That's what I was thinking, that Diana was chosen because of that revenge thing. Xander's intent was to frustrate love; he wanted Cordelia to love him so he could spurn her, make her suffer like she made him suffer. Venus would not consider that a pure intent; she's in FAVOR of love. But Diana might appreciate that intent; the spell might be saying "Diana, make Cordelia attracted to Xander so he can reject her and make her suffer, just as you rejected and made suffer those who were attracted to you." The whole "change into animal and send dogs after" bit means Diana IS associated with the idea of rejecting sex/love and making the one attracted to her suffer. Venus is the goddess of love, but Diana is the goddess of "love sucks", so to speak, and the latter is what fits Xander's intent. If Angelus converted him to a vamp, then maybe B would be put in the position of being obligated to dispatch him too! Angelus has seen that B could not kill him, and no doubt knows from his experiment with Theresa that B did not do her duty, and Xander actually dusted T, even though T was only an acquaintence. A could go to LA to find Dad, but it would be better if Dad came to Sunnydale. No doubt Principal Snyder can think of lots of reasons why a parent conference with Dad would be justified, since Joyce is not getting the job done. I have to think that news of B's assault on Ms C in front of her class has probably come to the Principal's attention! Then there is the police report of B's assault on Ted, and just maybe a surveillence vid of B with a rocket launcher at the mall...
