If that is true, > why do mirrors reflect the dresser, bed, etc. (just everything in the > picture). They don't have souls. The "vampire-without-a-soul" concept is a part of the folklore, not neccessarily Buffyverse canon. My take on it is that the lack of reflection is because the vampires are fundamentally unnatural; hence, they lack the qualities a normal human would possess (like a reflection, ability to walk in the day, etc). On to the main question: Angel does possess a soul. However, his *body* is still trapped in its vampiric condition. That is why the curse is so horrible. Angel has the humanity of his living days, yet suffers from the weaknesses which seperate him from the mortal world. As he once said: "I can walk like a man, but I'm not one". _______ Andrew Weitzman aweitz@cam.org Beware the Fluffy Threat(tm)! For the sake of starting a new conversation, I'd like to mention something. I was watching my tape of Invisible Girl and I noticed something. At the part when Cordelia goes up to the teacher after class to ask for some help on her paper, the teacher compliments her on her class performance. You can see in the background Willow rolls her eyes and them walks out of the classroom. Every time I see it now, I can't help laughing. They're irrelevant and although I sympathize with the lady, 90% of them are scams and and I really don't want them in my mailbox. Thanks. ObBuffy: I've got a bunch of quotes and backstage info from the new season, including an interview with Joss about it that Margy Rochlin got when she interviewed Sarah for the TV Guide article. I can't post it yet until she checks her contract but I'll try to post a few of the quotes and things tomorrow. Some of them are really interesting. And for the people who are getting autographed pics from Sarah: do they have her signature (supposedly...) on them or are they just a pic. I'm also waiting on a autoed pic from Aly. I can't believe I was in New Orleans when her and Lost Boy called me. And to think I included my phone number as a joke. Oh well. You'll find we are a little like our beloved Sunnydale that way. You'll read a seemingly scathing post, you'll say to yourself "Well, one thing's for sure, nothing's ever going to be the same again on the list after *that*!" But in fact, the next day we are kicking our cyber hacky-sacks, skateboarding, gossiping between classes, etc... An assembly is out of the question! It's a bit surprising at first if you are used to the volatility, hostility, and reactivity of newsgroups (just thinking about my days on the unmoderated B-5 newsgroups makes me shiver!). You've been with us about 10 days or so? You probably still have some adjusting to do. I have some theories about the differences, but they're really not that important. So kick back, have a valium with us. And enjoy the list! Lisa P.S. If you do really want to create a stir though, just drop some hot gossip about the stars (events, interviews, pics, etc...) and watch the waters would churn around your post as though it had fallen in among piranha! ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 16 Aug 1997 01:53:46 -0700 From: Lisa Rose Subject: BUFFY: Re: Master's Undead List Questions Thanks to Tracey, James, and Chris for adding items #31-#38 to the list of "Master's Undead List Questions" And let's not forget: 39. How did Xander know where Angel lived in Prophecy Girl? 40. How did Angel know that Buffy was the Slayer? 41. Why didn't Buffy sense that Angel was a vampire when she first met him? 42. Why aren't there ever any cops (or news crews) hanging around the school or Bronze after so many murders? 43. How could Flutie's death be attributed to wild dogs when the kids' bloody fingerprints would be all over his office? I admit to introducing threads (e.g., "No Bronze in the Buffyverse") on these last two. Mea Culpa! I've had a lot of requests for quite detailed info from the ComicCon photos, such as "What's on that table?" "What's in that guy's hand?," etc... So I decided to make the photos significantly larger and restore much of what I'd originally cropped-out as "irrelevant" (little did I know!). Now you can peruse them more carefully for yourselves: http://www.wco.com/~cybrpaws/comiccon.html Some of the photos are rather large now. Several will be wider than your browser window, so be sure to use those cute little arrow icons in the corner of the browser window to journey around the pics (hey, it's easy to forget to do that!). And yes, they will take longer to load. But the detail is greater and it makes you feel even closer to our beloved gang! Enjoy! Lisa P.S. Regrettably, though I would love to show you all "Lost Boy" (aka, BtVS "MiB"), I have decided to respect his desire for internet anonymity and have blurred his head where it appears in a couple of the new photo versions. It was a difficult decision for an iconoclast like me to make. (Pixels want to be free!!). But sometimes a little mystery makes life that much more interesting??? (well, I'm still trying to convince *myself* of this latter point...). ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 16 Aug 1997 08:11:21 -0400 From: "Bob Fugler" Subject: BUFFY: original book Hi, Just wondering has anyone actually read the original book they put out when BtVS came out? (A noveIization by Richie Tankersley Cusick, based on the screenplay by Joss Whedon..) I got it out of the library and there are some major differences from the movie.. example Merrick kills himself, something about Buffy and a blessed pack of Perrier, Pike leaves town, the master does not say opps when he dies and so on.... When they interviewed Joss he said when they did the movie they didn't go as dark as he has for the TV show, so I am wondering are the changes in the book, based more upon Cusick's ideas or closer to the actual screenplay? acting kinda curious.. Kat P.S. on YTV they interview two or three (couldn't recognize the guy in the middle) of the actors for BtVS and played it last night, boy was I surprised.... did anyone else see this? ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 16 Aug 1997 09:03:36 -0400 (EDT) From: DaisyFoo14@aol.com Subject: Re: BUFFY: what?! First the listowners are doing a good job. They're come up with good rules for the list, and are pretty good about knowing when to kill a thread and when not to. Second, the list is still fairly new and going through something of a honeymoon period. (If anyone's interested, I've got an essay called "Life cycle of an internet mailing list" that I saved when someone posted it on another list I'm on. Send me a note OFF LIST if you want it.) There is plenty of new material to discuss. The dead horses aren't all that decayed yet, and people are still on reasonably good behavior.
