They saw Buffy, Giles, Willow and Oz, sitting around a computer terminal. Willow looked up from her computer terminal, "Here's the happy couple Giles." Xander and Cordelia looked and each other, "nah" they both said. They went over to a couple of the spare seats. "So what's up this morning?" Xander asked. Giles answered, "Buffy had a visit from Angel last night." "Oh God, are you O.K.?" Cordelia asked "Yeah I'm Fine", still trying to come to grips that Cordelia actually showed concern these days, "It was more of a psychological meeting." Xander leaned forward on the table, "So what did he want?" Buffy looked him straight in the eye; "He wanted to tell me that one of my friends would die tonight." Cordelia got up off her chair, "O.K. now look, is it only me that sees that we are all in danger here. I mean hello! We have been told one of us will die tonight, let's like get out of here" "To where Cordelia?" Willow asked, not really expecting an answer, "We have lived with Angels death threat for months. So he said it again. It's not like he hasn't tried to kill us before." "Yes, but why tempt fate?" she replied. "Cordelia, no-one knows more than me the danger you are in. If you weren't friends of mine you wouldn't be in that danger. You would of course be in as much danger as the rest of the population. But I think we should still go out tonight. Let's face it we will all be together. And I really don't want to boast but my training job is coming along quite well," she looked at Giles, "... our training job." Giles looked at Buffy and then at Cordelia, "Cordelia, you are of course free to stay at home, you will be safe there, but as Buffy has told me in no uncertain terms, you are teenagers, you need to go out occasionally." Cordelia was looking at Xander wondering why he hadn't said anything. He noticed her staring and shrugged his shoulder, "I say we go out. I am sick of Angel trying to run our lives." Giles sat down again, "Now look, there are a couple of things that you should all do. Number One; carry your crosses. It won't save you but it will give you a little time. Number Two; arrive there in daylight. That will eliminate one of the most obvious potential attack places. Number Three; stay together, it will harder to attack you as a group. Number 4 do not go anywhere by yourself. We all know they can get into the Bronze so don't trust anyone. Lastly, take a stock of tools to use against them if you have to. Of course only things you can hide, otherwise you won't get in." The group nodded in agreement. "Well I think the School Bell has already rung, you better stay here till next class and hope Principal Snyder doesn't come looking for you." ............................... Buffy felt a shiver as she closed the door to her house. "That was weird," she thought, as she wiped the sweat from your forehead. She had come to get use to the strange feeling in Sunnydale. Part of it was her slayer abilities, but she was sure it was almost as nature was sending clues to everyone, that there was something seriously wrong in this place. She glanced at her watch; "good there's a couple of hours till I have to meet up with everybody". Buffy was tired more mentally than physically. She was tired of the constant battle with Angel, made worse by the knowledge that it's not his fault he's like he is. It took her a while but she was now certain she could kill him if the need arose. Of course she hadn't yet so there was always the doubt in her mind that she could follow through if she needed to. What she wanted was to do nothing but soak in a bath for an hour or so, a reasonably normal thing to do for any teenager. "If only I was one," she whispered to herself. ................. Xander looked at himself in the mirror. "Oh god, the geek is back," he said, thinking it was to himself. "Xander, please, it's not as if I love you for your fashion sense. That would be sick", Cordelia said as she came up behind him, putting her arms around his waist. "And I see your fashion sense hasn't helped me, doesn't say much for your future in the industry" Xander returned. "Xander, darling, If I thought I had a shot at helping I would have. Afraid my time was taken up with getting you to chew and talk at different times." Xander took a last look at the mirror and turned to face Cordelia, "I thought you would be more happy I have learnt to breathe through my nose, it certainly makes kissing much more enjoyable" "Yes it does," she replied just before her lips met his. .................... "The time approaches, Angel", Spike called from the other room, "Hurry Up" Angel surveyed the room. He had spent the last hour making sure the room was exactly how he wanted it to be. "I'm almost done, Spike. I am just waiting for a special delivery from my old dwellings, then I will be ready." Spike came from one of the entrances and looked around the room. He didn't understand Angel's need for this. He wanted to kill the Slayer, quickly. Get her out of the way and then they would be free to do as they please. "Mind you," he thought, "It would be good to punish the Slayer". Spike thought about it once more and came to the