So was Colin the one watching the cartoons? Either he came into the room and turned on the cartoons to watch while he was killing the guys, or he killed them and then sat with the bodies watching the cartoons. Nasty either way. Buffy Summers headed home, walking briskly in the chill night air. It was especially cool, considering she was in Sunnydale, California, and though her outfit had been perfect for a night at the Bronze, it gave a decidedly low amount of protection against the elements. "Next time," she thought, "bring a jacket." Then she felt it. The slight cramping, mixed with a little lightheadedness. One of _them_ was near. Spinning around, she saw a black-clad figure standing completely still no less then twenty feet behind her. "Why doesn't it attack?" she wondered, as she drew a wooden stake from her bag, and moved towards the vampire. "Don't think about it girl," she told herself, "just thrust, plunge, and move on. There'll be one less bloodsucker tonight." As Buffy moved towards the figure, she could swear she saw it smile. Then, with a gust of wind, it was gone. Buffy spun around, expecting to see him behind her. He wasn't there. With a quick survey of the area, she managed to just catch him out of the corner of her eye, as he ran down a nearby alley. "It's never easy." she thought, and ran after him. When she reached the alley, she found nothing but a large open door at its end, calling to her, beckoning. Cautiously she entered. Buffy found herself inside a large empty warehouse, something of which there were few in Sunnydale. She scanned the area, searching for somewhere the vampire could be hiding. There were, unfortunately, well too many places. But she didn't need to search. The creature dropped from the rafters of the building, landing just behind Buffy, wrapping one arm around her waist, the other just under her chin, pulling her head aside and exposing her jugular to his vicious fangs. With a burst of preternatural strength, Buffy yanked the vampire off of her, flipping him over her shoulder, and slamming him onto the ground in front of her. With a quick thrust, she drove her stake home, and a loud "clink" erupted from the strike. "Waitaminute." she thought, "clink?" The vampire took the opportunity to roll away, and Buffy quickly found herself face to face with the creature. She watched as he reached up under his shirt, and pulled out a steel plate, one which had a very obvious dent in it now. He tossed it aside, and it clattered to the ground. "Nice trick." she said sarcastically. "I'll give you credit, you're a lot smarter than most bloodsucker's I've met." She surveyed his figure, clad in black army boots, loose fitting black jeans, a black shirt, and a black trenchcoat. "And you're a lot more fashionable. But I'm tired, so could you make this easier on the both of us and just stand still and let me do my job?" "I'm not going to hurt you," he said, "I want to talk." "So," she replied, "you have a voice! Not going to hurt me? Now why is it that I don't believe you?" "You don't believe me? Fine, then do it." he replied. He then put his hands his chest and pulled his shirt open. "Go ahead," he beckoned, "plunge it right there!" Buffy blinked in disbelief at what she saw. There, right over the vampire's heart, hung a small silver crucifix. She could hear his flesh sizzling at its touch. She stepped closer, but made sure to keep the creature at arm's length. "All right," she said, "you wanna talk, let's start with why you attacked me." "I had to make sure," he paused, "that YOU were the Slayer." "And if I hadn't been?" "Then you'd be dead," he replied, "and I'd be sorry." A vampire with a conscience? This was getting weirder by the second. "I don't buy it." she said, "You're a vampire. You kill. It's what you do." "Ah..." he said with a soft grin, "you've heard that old myth eh? That all vampires are nothing but soulless killing machines? Come now, your friend Angel must have disproved that theory to you no?" "Are you saying that your soul was restored?" she asked, still wary of the creature. "No," he replied, "I'm saying I never lost it. Not all vampires become soulless killers when they're made. Only the weak ones. I'm living proof of that." "What?" "Sit," he said, gesturing to the floor, "I have a long story to tell you." ***** So, what do you think? You like? Feedback welcome! Since Angel Hmmm...I've seen a lot of theories on why Angel didn't perform CPR on Buffy. And, IMO, I don't go along with any of them. I think the whole reason Angel didn't do it was simply because Xander was supposed to. I think Joss wanted Xander to do it to kind of mend the small problems between Buffy and him and to make up for their disagreement. Angel has saved their lives so many times before that this was Xander's chance to do something useful and show Buffy how much he cared. Buffy questioningly said his name when she woke up in the sense that she was surprised to see him there, more surprised I think then she would have been to see Angel. - -Lawless ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 5 Jun 1997 23:29:01 -0700 (PDT) From: Sonja Marie Subject: BUFFY: GASP!: Website Update - New Urls, GASPers Hi all, I have added more URLS to my Buffy Links Page at: http://www.geocities.com/TelevisionCity/7728/btvsurls.html They are denoted by "Just Added" At the bottom is a few links that I can no longer access and if you know what happened to them (if they relocated) please let me know. What was Cordelia's boyfriend's name in Invisible Girl? Seems to me it _wasn't_ Kevin. Cordelia did not appear to show the same sort of concern for the guy in that episode as she did for Kevin in this episode. And Kevin definitely did not appear to have any bruises/markes from a beating that would need to be airbrushed in dance pictures. Is it the same guy? Was Steve the boyfriend from last episode? If so, it's kinda amusing that in the few days (based on May Queen election being very close to the dance), Cordelia would ditch the other guy and become attached enough to someone else that his quirks are 'cute' rather than irritating. And whom she mourned when he died, rather than considering what the effect of losing her date would be. Is this just for the Buffyverse, or for most of the vampire folklore? Actually, now I'm a bit confused. For all you knowledgeable in vampire lore, help me out will ya? I'll just keep my questions relevant to the Buffyverse... 