RE: DRA2001 Registration & Sponsors = Robert = Register for DRA today and reserve your spot in Ducati history! If you have not already found your way to the e-Store section at Ducati.c= om to register for DRA, you should do so now. The registration process has been active for over a week. Follow the links on the front page under th= e Ducati World listing or use this link: http://www.ducati.com/scoopage.jhtml;$sessionid$M11OVFAAABWW2CRMKMQSFFQKF= RJS CIV3?area=3Dpromo&scoopNum=3D002 You can also download a copy of the DRA brochure directly from this location. Ducati is also proud to announce the official sponsors of DRA. Please re= ad the press release below for details on how to save on insurance rates for= your Ducati, win a set of Dunlop tires, win a Suomy Helmet, win OGIO/Duca= ti gear, win a Fogarty replica Malaguti scooter, meet the journalists from "Motorcyclist" magazine and much more. Confirmed sponsors for DRA Preparations are in full swing for Ducati Revs America, happening in Las Vegas this October. Tickets are now on sale at Ducati dealerships and ove= r the internet. A schedule of activities for the weekend can be found on ducatiusa.com and the official sponsors of the event are confirmed. Event organizers are estimating crowds in excess of 8,000, based on the flood of interest already. It takes a lot of help to arrange an event of this caliber and Ducati North America are pleased to welcome on board, as= official DRA sponsors, the following organizations. Ducati Cycle Insurance You won't find cheaper insurance for your Ducati than with Ducati Cycle Insurance. This is the claim of the official insurance company for DRA. T= he newly established Ducati insurance agents, developed specifically for the= Ducati owner, have been behind DRA from the start. The DRA computer room = at the Las Vegas Speedway will have direct links to their website where you = can get immediate quotes on your prized machine or go there before you ride t= o DRA www.ducaticycleinsurance.com. Dunlop Dunlop will be the official and exclusive tire company for DRA, providing= competitively priced tires and information on all the latest compounds an= d technology throughout the three day weekend. The same Dunlop truck and trailer that services many of the top racing teams, including the two American Ducati factory teams, will be present at Las Vegas Speedway so D= RA participants can take full advantage of expert advice usually reserved fo= r factory race teams. Dunlop tire technicians will help you choose the righ= t tire for your bike and riding style and fit them on the spot. Participant= s will also have the opportunity to win Dunlop tires in the lead up to the event. For every 1,000 registrations, Dunlop will give away a set of tire= s to a lucky participant. Further information will be available on their website from July. www.dunlopmotorcycle.com Suomy Suomy helmets have continued their strong tie with Ducati Motors and will= be at DRA with a full display of helmets, thanks to the involvement of Suomy= importer Gearbox International. Suomy sponsor the majority of Ducati's international and national racers; Troy Bayliss, Ben Bostrom, Ruben Xaus,= Scott Russell, Steve Rapp and Andy Meklau all wear Suomy helmets, and replicas of all six riders' helmets will be on sale at DRA. There will ev= en be opportunities to have your replica personally signed. For those who ca= n't wait that long, Suomy will be present on the Ducati Island at Laguna Seca= for the World Superbikes, where 12 personally signed replica helmets will= be given away over Saturday and Sunday. Motorcyclist Motorcyclist Magazine has long been the choice of enthusiasts. Readers en= joy the wit and humor as well the in-depth comprehensive tests. Don't miss th= e chance to meet with the editors and swap stories at DRA in Vegas. Sport Rider Magazine celebrates high-performance street biking world. The passionate and knowledgeable staff are accomplished writers and racers. C= ome and meet them at the DRA event in Las Vegas. Ogio Sport Ogio, the USA's largest manufacturer of golf accessories, and Ducati had already forged a strong and successful partnership that clearly demonstra= tes the varied interests of their many shared customers. Ogio make a small ra= nge of exclusive Ducati golf accessories including a day pack and back pack, plus computer and duffle bags. Ogio will have these and some exciting new= products on display at DRA. They will also be at Ducati Island, promoting= their Hole-in-One competition featuring VIP stars Dustin Nuygen and Molli= e Culver. Dainese Dainese and Ducati are two Italian names synonymous with sports bike ridi= ng. It stands to reason that the famous leather manufacture would be involved= with DRA, displaying their huge range of dynamic sports apparel. Dainese protective clothing for snowboarding, skiing, mountain biking and even in-line skating can be found at DRA. There will