Okay...I just saw the preview for season 2, and I have a few questions. First, I played the thing over in slow motion a couple of times, but I still couldn't really tell who Buffy is dancing with. For some reason I think its is Xander, only because it looks like his hair (its too short to be Angel's hair) and the blue shirt he was wearing in one of the first clips. Second, how short did Alyson cut her hair, because it looks awfuly short. And third, when it shows Angel hugging Buffy, what is all that stuff on the floor? It looks like bones or sticks to me. Well, enough questions....I guess I'll have to wait for the 15th to find out....makes me want to say Grrr Arrg! P.S. I saw the new logo, and while it looks nice, I like the other one better, and I don't think the new one captures the tone of the show at all. girljen *keeper of Xander's Toga* *keeper of Angel's statue* girljen@juno.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 25 Aug 1997 22:24:42 -0700 From: "Wien Huang" Subject: Re: BUFFY: BWS > << If it were just "Buffy" they'd think > it was some show about cheerleaders or something and dismiss it without > a second thought. >> i agree with kimmy here. > I don't want to start an arguement here, and I'm sorry that this is way off > topic, but I resent that comment. And truthfully, "The Vampire Slayer" may turn some people off before they even give it a chance! I'm up for anything that will attract new viewers, because once they watch it, they'll be hooked (as long as the incredible writing stays the same). And the more people that watch, the higher the ratings. The higher the ratings, the more likely it will be that we'll have Buffy and friends for years to come!! I think the reason the ratings aren't higher is because people don't realize that this show is about more than vampires. There's high school horrors, romance, comedy. Buffy has it all! Sorry for the delay! Now, on to SPOILERS W H E N S H E W A S B A D The following represents my interpretation of the new season promo. At the Bronze...Buffy, in a sleeveless black dress, tries to engage Xander in a dance--a rather seductive dance. Willow watches, looking hurt. It looks as if Xander (wearing a short-sleeve black shirt) somehow rejects or questions Buffy's actions, because she walks away, diva like. Another scene shows Xander (in a white shirt) and Willow (in overalls) on the top tier of the Bronze, looking down at Buffy I would assume. With Angel...While the scene doesn't look like the bronze, it could be. Angel, in his usual garb, holds a scared or very sad Buffy. They may be standing in the library, which needs major renovation. Of course, there's the bedroom scene. Angel is turning to leave Buffy's bedroom (out the window), and she stops him with the words, "I missed you." These are the major scenes I can remember without checking the tape again. Enjoy! Are the rules different if you're a vampire, too? Buffy's litte "Come on, get in!" line was certainly an invitation to come in right then, but it definitely wasn't worded as an open-ended "Come on back now, y'hear?" sort of thing. Isn't there some sort of expiration date on these invitations? Are they open-ended forever until you boot someone out? What happens if you move? (Personally, it seemed to me that it was open-ended until you dis-invite the vampire, and I would think an invitation only applies to the house you're living in at the moment. I just wanted to get some other opinions on this one.) And, finally, when Darla was spying on Willow and Buffy studying in the library, did anyone else notice her reflection in what looked like a really shiny bookcase or something? However, I hope Joss uses his patented preconceived-notion-exploding powers to produce a fresh take on this kind-of-trite theme (How many evil or rebellious female characters have we lost to a sympathetic ear and a hug, I ask you? Kinda like saying dangerous men can be unrepentantly evil, but dangerous women are only profoundly misunderstood and oversexed, but I digest...) Also, re: the provenance of "When she was good, she was good, but when she was bad, she was even BETTER." Apocryphally, this comment is attributed to Mae West, who is an undisputed goddess of the saucy remark, also known for her tastefully delivered, "I used to be as pure as snow, but then I drifted." Them what survived the horror of Batman & Robin will recognize Ms. West in the vocal inflections of Uma Thurman's Poison Ivy. re: Tycho Brahe dying of an exploding bladder. Again an apocryphal story (told to me by a physics teacher). Apparently Brahe refused to leave an extended card game to answer the call of nature and by the time the game ended, he collapsed, dead of a ruptured bladder. How does this relate to Buffy? It doesn't, but education is never a waste. Also, interesting Joss tidbit, in a Movieline interview with Sigourney Weaver re: Alien Resurrection, she credits the "amazing" script as the principal reason for her agreeing to play Ripley again. You go, boy. finally: Lisa Rose wrote: >Buffy the Vampire Slayer -> Buffy -> Buffy & Friends -> Friends > >"Friends" has kind of nice ring to it, don't you think? The name "Buffy" doesn't really scream "tough", but "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" makes you kind of do a double take. So, I apologize if I've offended, but before BtVS, didn't the name "Buffy" make you think of the rich, ditsy blonde stereotype we've all seen in countless bad horror movies? IMO it sounded like > there is only one slayer per generation and if she dies before her sucessor > is born and trained then...."o" well....no slayer for a few years. Just an > idea. Oh yeah, I keep reading on here about "Undead" questions. What > exactly are those? What the Master said, is that it had been a long time since his particular group had fought a slayer, not that it had been a long time since there had been a slayer, and that his group was rusty because of that. Tycho's bladder burst because he was continually drinking wine and such, and didn't want to excuse himself to go to the bathroom because a King or someone high in royalty was talking, and he didn't want to interrupt. But that took a week or something, and Tycho was drunk and continually drinking more, so I don't think Buffy would ever need to concern herself with that. - -mbaker@mbhs.edu ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 26 Aug 1997 14:38:17 -0400 (EDT) From: Marcus Baker Subject: Re: BUFFY: questions about "Angel" On Tue, 26 Aug 1997, Aliesha Wallach wrote: > If a vampire has to be invited in to your home, how did Darla get into > Angel's apartment? (Sorry, couldn't > resist an homage to one of the Undead. :P) I didn't notice Darla's reflection or whatever, but Angel is the only vamp that _does_ have a soul, thanks to that gypsy curse. His morality is kept around by his soul, keeping him from randomly killing people and such. Hey all you - I've finally gotten around to starting on the BTVS xmission shirts. I will repost this order form at *least* once a week until the deadline. Below is a order form and description of the shirts. I've tried to keep them as simple as possible to keep the cost down (the price of shirts has gone up lately). Also, I have a tendency to round numbers up and make things a touch too expensive - this is because in the past I've had surprise costs and had to use my own money to pay for shirts. In this case, any funds left over will go towards the sending the cast shirts (see below). Also, in the "options" section below, the top-ten list requires a separate screen. If I do not get enough orders to pay for this option, I will contact you to find out if you'd like personalization done or have a refund of $2.50. However, I don't anticipate this being a problem. The deadline for receiving orders is going to be *******Saturday, Sept. 6, 1997******* so that I can place the order on Monday. If, for any reason, you can't have your order to me by then, email me and I'll see if we can't work something out. Also, I would like to send shirts to as many people on the Buffy production staff that I'm able to (I'll start with Joss, then go to SMG, etc, etc). If you would like to include an extra dollar or so to help, that would be appreciated. If at all possible, please print out this order form and use it (makes record-keeping easier), but if you can't, please make sure to write down all necessary information (on a sheet of notebook paper, if possible). Thanks. On back: You will have a choice of personalization, a top-ten list, or nothing.(see below). Shipping: Shipping to the contentional United States has been figured into the listed price.
