Sure she insults and whines along the way but she generally does the "right" thing in the end. I think it's going to be >EXPLOSIVE! There's so many ways to go. First, I think that a distinct possibility is that Cordelia will try to act as though she just doesn't care that much that she's lost Xander to Willow. After all, if she did explode and try to take a chunk out of Willow, it would be showing everyone that she really did care a lot about Xander after all. And I don't think that's something she would want to admit. I call this the "Fine. Whatever. You can *have* the loser" scenario. Of course it needs to be accompanied with some insight into what Cordy is really feeling. I can actually see her breaking down and crying by herself somewhere. But I don't picture Cordelia feeling sorry for herself for long; I see her looking for revenge shortly thereafter. But my guess is that the revenge wouldn't be a physical confrontation but something more secretive so that Cordy can maintain her facade of not caring. Joss is one creative guy so I think he could do better than a simple fight, hopefully with one of the supernatural twists that make this show great. >I'm wondering if they will do the Cordelia/Willow confrontation >humorously. Will it be in a mud pit? Well, actually, that sounds good too. In my last post about Band Candy, I neglected to mention my growing discontent with the character of Mr. Trick. Several other people have mentioned this, and I have to agree. His character is really being wasted as a mere henchman. He had such amazing potential in FH,T but since then he has really dissapointed me. I don't know if this extreme underuse is preparing for Spike's return, at which time Spike will resume control of things. If this is the case, I think that Mr T will really have gotten a bum deal. I was expecting great things from him, but so far he hasn't delivered. On a completly unrelated side note, as I was doing some research today I was reading an article by a woman named Polly Wolfe. In her article, Ms Wolfe discusses a school system under the pseudonym of Sunnydale Middle School. The article is from 1997, so I suppose it is possible that she is a fan of the show. :) VampGirl Keeper of Willow's interrogation techniques (GF), Xander's design plans for the very tiny fence he believed Buffy was buliding (WttH), Joyce's industrial strength detergent (for getting the blood out of Buffy's clothes), Dru's "Angel always knows what speaks to a girl's heart," (BBB), Xander's "Oh yea baby, its snake-o-licious in here (IOHEFY), Giles' weapons cabinet in the library, adoptive mother to fishman Gage (GF), owner of 250 shares of David Boreanz, BRLQ #67 - - ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Nov 1998 17:41:53 EST From: RawlzWar@aol.com Subject: Re: BUFFY: band candy In a message dated 11/10/98 11:58:48 PM Eastern Standard Time, kmasters@rof.net writes: << Oh, and one more thing. If I was writing an argument for Xander to use (not necessarily what I believe myself): Angel kills people when he IS himself. Xander was under the hyena spell/curse, Oz is cursed by lycanthropy, add that Willow tried to kill Xander with an ax under the love spell, etc. But Angel is a vampire; his NORMAL state is cruel vicious killer. It's only when a curse artificially restrains him that he doesn't kill. That you sometimes manage to lock up the homicidal psychopath so he can't kill for a while hardly excuses the killings he did the last time he escaped. - - ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Nov 1998 20:22:23 -0500 From: TedJMill@mindspring.com Subject: Re: BUFFY: Band Candy A further thought on the interpretation of "Band Candy" as a subtle anti-abortion message; how about the episode "Anne" as a subtle message FAVORING legal abortion? 1) You have teenagers who made a mistake: they ran away from home and ended up in the demons' world = had sex and ended up pregnant. 2) The demons won't let them escape = won't let them get abortions 3) The teens are forced into a life they didn't want: working in the demon's factory = have to go through pregnancy + childbirth, had to get married, etc. 4) The accelerated time in the demons' world makes the teens get old before their time = a girl is a teenage mother instead of being able to take part in teenage activities. 5) But Buffy defeats the demons and enables the teens to escape = made abortion available to the teens. 6) And as a result, the teens can go on to lives of their own choosing (Chanterelle moves in to Buffy's apartment) = making abortion available means that teenage girls don't have their lives ruined by one mistake. - - ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Nov 1998 22:19:18 -0400 From: Denis Theriault Subject: BUFFY: NEXT EP VIDEO PREVIEW Does anyone know or remember the adress of the buffy site from a tv station which shows a video preview of next weeks ep?? I thought it was a very nice touch on Joss and/or ASH's part. Regarding Snyder on "Band Candy," I now wonder about his relationship with the mayor and where he fits into the mayor's (literally) diabolical scheme. All along, we've been led to think that he's in cahoots with the mayor. After "Band Candy," though, it seems more that he's a pawn of the mayor -- notice how Snyder was also turned into a teenager...I would think that if he was really in on the mayor's scheme, he would not have eaten the cursed candy -- he should've received some warning about its nature. And notice that when he reverted to a teenager, he wanted to work with the Scooby gang to stop the mayor/Ethan, or at least find out what was going on. Overall, I liked the episode...but there was one thing I didn't care for too much. When I saw the demon, I thought, "Anaconda!" The episode as a whole reminded me of the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode, "The Game," in which the Enterprise crew became addicted to a game as part of an alien's plot to capture the Enterprise. Given that there will be a new Watcher (Faith's), I would further speculate that another Slayer is activated as Faith's replacement. And, I would bet that Cordelia is the new Slayer (which would sort of open the door to her leaving the cast of Buffy to join the cast of Angel as the resident Slayer). Last week's episode (with SlayerFest '98) might have been foreshadowing to that...especially Cordelia's standing up to Lyle Gorch. Everything from the photo galleries to the episode pages are being updated. All the photo galleries have been updated with new pictures and better designs. (they should all be up by the end of the day.) Cast pages are much more extensive and now include: Lost Cast, Dead Cast, Supporting Cast as well as the basic cast listings for each episode. Villian page are also being added. A new section will be added tomorrow: Musical Interviews. I've worked out interviews with many of the bands that have played on the show and asked them about their work on Buffy and as a band. Of course the Spoiler pages, Current Events, and all the other sections have been updated too with all the latest information. I'm still working on many of the transcripts that have still yet to be added. The Banner pages didn't update much because I'm behind with my banner searches. If you do have a banner that is *not* already on my list, please send me the HTML or if you absolutely must, the image itself and the addy for your site. From now on, major updates the site will be made every Saturday. However, Quotes, Episode Pages, Events and Spoilers will all be updated when I get the info.
