You continue to show that kind of respect for women (and yourself) and you'll go far. My girlfriend and I would be much more comfortable with her 14 year old daughter dating a guy like Oz rather than someone like "looking at linoleum makes me think of sex" Xander (who I really like, BTW). And as Brenda (of Willow Keeper List fame) pointed out to me this evening online, he suggested the mall as a likely place to find the bad guys. This is the guy for Willow. 2) Cordelia, my dear, your secret is out and you didn't have a major wiggins. Good for you. 3) Giles, your loyalties are in place. I admire this guy. Compassion is his middle name. 4) (here come da nitpick) If Buffy's mom was going to drive her to school in the morning, how come nobody had seen her (and everyone was worried about her) until she walked into the library with the clock clearly showing it to be a couple minutes after 1:00 in the afternoon? Much has been said. I'll just add a few things: 1. If Jenny or someone else finds a way to restore Angel's curse and thus "re-soul" him (I love that word), they'd better come up with a different curse. How tragic it would be for Buffy and Angel if he could never afford to be happy or content, lest his soul leave again? It would doom their future together. I can't bear to see her cry like that again. It tore me up. 2. Can we finally accept that Sunnydale has its own shopping mall? The gang got there pretty quickly. Add it to the museum, university, warehouse district, and non-existent miniature golf course in Sunnydale, CA, the "stealth" town. 3. I LOVE those little talks between Giles and Buffy at the end of certain episodes. The one at the end of "Lie to Me" was so beautiful, so poignant, so poetic. The one at the end of "Innocence" was even better. I started to cry. What a wonderful father-figure Giles is to her. Nothing but respect for her, ahhhh... That guy is so lovable! 4. If it weren't for the fact that all love seems doomed on BtVS, I really would like to see Giles marry Joyce, let her in on the secrets, so that Buffy has a complete family, completely behind her. For one thing that ridiculous romance between Buffy and Angel ended. It made no sense from the viewpoint of the characters for them to be together. Now that the numbers are high enough to satisfy TPTB they ended the silly romance. Angel is a real vampire again as he always was. I must confess, I'm in mourning for the demise of Angel. The rebirth of Angelus is small consolation. The drama value is definitely going to be hard to top though, in future episodes. Some questions, though. How come Oz knew that Willow witnessed Cordy and Xander in a clinch? In the van, he says that some people might think that Willow wanted to kiss Oz only to get back at Xander. At the time, Oz wasn't in the library or anywhere near the school. Or at least if he was, they don't show it. Calendar's uncle says that they sent her to watch Angelus and ensure that he doesn't get close to the Slayer. Does this mean that they knew Buffy would be able to give him that one moment of happiness, which would then nullify the curse and change him back to the demon that he was before? Then, in the second part, when Calendar goes to see her uncle, he says it's already too late. Does that mean that at that point he already knows that Angel achieved his moment of happiness and has now lost his soul? Dee I'm going to have to quit watching this show because it's unnatural for an adult to obsess over a TV show. I'm going to have to quit watching this show because I'm spending all my time thinking about it and my life is falling by the way side. SPOILERS) Wow. GREAT episode. Can I just say that Oz is SUCH a great guy! Ah, my cute little Oz, where were you when I was in High School, surrounded by guys who kept sneaking peeks at the linoleum around them? However, one of the things I loved was his unique (to the States) van, with the steering wheel on the right (as opposed to left, not as opposed to wrong. Gads, English can be so confusing!) hand side. We even nit-picked it to death, showing the shadows and side of the road together prove that it wasn't a film error! What happened to his van? My confusion grows exponentially. Poor Buffy!!! First, she gets the stuff-of-nightmares morning-after blowoff from someone she loves, then, she realizes that the one she loves is dead (at least temporarily), and, *worse* that she is the one responsible for his death! Granted, it was accidental and unintentional and all, but I'm sure she's feeling a huge burden of guilt from that, so she's doubly, even triply, suffering! However, she can take a small confort from the thought that Angel was totally contented and happy with her for the first time in over 100 years. That's gotta mean something, at least, right? As for the question of forging...I'm guessing here, so don't shoot me if I'm totally off base, but right now, amost nothing is actually "forged" (as in made through the use of a forge). Shells, ammunitions, cars, etc are made through melting the metal into a liquid, then pouring into a mold. Anyway, that's not forging. Forging, I believe, must involve heating the metal up to increase malleability, but not actually melting and molding it. BTW, must say that I LOVE Xander's instant expertise in all things military. However, why would he know the plans of that base in particular? That would mean that he wasn't just a generic soldier, or what? I don't know. Anyway, Cheers! When the show finished, I said to myself, "What? It just started!" This episode and Monday's episode, SURPRISE, flew by so fast. I was on the edge of my seat for both episodes. Joss is da man!!! Normally a lurker, but had delurk, or is it unlurk, to gather my thoughts together and had to let it all out. This was an exceptional episode. Man, I just love this show. Angel being bad was soooo good, but he was good being good! David Boreanaz had such a range of emotion as bad Angel, it was unbelievable. I was cringing at the scene when he was very harsh to Buffy when Buffy came to his apartment to find him. I had wanted to hit him for being so cruel to Buffy. As good Angel, he broods, he speaks in soft tones, he's sensitive and all he normally thinks about is Buffy which is okay by me, but as bad Angel, he raises his voice, he yells, he doesn't care who he hurts and he's funny! He was so great as being bad