Giles' car is most definitely an old Citroen station wagon, built sometime in the late '70s or early 80's. No question about it 'cause my uncle in Belgium had one last time I was there. Typically French, the Citroen is know for it's quirkyness, such as extensive use of hydraulics (the clutch especially), and for it's air suspension system. They even teamed with Maserati in the mid 1980's, dropping a very potent engine in a few sport sedans. The current model range is very extensive, and the high end cars can cost upwards of $40,000US equivalent. Just in case you're way too curious, the Duex Chaveaux model from Citroen is a Volkswagen Beetle sized vehicle popular with students and farmers in France as they are virtually indestructible and very cheap to own and operate. Very true. However, I have a suggestion that might provide us with: A)An acceptable name that most (or even 50%:P) of us can agree on, and B)A word association that will make us smile when we think of it. I'm on AMML (Alanis Morissette Mailing List), and we voted on THE stupidest name ever. I think the winner of our contest ended up being "Jagged Little Pals". Which NO ONE liked. It was bizarre. But all of us got into the lyrics tremendously, dissecting every little piece of what Alanis said (which is similar to this list, in that we dissect everything that Buffy and her cohorts DO), and many of us got into this new song called "No Pressure Over Cappuccino". Many of us have recordings of it (it's a song about Alanis' twin brother), and our favorite line is "...and you revel in your psychosis". Just so much truth to it, ya know? So, now, we call each other "Revelers" quite a bit. "Hey Revelers, Wassup?" type of thing. So maybe it's not just a clever name after all. Maybe it's in the dialogue... Just something to think about. I'm leaning towards 'slayerette' myself, but it seems we who favor slayerette are quickly becoming out numbered. To me, slayerite (or slayeryte) seems to...harsh...for lack of a better word. Sure we're hard-core Buffy fans, but we don't want to sound that extreme (do we? I personally don't) Well, I just looked in my big ole unabridged dictionary for -ette and it said a whole bunch of stuff about how it was feminine, so you guys do have a point (not that you didn't before). Maybe, to make everyone happy, there needs to be two terms, like ladies and gentlemen, slayerettes and slayerites. Just a thought. Also, the whole point of beginning to organize a recount was so that everyone would be represented, correct? Well, how can everyone be represented if everyone's not one the net? I mean, sure, we can E-mail those Buffy fans out there, and we can snail mail and talk to friends, but what about the rest of the group? I think it's just going to be something that happens. I think they opted for purple since that's sort of an "unofficial" color for Xena. Do they make bronze colored ribbon? Anyway, it's just a suggestion. Of course, given that we met on an fan emailing list, and finally got together at a *comic book* convention, maybe that should come as no surprise! eh? :> I'm kinda liking "Buffamaniacs" lately. EXCEPT, imagine the stuttering Porky Pig saying "WB", hence "Dubba-Dubba-Dubba-Ya-B". The Dubba-Dubba Dances are the cute dance routines featuring casts from all the various Warner Brother shows in which they do a little Dubba-Dubba Dance and singing routine, including accompaniment from Porky, Animaniacs, etc. These little 30-60 second spots usually proceed or follow a WB show. funee ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 25 Jun 1997 22:53:59 -0400 From: mahogohney Subject: Re: BUFFY: Re: dubba? >WHAT THE heck IS A DUBBA DUBBA DANCE? One more thing about the Dubba-Dubba Dance. There is one Dubba-Dubba dance spot that prominently features Sarah Michelle Gellar introducing the whole segment. She is wearing that same outfit from Never Kill A Boy On The First Date (NKABOTFD), you know, that leopard skin coat? Also, if you look carefully, it looks like Allison is wearing her outfit from that episode...at least part or one of the outfits she wore in NKABOTFD. Nicholas who is to Allison's left in the dance line-up is wearing this strange looking leisure suit outfit. Looked snazzy but definitely something you'd only wear to a party or in front of the camera doing a glitzy Las Vegas act or a Dubba-Dubba Dance. Certainly wouldn't wear it to church or to the mall. If you want to catch these Dubba-Dubba Dance spots on tape make sure to set your VCR timers for at least 5 minutes ahead and after the WB program you are taping. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 25 Jun 1997 20:13:41 +0100 From: Alex Subject: Re: BUFFY: New Buffy Episode - READ ME FIRST Flagg wrote: > Well, they always did say THIRTEEN episodes back at the beginning...It > mysteriously changed to 12 sometime through the season. Excuse me?! Some of us like older men. And on the show "Angel" is OLDER then "Giles", he's like 240 yrs old, Giles is about 200 years younger. So becareful who you are calling old when it comes to Buffyverse. If you mean the actors Anthony and David, I'd still prefer Tony over David anyday, cause I think he is one good looking talented actor, with alot more maturity then the younger actors on the show, which comes with age. I think you might be young by your comments and that might make "Angel"/David Older then you at 27, he's older then me, and I'm about to be 24 in Aug. If we called ourselves "Buffamaniacs" then we would have another Warner Bros tie-in. Plus, "Buffamaniacs" is easier on the tongue than it's predesessor, "Buffymaniacs" (and it spells more phonetically than "Slayeryte"). Plus it just sounds kind of fun.
