I could see it now... >I for one don't want to see a Christmas special. It wouldn't have to be a standard Holiday episode. I doubt that Joss would try one. Look what the X-Files did in their recent two-parter it was set during the Holidays. The holidays were not the story, yes the time period helped enhance points of the story. The X-Files like Buffy isn't a show that screams Christmas special, but I think Joss and the crew could create a great show that just happens to be set during the Holidays. Now if you did create a funky Holiday episode, I could see Buffy in the George Bailey role that somebody mentioned earlier. Things go bad near Christmas, and Buffy wishes that she never became the slayer and wants to be a normal girl. Then however it happens she gets to see what happens if she wasn't the slayer. Perhaps they could even bring back Kendra if she was called instead of Buffy. Xander and Willow are still outcasts perhaps even dead, because Kendra wouldn't have cared much about them in WttHM. Maybe, Kendra killed Angel when she found out he was a vamp. Cordy is still the queen Bitca. Giles or Ms. Calendar are dead or possessed from the happenings in Dark Ages. Chance even the Master is still alive and trying to destroy the world, just like mean old Mr. Potter. Buffy learns her lesson, and resumes to fighting the good fight, till next weeks episode. Perhaps next year. This may be the explanation of all of these repeats. Another theory is that most people are away for the holidays and will not be able watch, therefore showcasing a new episode w/ nobody home would be stupid. Then again, there's the whole thread about BtVs's 'demonic' theme vs. Christmas, but let's not open that coffin again. =) Dave N. - - ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Dec 1997 11:28:24 -0800 (PST) From: Dave Ngan Subject: BUFFY: Leno's a dork This may be a openly biased statement made by a disgrundled Buffy fan, but I personally feel that a talented-rising actress such as SMG should get more air time and attention than a soon_to_be_50_yr_old fitness guru that has been the runt of many a joke during the past decade or so. Now to avoid getting death threats from hard-core fans or Richard aka Milton Simmons, let me say that I don't have anything against him *cough, sputter* The interview w/ Jay Leno last night was a travesty. I must admit it *was* better than her first time on the show. But it was so erratic and out of sync, it didn't do SMG, the audience, and especially her fans (namely us) any justice. I think there was only one split second of BtVs in which Jay simply referred to as her 'show', and about a 15 sec clip from Scream II in which we've seen a million times. I totally agree with another post, when someone said that SMG and Jay didn't get along very well. Jay didn't get any of SMG's sincere sarcasm and humor. Didn't we already talk about Burger King? How can one discuss their own life story under 7 mins or so?? SMG needs the attention she so richly deserves. I liked SMG on Letterman better than her two-times on Leno even though the former was a lot shorter. Just my two stakes. Dave N. Deal with the problems as they come... I remember when Spike first appeared how we compared him to Billy Idol, Sting, Sid Vicious, Lestat, a character from FK, etc.... But did anyone mention the immortal Nicholas Ward from the 2nd season episode of Highlander entitled "The Vampire"? I just saw a re-run of it on USA a few nights back. Nicholas posed as a vampire in Victorian London to kill people strategically for economic gain. He had short bleached-blonde hair, flawless pretty facial features, smallish-medium build, and an English accent, all characteristics shared by Spike. In the scene where Duncan first formally meets him, Nicholas enters the room with his fiance, Juliet (interesting name coincidence with Juliet Landau), at his side. He is dressed in black. And she is wearing a light-colored Victorian dress that reminded me of Drusilla's original dress. In profile, the actress who played Juliet looked a lot like Juliet Landau (Drusilla), IMHO. A similar delicacy in the chin, especially. Overall Spike is more macho, punkish, and less effete than Nicholas Ward was. Yet I can't help but wonder if the images of Nicholas and Juliet somewhat influenced the basic look of of Spike and Drusilla. I can't stand Leno or Letterman--it's a toss up as to who is worse--and having to watch him and listen to his moronic jokes for more than 1 minute was pure TORTURE. I didn't see her first round of late show appearances, so I have no comparison, but when her bit was over I thought, "well that was a waste of time." Maybe I'll just stick to Buffy for all my SMG sightings.