Angel, that I want him back being good. It's so scary seing him so good being bad. Hmmmm....Angel smokes! But actually, it was be great to see how Joss writes the Dru/Spike/Angel triangle now since Angelus is back. I still get the chills when Angel first went looking for Dru and Spike and they realized Angelus was back and Dru questioned him and Angel said, "Yeah Baby, I'm back!" Buffy and Slayerettes definitely watch out. If I remember correctly, from last season's "Angel" when Giles was looking up Angelus, he had mentioned that Angelus was a very powerful vampire warrior and was the master's right hand man. Am I remembering it correctly? If that's the case, Angel would be doubly hard to take down than Dru and Spike as Angel undoubtedly has the brains in this trio. Spike had used brute force to take down the slayer but as Angel put it, "You had to first love her." Willow and Oz...Ah, Oz... He is just growing on me more and more each episode I see him. I love them together. They're great. I love his "...I can wait" line. It was so sweet. Xander and Cordelia...sorry, still doesn't sit well with me. I was always hoping for a Xander and Willow, but that's won't happen anytime soon. Poor Jenny. Both Buffy and Giles rebuffed her. I have so much thoughts floating in my head that it's so hard to type it up. All I keep thinking and saying is WOW! Does anyone know how many episodes will Angel be bad? And if he does revert to good, how will it happen as Jenny had said to Buffy that there's nothing they can do to reverse the curse or anything. I can't wait till next week's episode...ugggghhhhh...another week to go. But I do have a question based on the spoiler's for next week. So if you don't want to know about it, I guess this is the end of the line for you. Thanks for keeping me company by reading my long and confusing post. S P O I L E R S P A C E Hi, you're still here. The end of the spoilers for next week has Buffy and Xander hugging and Buffy saying to him that he's out to get her. Does she mean the werewolf or Angel? Also, will this be the start of a Buffy/Xander pairing as I keep reading rumors about the pairing between those two while Angel is bad. Maz - - ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Jan 1998 09:55:50 EST From: RayneFire Subject: BUFFY: Random thoughts and ratings I just can't seem to stop thinking about Surprise and Innocence! Here are some random thoughts: When Willow said, "And anyway, Angel's coming, so she'll be able to protect him and have cake." The first thing that popped into my mind was, She'll be able to have cake and Angel too! Does that fishing wire in Spike's eyebrow bother anyone else as much as me??? I've noticed it from the first day he showed up in Sunnydale, and I keep expecting someone to grab it and yank it out (Ouch!) I wonder if that's just makeup, or if James has his eyebrow pierced! I definitely don't want Xander and Buffy together. I really like them as friends. I like the three of them (Buffy/Xander/Willow) being friends and just friends. I think if any of them paired up, it would hurt the core of the show. I loved the simplicity of Xander's plan to get the judge! I was all caught up in this no weapon forged can destroy him....thinking he would be impossible to kill. And then Xander comes up with his brilliantly simplistic thought and plan! Perfect! While my mind was reviewing the episode and not sleeping last night (curse you Joss!) I started thinking about the different relationships. Buffy has them all. Lust (Xander/Cordy) Love (Buffy/Angel) well....before last night that is! Like (Willow/Oz) with great potential I really like how all three are going on at the same time. And I've got to say that my favorite is the relationship between Willow and Oz! I want an Oz!!! I had a seriously scary thought! Next week is a new show. That covers January. That leaves only 7 new shows for 4 months! 7 shows for 17 Tuesdays! Nooooooooooo! How am I going to survive the summer?! Couple of quick notes on ratings. Bad Eggs came in at #94 with it's 4.1. It was the highest rated WB (and UPN) program for the week, and it beat out 2 ABC shows and 1 Fox show! Also, Monday's airing of "Surprise", even though it came in behind 7th Heaven, it was the WB's highest show ever in the 18-49 ratings! WB even tied with CBS on Monday in that category! Those of you who are worried about cancellation because of low ratings, I really don't think you have anything to worry about. Buffy is consistently one of the WB's highest rated shows! I do wonder if there's going to be any Evil Angel fallout though. I checked out the posting board last night, and quite a few people were really mad that Angel had turned evil. I was really surprised! Well, I've babbled enough for one day! Tables are turned huh butthead!!!!!!! Giles: way to go in telling Calendar off. That "b" needed to get thrown around the room when Buffy came rushing in there. I honestly felt for the guy when he told Jenny to leave in response to Buffy. Xander: good plan for the judge, but bad plan for Cordelia. Stay with her, but not in the library! Willow: Take this from a guy. Oz is the man for you. Xander is too stupid and insensitive for you. Oz is willing to wait.......go for it Angel/Angelus: Bad Form............. Cordelia: not much I can say that would have any effect on you...... Calendar: you better find a way to put that curse back on Angel...... that's it for now. Okay... so I am just _waiting_ for him to try and kill her and then see the ring. Maybe thats how her and Angel will get along again..... because she wears his clan ring thingee bobber, and maybe he won't be able to kill her, etc etc >> First of all, its a Claddagh ring, not a clan ring. It's also known as an Irish wedding band (at least I've heard it referred to as that). It has nothing to do with his clan and will not stop him from killing her. It was used in this case, I believe, as a sort of *promise ring*, a sign of his love and loyalty to Buffy. Without his soul, he no longer feels the love and loyalty. If you wear the ring with the heart turned in towards you, it means that your heart belongs to someone. If you wear it with the heart facing outwards, it means that your heart is not taken. I wear one that my boyfriend gave to me. Slayer5454@aol.com (Melissa S. Heckard) "I wasn't going to use violence. I don't always use violence. Do I?"