also be an exclusive Dain= ese DRA leather jacket made, a unique and practical souvenir that will be available the event. Campagnolo Ducati enthusiasts remember the name Campagnolo as the supplier of wheels= for Mike Hailwood's 900SS. The Italian manufacture produced wheels for Ducati, and many other competition machines, until the death of it's foun= der in 1984. Since then they have converted solely to the manufacture of qual= ity bicycle products but have never severed their ties with the motorcycle world. Campagnolo sponsor both Ducati's American Superbike teams, which u= se Campagnolo's components on Bianchi bicycles. They are also sponsoring DRA= with the plan of raising money, for the winning rider's charity of choice= , in a bicycle race between national and international racing stars. Malaguti DRA will be the first US consumer motorcycle event to showcase the Malagu= ti scooter line since its arrival in America. Not only will they be the official supplier of scooter for DRA, they will be donating models at the= event to raffle for Riders for Health. The world's third largest scooter manufacturer has been the proud sponsor of Ducati race teams, including C= arl Fogarty's Team Performance, for over six years. The new "Foggy Replica" w= ill be on sale at DRA along with the entire Malaguti range and participants w= ill have the chance to win a Foggy replica of their own. First Internet Travel For those choosing to fly to DRA, First Internet Travel should be your fi= rst call. Ducati have negotiated special rates for DRA participants flying f= rom anywhere in the USA and Europe. Simply call 1866 286 5146 or visit their website www.firstinternettravel.com. Richard Petty Driving Experience The Richard petty driving experience in association with Ducati North America and sponsors of DRA will be giving away a dozen free rides in the= Richard petty car during the event. They have also will be open for additional DRA participants who want o pay for the experience of riding i= n an official Nascar. Da boyz in Milwaukee don't like going to the track and getting their collective arses kicked weekend after weekend, nor do they enjoy blowing up numerous engines in public. The factory was successful at road racing ventures throughout the 60s and into the 70s largely because OB was very good at spotting and hiring the best talent available, both as riders and tuners, and at getting what he needed/wanted in support of fielding a reasonably competitive team. The factory had some very competitive road racing equipment in the 70s with the 2-stroke Aermacchi roadracing twins, but the faithful just couldn't accept or support them when they didn' go "potato-potatoe." I guess superbike racing gave the faithful what they wanted, a chance to see the marque entered in something that would let it be seen--and heard--as having a high-performance edge. Unfortunately, even the talents of a Pascal Picotte could not overcome the dual burdens of inadequate performance and notorious unreliability. And so, I propose a new class for 2002: World Superbeer racing. Fastest man from tavern to tavern wins, and remember-- loud pipes not only save lives but induce a better head on your beer as well. And speaking of heads, helmets will be banned in this class-- "do rags" only, so those annoying chinbars don't get in the way of a world-class guzzling effort. Lastly, no protective clothing beyond color vests and jeans will be allowed so as to assure that all contestants will get the full combined effect of the diuretic influence of alcohol and the evaporative powers of wind and sun. First man to reach the end of the course alive and with an undamaged motorcycle wins. Let's let Harley compete in a class they have already shown they can win..... Hey all, Anne, Max and Sam helped me get the Stingers collated, stapled, folded, taped, addressed and stamped. We spend a couple of hours doing them. Sam went with me and helped me get them into the slots at Sugarhouse post office. They should start hitting your homes on Wednesday and Thursday. My family sure makes this job a lot easier for me. This issue is much thinner than my usual production due to my pre-occupation with my final exam in the last course of my Master's Degree, the presentation and defense of my Master's research and being assigned 5 different subject areas at work (physics, biology, and earth science requiring completely new lesson and laboratory exercise preparations from scratch) Anyway, my apology to the club for having such a small issue. The quality of the articles from President Crit Swaner and long-time member Bill Kesinger (all around good person and on-going supporter of the Stinger Editor, whoever they may be) are first rate. Both wrote about their individual trips to the Beartooth Rally in Montana. Hence, the particular picture used on the front cover. Both articles are good reads. Enjoy the read and see you on the road.
