Actually, Amanda is a staunch Xander/Buffy fan and wants them to be together. We've exchanged lots of private e-mail about it and my post was a joke kidding her. Last thing in the world Amanda would want to be is President of the Buffy & Angel Forever Club. If anything she'd be the President of the Buffy & Xander Forever Club. But like I said, you're right, you should speak up your mind and all types and manner of opinion. Now, about Buffy and Xander and Buffy and Angel...I'm thinking Marusky posted the most interesting post about all of this because she shared with us her own personal painful experience of losing a good friend because they tried to be romantic. Yet, if you've seen movies like When Harry Met Sally or the tv series Lois and Clark, you see male/female friends becoming lovers and then husband and wife. YET, in When Harry Met Sally, the Billy Crystal character makes a statement "that a guy and a girl can never really be friends, there's always that sex thing." I thought that was kind of cynical but maybe true to some degree. I'm thinking that what he meant is that guys can't really be close to women because they would always be wondering about what it's like to have sex with them and if they did it would either lead to a deeper relationship or the end of whatever they had. Anyone else feel this way? I mean do you guys have close female friends you never have honestly thought about sexually? And have any of you girls that have male friends never thought about them sexually? Thinking about it and doing it are two different things, but if you can think about it, it just might happen. And, if it happens, I guess it would lead to what the Billy Crystal character said. Be honest. I mean when you guys look at a girl who you think of just as a friend, don't tell me if she is wearing short shorts, all you think about is a platonic friendship. funee ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. I >think you >can be friends with someone after you've dated, but it takes time to >get I'm wondering though about the guy you thought about as a brother. Whenever two people start getting intimate, I mean not sexually, just sharing everything, telling each other secrets, sharing emotions, etc. etc. there is a bond built and for guys I think it can easily turn physical. You may only think of the guy as a brother but deep inside of that guy's heart, what is he thinking? It might surprise you. Like the Billy Crystal character said: "A guy and girl can't be 'just' friends." Take Xander and Willow, for example. They grew up together like brother and sister. They portray Willow as always having been in love with Xander and Xander thinking of Willow as a friend but not in a sexual way. I'm kinda thinking this is hard to accept. Alyson/Willow is a very cute, sexy girl. Any guy like Xander who admitted that 'linoleum makes me horny' would have noticed Willow as a pretty girl sometime between junior high and high school at least, I would think. Don't you guys agree? I mean unless Xander was blind there is no excuse for him not seeing Willow as an attractive female. Realistically, I'm thinking Xander and Willow would have had somekind of romance in junior high school already and the situation resolved, instead of it being dragged out like this to senior year of high school. However, since the situation is like it is, and since Xander is obviously attracted to Willow, attracted to Buffy, attracted to Faith, attracted to monsters (Inca Mummy Girl), and anything in a skirt actually, ANYTHING can happen. LOL! funee (who's thinking we shouldn't take the show too seriously cause it's an evil plot by Joss Whedon to play with our minds and emotions) ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. There's absolutly no hint or worry about us being attracted to each other. I think if we were to be attracted to each other it would make things akward and potentially ruin ourfriendship. As I said it was funny when Buffy came on to Xander in "Bewitched, Bewildered..." and funny when Xander did the macho thing in "The pack," and why? Because they were possessed. There are no hard feelings when you can say, "Hello. I'm sorry. I was possessed." Only then can Xander and Buffy be a couple. 2. I'm probably guessing since Angel is getting his own show, that Buffy will have to have some new love interests. I'm sort of looking forward to this, as I will for Angel. It will be neat to see how each of them react to new relationships 3. I think Sarah's new movie "Simply..." I think they were going for an older look. 4. I am tired of reruns. Buffy is a very "white" show. It's not culturally diverse AT ALL. A black= vampire is not representative of a black cast, and as a black vampire, he= is symbolically annhilated, relegated to a lesser and temporary position.= Blacks who have arrived on the show, Kendra and Ampata (I guess she was, sort of) were from SOMEWHERE ELSE. I can't even think of any black classmates (or Asian, Russian, Hispanic, ......). The same is very true of the WB's DAWSON'S CREEK with the exception of Joey's sister's boyfriend who has now gone missing. However, in defense of these shows, they are written by two white guys, drawing on their high school experiences, that were pretty much all white= . The problem here is one of realism. There are many high schools in Americ= a that are predominately white. So showing such a place and a cast is not really totally unrealistic. But many would consider it politically incorrect. We want diversity these= days and studies have shown, mostly, that ethnic and racial groups tend t= o gravitate to shows showing members of their groups. However, would an infusion of blacks, asians, and hispanics be true to th= e experiences of Joss and Kevin. Probably not. And creating a "token" black or member of some other group would be almos= t as bad as having NONE. On the other hand, the WB itself is hardly "white-washed." In fact, the opposite. WB forged its path with shows about black people, like STEVE HARVEY; WAYANS BROS; SISTER, SISTER; SMART GUY; and more.
