From time to time (and this depends largely on your ISP), we have to uns*bscribe people from the list. This is almost always due to some technical problem with your ISP. When it happens, we can't get a message to you to tell you what's happened; you'll just stop receiving list mail. It can be for one of the following reasons. MAILBOX FULL This affects AOL users more than anyone. If you are an AOL user, and you don't get to check your mailbox at least once a day, it fills up, and things start bouncing back to us. SERVICE UNAVAILABLE Sometimes ISPs go down for no reason. Hotmail was having problems with this, though not recently (knock wood). If we get a lot of bounces back saying there's a local configuration error or the service is unavailable, we uns*bscribe you. LOCAL CONFIGURATION PROBLEMS Some ISPs put in their machine name in the outgoing messages, even though it isn't part of your regular email address. This doesn't affect that many people, but it might affect someone if changes are made to their local ISP. Unlike a listserv which has a NO MAIL function, majordomo doesn't, which means that I don't know that there's any way around this problem right now. I'm checking into it. NOTE: I usually don't uns*bscribe someone unless I get at least three bounces from their address. ***YOU WILL NEVER BE UNSUBSCRIBED FOR VIOLATING LIST RULES WITHOUT BEING CONTACTED BY US. If you've been suddenly unsubscribed and haven't heard from either of us, it's due to a technical problem. ***** IF YOU STOP RECEIVING LISTMAIL 1. Contact me or Jill at romana@mindspring.com or jtkirby@mcs.com. 2. Send a s*bscribe buffy command to majordomo@xmission.com 3. DO NOT send a test post to the list. MISCELLANEOUS Some of you might notice that your posts don't always go through. That could be for several reasons. 1. You had administrative words in your post, such as s*bscribe or h*lp. Those bounce to the administrative address, so try masking those words. 2. You tried to post from an address other than the one you have subscribed. We've got the list configured so that only members can post to prevent spamming and trolls from doing stupid things. 3. Sometimes xmission does weird things. I sometimes will post two things in quick succession, and only one will drop. The other will take hours or days to drop. If something hasn't dropped in a few hours and it's timely or important, check with either me or Jill for permission to repost it to the list. Sharon - -- Sharon A. Normally, I'd agree with you. And I still tend to think the scene to which you refer is a red herring. However, I have also seen enough things completely ruined by promos for Babylon 5 in the past to know that promos can spoil just about anything. Really. Sometimes, the Idiots in Charge would show promos for the next episode of B5 which would directly spoil the episode you were watching then. Who puts together the Buffy promos? Does anyone know? Scott? With Babylon 5, JMS has nothing to do with it; the PTEN suits put it together, I think he's said. Do the producers of Buffy have any say in the Buffy promos? In order to be considered a regular and placed in the opening credits, an actor must be paid for AT LEAST 13 episodes and not be a puppet. (Ergo, Kosh didn't appear. =) So David must be getting paid - ergo, put on retainer - to be put in 13 episodes. This doesn't obligate them to use him in 13 episodes, I don't think, but they would be wasting their money to use him in any less. It also doesn't preclude using him in any more episodes, but they would have to negotiate that separately, I'd assume. So the trick is to see if he appears in the opening credits next season. If so, figure 13 episodes. (Or, wait, is it that they pay him for the full season and must use him in 13 episodes? ACK! Now I'm confusered! I think it's the former and not the latter.) - -Augie - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Augie De Blieck Jr. * augie@nic.com * AugieDB@compuserve.com VR.5 FAQkeeper - Watch VR.5 on The Sci-Fi Channel Tuesday Nights, 10 p.m. EST! Of course, one look at my sig and you realize I keep *both* physical objects, Buffy's three gold earings, and untangible objects, such as Giles' inner child. But I shall furthermore rationalize this. I have personally never seen on any list, be it, X-Files, Pretender, Millennium, Star Trek, Bab5, etc, or newsgroup, that has this idea of Keeping items. Therefor, the idea is to my knowledge *new* and has no set definition. It may seem silly to keep items that are not physical in nature, but there are several reasons to do so. A. There *are* a limited number of physicial items in the universe and an even smaller number that will attract any given person towards keeping. B. For some people, keeping Physical stuff is kinda stupid, I mean, WHAT value is there really in keeping shoes, skirts, boots, books, etc? The argument could be made (and NOT that I'm trying to make it!!!) that keeping physical stuff is very lame in that it doesn't show any value for the important traits of the characters, just that they have cool stuff. Which they do, mind you... And well, those are the two most stunning points that come to mind... It is stupid when you are a keeper of something like that. Ok, now you're being rude. There's no reason for that. Diffent fandoms have different rules. And Buffy's new enough that the fandom is still being established. Everyone's pretty much agreed that body parts, particualerly hearts, are not to be kept. This is an ensemble cast, and the episodes should reflect this. As Scott mentioned, Babylon 5 has 11 regular cast members, but not all of them show up in every episode. Besides, look at how Cordelia has been handled this season. Although Charisma appears as a regular in the credits, she's had very little screen time relative to Nick and Alyson. I would think the same would be true for David next season. I groaned when I read about the new series in Starlog magazine, talking about the new ALIEN movie: A4: Resurrection.=20 At the time I remember thinking, 'Goodness why make a series out of a movie that was mediocre at best?' Then I read that Joss Whedon was involved and was responsible for rewriting Speed. Which I happened to love.
