San Diego Comic-Con, is August 13-16 Allyson, David, and Joss will be appearing on the Saturday of the con, the 15th. It's too late to pre-register for the con, so you'll have to show up the day of to get a pass to get inside. As for autographs, if there is going to be as many people there as i think there will be to see them, then i think i can 99% safely say, they will limit autographs to one signature per person, per guest...meaning, if you stand in line, you can only get one signature each from Allyson, David, and Joss...so for those that are asking for autographs, sorry, but it's most likely not going to happen...if someone is going to wait in line long enough for an autograph, chances are its going to be for themselves..unless very few people show up and they do 2 or 3 autographs per person, or they are at the booths later...but i must say i have seen commercials advertising the Con and the first people they mention as guests are "cast members from Buffy the Vampire Slayer", and theyre running those commercials heavily during Buffy episodes, so i think there's going to be a large crowd there. As for a meet, i think those of us that are going should maybe start emailing each other as one big group...so if everyone that is going and wants to meet, can email me, i can send out a mass mail and we can respond to that, so we can all communicate without having to clutter the Buffy List moreso then others would like :) jason - ------- "they say your brain is a comic book tattoo" http://members.aol.com/FlynDchmn/tori.html - - ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 7 Aug 1998 21:10:28 EDT From: Subject: BUFFY: UNREALISTIC? NO WAY!!!! Hi! I think there was a little misunderstanding when I wrote "I know people who say 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer? How idiotic!' And they think Sailor Moon is the ultimate TV show." Nothing wrong with Sailor Moon. I like that show. I was just trying to say that it's a little hypocritical of someone to call Buffy idiotic when they like to watch 5 teenaged, Japanese girls kick Negaverse-monster butt. They should give Buffy a chance first. It's like the pot calling the kettle black. That's just IMHO. I like dawson's creek and *probably* will continue to watch it next season (even tho it isn't on the same night as buffy) but i must say, Buffy is hella more realistic than DC!!! the dawson's creek kids have nothing on their mind but sex and popularity. do they ever worry about school work? do you ever see them up at night studying? in fact, do you ever see them in a class learing?? no! Buffy is so much more realistic it's not even funny. Plus the DC kids talk like the college proffesors talking with each other. Half the time, i don't even have the slightest clue what the hell the DC kids are talking about. But i love the buffy dialogue and one liners. plus their lifes are as normal as it gets when it comes to saving the world from vampires! they still study for tests, do their homework, etc... even talk on the phone!!! these DC people really need to learn about the phone i'm sure it's hella easier than rowing that damn boat. but then i guess it'd be called Dawson's Phone instead... but don't get me wrong, i like DC but when it comes right down to it, it's just another unrealistic soap opera. And it's also fun to find the episode names hidden in the episode. I can think of a couple off hand (not perfectly quoted, sorry) Lie to me - the comment where buffy says "lie to me" and then giles goes, "bla bla bla and everybody lives happily ever after" "liar" Becoming - angel "i want...i want to become someone" although i don't think the title really fits the episode. how 'bout "close your eyes"? no i don't think so... What's my line - buffy "it's like we're playing a game of what's my line and i don't have a script" this title really doesn't fit the episode. and besides the quote, it really doesn't make sense to the ep nightmares m- the word was used a lot which was cool but most memorable i think when willow said it when they were talking to that phsyco spider dude. they're arachnids! AHHHHHH!!! what is wrong with our society that people don't know this!!!!! well, besides spike, dru no wait dru, spike (put her name first for once!) angelus, vampires, demons, harmony, ethan, and syder --i have no idea suprise - for cordelia's kick ass "surprise!" i don't understand why everyone thought it was out of place, i thought it was perfect for our non-tact girl passion - the coolest name for an episode that could've been given. even though execpt for the voice over it really means (to me anyway) that as someone put it, buffy's still the most important thing in his life. I still don't get how jenny's dying had anything to do with passion but i still love the ep title the harvest - duh, the harvest i only have eyes for you - the perfect song for the ep and good title cuz, i mean, they could've called it "ghosts" "second chance" or something. second chance--hey... that's all i can think of right now Can you find more? When she was bad, innocence, phases, bewitched bothered bewildered are beyond me. ~Mica http://surf.to/sunnydale **and for the quote topic, one of my all time faves is "When he wakes up, tell him...I don't know, think of something cool and tell him I said it." that is so realistic, you know, that the heroine can't always think of one-liners and that she was feeling so weird inside that she couldn't think of something to convey her emotions, when she herself couldn't understand why she is going off to her doom. - - ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 8 Aug 1998 00:41:46 EDT From: Subject: Re: BUFFY: Episode Titles In a message dated 98-08-08 00:38:34 EDT, IWatchBuffy@webtv.net writes: > passion - the coolest name for an episode that could've been given. even > though execpt for the voice over it really means (to me anyway) that as > someone put it, buffy's still the most important thing in his life. DC doesn't use big words in place of small ones ("Allow me to elucidate" instead of "Let me tell you"), it uses stilted language that makes every speaker sound socially uncomfortable. I don't think it's bad acting, I think it's such artificial writing that no one could pull it off. Imagine Sean Connery or some such saying it, and it still sounds silly. What's Katie Holmes supposed to do when Dawson says their relationship is "terminated?" Say I'll be back, and then drive through the wall of his house and blow everyone away a la The Terminator? Are there people running around America telling their ex-friends and -loved ones, "you're terminated!" Methinks not. In contrast, Buffy's language sounds real (this being totally subjective and not very convincing to someone who disagrees, which is the wordy way of saying IMO). What DC has going for it is that the language is so unnatural that it's funny. Buffy has funny lines, but the use of language itself on DC is one continuous joke.
