From time to time an ISP goes down for some unexplained reason. When that happens, your ISP will send a bounce message to the buffy admin account at xmission for every message sent to that account. If one address is bouncing it's not a big deal. But when even five addresses start bouncing, particularly after a new episode airs, it can result in hundreds of messages in the administrative account that need to be sorted through. To save us a lot of headache, Jill and I usually uns*bscribe an address if it generates more than two bounces. Once might be a fluke, two might even be a fluke. But more than two generally means there's something really wrong. When this happens, we can't contact you since your address is having problems, so we just remove you from the list. If you suddenly stop receiving list mail and haven't been contacted by one of us, this is probably the reason why. Just res*bscribe to the list and all should be well. 2. If you're going away for a trip, please uns*bscribe from the list, especially if your ISP has notoriously small mailbox space, like AOL, Juno, HotMaiL, or any of the other free service providers. I have to (surprise) disagree with you. It just showed how much he really cares about Willow. Heck, when I saw the repeat all I could think of was that final scene right before Buffy hammers some sense into the Master. Giles inquires about Buffy, and Xander replies "She's working out her issues". But the important part here is that while he says this, he's holding Willow. My view is that anne Rice would be a bit...serious. I work in a B. Dalton in Denver and, thus, I do a lotta reading. Buffy works, in my opinion, becuz the shows are serious yet humorous, scary yet flippant. I'm not completely sure Rice could hang with that kinda combo. How about Christopher Golden? Anyone ever read "Of Saints and Shadows?" It's a great vamp book (series, actually...) with a style very much like Buffy. On the whole "Changed characters" show idea (Ie. Cordy becomes Buffy, etc, etc), I like it! And Buffy's mom would be replaced with...Buffy's dad! Let's face it, we've never seen him, so he could be anyone! Scott Bakula, Brent Spiner, Sam Niell, or even...Kiefer Sutherland. Wouldn't that be a kick!?! Here's another one. Some magical creature/being distorts time-space and shoots Xander into the future, where he meets the future Willow. Willow has become the watcher (Anything in Buffy-dom that says a watcher has to be a man?) to a new Slayer, Buffy's daughter, who is faced with the same being that shot Xander forward into time. We later find out that this same being has killed both Giles and...Xander and, in the long run, destroyed Buffy...Well, anyway, somethin' like that...A more serious Cordy would still be in the picture, maybe raising Buffy's orphan daughter and all of this, obviously, would have a much more serious tone to it that regular. Any thoughts? By the way, what's all this "Keeper of..." thing? Granted, there are a lot of people who are upset, and with good reason. All the regulars of the Posting Board at buffyslayer.com, are upset, which is understandable, when only a month ago the executives for the show threw a party for the regulars on the Posting Board, and people from all over this continent went... and now, they're disbanning this board?! I think NOT! After all, this is the only board that I know of, where cast members and writers post frequently. With the new board at buffythevampireslayer.com, I can't see the VIP's posting due to the fact that everyone will be there, not just the "mature" ones, for lack of a better word. The conversations on the Posting board right now are very intelligent and delve deep into plotlines, and storylines, and what if's... There's rarely any "Angel's such a hottie," and stuff like that... I agree with a lot of people that this new site is "different", but I also think that it's VERY well done. The only thing they'll have to change is their server, because it's soooo slow. And the fact that you have to have shockwave or realplayer kind of sucks because with my computer, there is a block against downloading these programs, so it makes it a little difficult to do a lot on this site... I can't imagine how any creature that produces testosterone or estrogen and ovulates, menstruates, or ejaculates (and on top of all that, we humans have brains!) could ever be inherently *asexual*. Because of this belief, I think such a personality trait would be due to external influences, such as a centuries-old stereotype. >>>the decade of the PC, (PS: PC reads: Men wrong)<< This was just silly, unnecessary, and inaccurate. >>>>Oh come on, now. :-( That's not playing fair; not only is talking about subconcious thoughts impossible to argue against,<<< I'll help you; one point to argue against, and the intended topic of my original post was whether and why there are so few females in the background of the Buffyverse, especially in positions of power. I was suggesting an explanation for a phenomenon I had observed; a phenomenon which you do not dispute but dismiss as "insignificant". In coming up with reasons why a fictional universe has certain aspects, speculation about the psychology of the author is not unusual; but if you didn't like my explanation you were free to come up with your own. Maybe there was a shortage of decent adult female actresses applying for jobs as extras? Not very likely, but hey, you never know... Ironically, most of the people who actually wanted to *discuss* that contacted me privately, rather than on-list. I was hoping for more on-list discussion along the lines of "there was this character" or "was gender important in the casting of this character" (I still think Snyder is essentially a genderless character, but I wouldn't want to inhibit any extra Quark sightings ;-). This is entirely possible; I guess I made that assumption because I have often heard about how much interest, control and leeway Joss has in the show. I think a great deal of the consistent quality of the show - --especially the relative consistency and quality in character development-- is probably due to this interest. Still when I think of other shows I have enjoyed--B5, Voyager, Homocide--and those I watch often enough to at least be aware of --ER, DS9, NYPD Blue-- they seem to have a more realisticly mixed background cast; even though B5 is the only one with as involved a creator (ISFAIK). This doesn't mean I like the plots or characters of these shows more than Buffys' (except Homocide) just because I think their casting directors have a better eye...maybe it's a matter of experience.