1) When Buffy stakes a vamp, their bodies disintegrate...what happens to the demons that inhabited the bodies? Do they go back to hell? Are they recycled? Can they be resurrected again after a period of time? I vaguely remember in the Pilot, where Luke (?, not sure--the strong vampire chosen to be the Master's minion?) sheepishly said that a few centuries ago, someone (another slayer, I think) had caught him napping. I remember thinking that he must have been staked and "died", but somehow was resurrected. Does anyone remember Luke saying this? If so, does the statement imply that vampires don't "die" for long? 2) What about Angel's special circumstance? Can his poor, tormented soul _ever_ be free? 3) You think there might've been other vampires, like Angel, who've raised the wrath of the Romany's (or other groups with similar capabilities) and as a consequence, got their souls restored? There's gotta be a few. If so, they should visit Sunnydale once in a while to lend a hand or create havoc, depending on the morality of their souls. Come to think of it, if more vamps got their souls restored, wouldn't most of them (the ones that were initially good and moral) be good (as in, not feeding on humans), and thus no longer be a threat to humans? But, that would be cruel. 4) What happens to a human's soul when he/she is converted to a vampire? Are they trapped in the body till someone stakes the body? Or are the souls released? I'm not sure if they covered a few of these in previous episodes so please bear with my ignorance. Well, "Welcome to the Hellmouth" is showing this Monday, so maybe I'll get a few explanations. Well, thanks in advance! GhostWriter P.S. If people think this all sounds like a GOOD IDEA *then* I'll seriously want people to make sure that List Keepers get a copy of it. - -- It has been mentioned that there are several different keeping lists out in the vastness of cyberspace. What I would like to do would be to provide a single page with links to the addresses of all Keepers of Lists, and links to their lists. Everyone can go to ONE PAGE and from there see if something has actually been claimed or not, on any of the lists. It's a lofty goal, I suppose, but i think it is feasable. So here is what I really need. A. For all Keeper of Lists to contact me with 1. their e-mail addy 2. the character they keep a list for and 3. the url of their list site, or alternatively, an uptodate e-mail as to the content of their list. (url is preffered) /\ The reason I need a little help with this is I want this to be inclusive of all List Keepers possible, which means that this e-mail needs to find its way to lists that I'm not on. After all, it's hardly inclusive if it excludes a List Keeper. Once there is a complete or as near to complete as we can get list of List Keepers, we can place all of their contact and list information on one single page, and you just go to THAT page to see if something is kept for any particular character. I don't mean to duplicate all of the lists on one page, but to provide links to all of this lists. The goal being to cut down on duplicate claiming, and the confusion their in. NOTE: I don't intend to use this List of the List Keepers, in any way, shape, or form, to weed out duplicate claims! I think if the LIST KEEEPERS want to try to settle that between themselves (since they probably will have dates as to when items were claimed) they are free to do so, but I'm not going to even *try* to get into that mess. - -- Virginia Eveland Keeper of Giles' Inner Child Keeper of Buffy's Three Gold Hoop Earrings Pretender, Slayerette, Bab5, XF Fanatic SYX, AGML, LGW, BLA, OBSSE, GASP ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 6 Jun 1997 08:55:27 -0400 From: Jesse Jou Subject: Re: BUFFY: Invisible Girl episode (Angel's soul thing) I'd like to join in this discussion with the following thoughts: 1) I don't think suicide is an option for Angel. He's got some kind of complex guilt/self-loathing action going on that makes him want to stop other vampires and help cute underage girls. :-) j/k, but I think that the necessity of redemption is more important to him than the pain of living, so unless he gets offed by something nasty, i don't think he'll be going anywhere anytime soon. 2) As far as his killing people, this was probably the most disturbing thing for me in Angel, when Darla chides him to embrace his vampire heritage by killing "mangy humans." Remember that when the demon gets you, it gets your body, not your soul. Thus for Darla to endorse killing is nothing, for she has no soul to begin with; however, for Angel to kill (humans, of course, not them, to paraphrase the Master) is for him to ignore the dictates of his conscience, and thus lends a much greater poignance to his situation. Aren't human monsters scarier than soulless ones? I rewatched "Welcome to Hellmouth/The Harvest" last night, and I noticed another song for our growing list. There are still a few songs from the episode that aren't playing loud enough, or long enough, for me to determine what they are. If any one can fill in the blanks, please let me know. Thanks. Newly noted song: "Elevator Boy" by Sprung Monkey (see FAQ) is playing while Buffy tries on clothes before her first trip to the Bronze. *Unknown* "Welcome to Hellmouth/The Harvest" songs: (1) Buffy's mom drives her to school (Sounds like someone's singing "I am an antihero...") (2) Vampires approach the Bronze for the Harvest (Lyrics include "How are you feeling? Do you feel okay? Because I don't.") P.S. Jen, good point about the prophecy thing. Thanks.