conclusion that if Angel's plan did not work tonight, then maybe it would be time to make a move. "Hmmm, I win both ways" he chuckled to himself, forgetting the fact that sound traveled in the warehouse. "What's that Spike" Angel enquired moving towards him. "Nothing Angel, just dreaming of dead Slayers," Spike replied hoping Angel didn't see in his eyes what he was planning. "So what are you bringing from your old apartment?" Angel looked Spike straight in the eye, "something that will make the night complete." **************************************************************** hazman@powerup.com.au Visit Slayer's Down Under at http://www.powerup.com.au/~hazman/index3.htm The Offical Keeper of: "There is a beautiful, big full moon outside tonight. To say he was engrossed would be an understatement. Ever since the fateful night that Angel's curse had been lifted and his soul had been taken again, he had become his worst nightmare. Something that was compounded with Angel's brutal murder of Jenny. He had to beat him, for Jenny, for Buffy and maybe more importantly for his own soul. The school library had become the unofficial headquarters of Buffy and her friends. Of course that was to be expected, as Giles was the School Librarian. The library was an unusual design. The books were mostly situated on a raised level at the back, which curled around the bottom level. It was amazing the library still looked as good, considering the number of vampires and various demons that had been fought there. Giles had a dignified reserved air about him. He was in his early forties, and considered quite handsome, not by himself but then again he didn't concern himself in those matters. His English accent accentuated people's perception that he was stand offish and a little bit full of himself. The truth was that he was very serious about the job that he had been born into, that of a watcher. Not that it had always been that way, he had dabbled in some questionable practices while at university and they had come back to haunt him, but since then he had been very focused. Perhaps that's why he had been so lenient with Buffy. By all accounts she should have kept her Slayer position secret and been dedicated to the task needed to the exception of all other things. That pretty much changed on the first couple of days after he met her. Now it seemed that more people knew about Buffy's supposed secret than didn't, although in reality only five people knew, not counting the vampires. He knew he had become almost a father figure to her, and he had no problem returning those feelings. She was a very easy person to be loyal to. ............................................................................ ....... Outside in the school grounds, Buffy and her best friend Willow sat chatting on one of the benches that dotted the central quad. Buffy was the elder looking of the two had mid length blonde hair, was in the mid five feet height and had a pleasant optimistic face, that often showed a much more serious side to those who could look past the obvious features. Willow, although the same age and height looked a good deal younger, she had long mid brown hair, although it had a tendency to look red more often than not, and the face of an innocent naive teenager. Buffy had remarked a number of times with a wry grin that Willow could never be accused of doing something wrong as she looked too innocent to do anything wrong. "So fill me in, how was the date last night with Oz?" Buffy asked, with obvious happiness that Willow's relationship was still going strong. "Oh fine, fine...he kisses so good.' Willow blushed and giggled at the same time. "I saw stars, or something, it was really good." "Chalk another one up for romance," Buffy said. Willow saw a little glint of sadness in Buffy's eyes. She knew it still hurt her so bad that Angel was now her enemy, instead of her lover. What made it worse was because Buffy had made love to Angel, her first time, it had caused the curse to be lifted. Buffy saw Willow looking at her. She tried to keep her pain hidden as much as possible from her friends, especially since she didn't want to be a downer on their relationships. Change the subject she thought. "So have you seen Xander today?" she asked. "No. He's probably meeting up with Cordelia." "Weird I didn't think that would last. I mean I love Xander and nothing against Cordelia but them together...go figure!" "Well I am going out with a Werewolf, I don't think I can really comment." Buffy and Willow looked at each other and laughed. ............................................................................ ....... Xander Harris felt great. For years he was a bit of a joke. To guys he was a dork; to girls he was the guy who perennially asked them out in the vain hope that one of them would say yes. Although he had suffered a big let down when Buffy had rebuked him almost twelve months ago, he still counted her as one of his best friends and then there was Willow. He knew of course she had a crush on him, but it was an ironic twist of fate, while he was chasing Buffy, when all she wanted to do was stay friends, Willow had the same feelings for him and all he did want was to stay friends. Everything changed four months ago and he never could have guessed in his wildest dreams what or more importantly who would change things. Cordelia Chase. She had put him down almost everyday in the last twelve years. Yet in all their sarcastic barbs that flew between the two their feelings changed for one and other. In fact they first kissed straight after yet another shouting match. It almost seemed that they would either kiss or hit each other. Well they were holed up in Buffy's basement hiding from a bug man bounty hunter. Cordelia although growing to love Xander found it hard to believe that she was feeling the things she was for the same person she and her friends had ridiculed for so long. So much so she swore Xander to secrecy for weeks, until Willow discovered them kissing. Then she had even broken up with him because her friends had put pressure on her. Eventually it was a failed spell Xander had arranged to put on Cordelia, which backfired that finally convinced Cordelia that her feelings for Xander were more important than her friends. "Xander?" called Cordelia as she walked up the front steps at the school. She was a person of striking beauty; five feet 8 inches, long dark hair, and a smile than Xander would die for. She was of course wearing the latest outfit that she considered in, on that day. Xander turned around and smiled, "Cordy," they greeted each other with a kiss. "So still dressing in the dark?" Cordelia asked "Yes well, I felt I should do my bit to conserve all the electricity that you use. You know, hot water, hair dryer etc.." "Well fair enough then" **************************************************************** hazman@powerup.com.au Visit Slayer's Down Under at http://www.powerup.com.au/~hazman/index3.htm The Offical Keeper of: "There is a beautiful, big full moon outside tonight. Giles looked up from his book and muttered a greeting. He was obviously engrossed. "What ya reading?" Buffy asked. "Oh .. Research on Angel, you know information gives you the advantage" "Oh" Buffy responded and immediately wished she hadn't asked. "Buffy, I can not let that happen again" Buffy knew exactly what he was talking about. "Giles, we can't let that happen again. O.K.?" she smiled at him. He looked at her and gave his best reassuring smile he could. "Hi Guys", Xander said as he and Cordelia walked through the library doors, "What's up?" "More Doom and Gloom," Buffy responded. "Oh, nothing new then," Cordelia said as Xander and she took their seats at the table. Giles gave her a stern look, "Cordelia you have to take this seriously. Angel is one of the most vicious of vampires I have records on." Cordelia looked at him as a child would, when a parent chastised it. Before she could respond Buffy took Giles aside. "Giles, We have heard this all before. I know he is dangerous. The simple fact he's still alive proves to me that he's different than most of the other vamps around. We are all still here. In fact some of us are prospering," she said as she glanced at Xander and Cordelia, who were now busy gazing into each other's eyes. Giles looked over and rolled his eyes, turning to face the group, "Now listen all of you. I have spent the night research the history of Angel. Yes you have lived with Angel's threats for months. But it's because you are still alive, that is why you are now in greater danger." The gang all stopped what they were doing and looked at Giles, not so much because of what he said but because of his tone, the tone of a schoolteacher talking down to grade school students. It was not a tone they liked and it was not a tone they usually heard from Giles. "O.K., I give. Tell us all about it?" Buffy asked "We have all for the last few months been living with the danger of Angel targeting us in a way to get to Buffy. So far we have resisted all attempts. Angel will be getting very frustrated. His history shows he is use to getting his way. Now while this may cause some people to be careless and make mistakes, it has been shown in Angel's past that he gets more and more determined, more vicious, in short more dangerous." He moved over to seat and the head of the table and sat down. "Angel is particularly nasty. He does not kill people just for blood. Of course he does feed on unsuspecting people, but he is a hunter and I do not mean just a physical hunter. He likes to pick a victim, usually a girl, get to know her and then destroy her life, before destroying her. Sometimes he makes them into his consort, until he gets bored and he moves along." Giles put the book down on the desk and sat at the head of it. He took off his glasses and cleaned them, while continuing, "He goes after the friends and family of his victim. Picking them off one by one. Driving his victim crazy. Sometimes he befriends the victim and pretends to be helping her through her pain, until unleashing the final agony of telling her what he has done. Sometimes he makes sure he kills her friends and family in front of her, and sometimes he takes years. It's a game to him. He needs to enjoy it. I have a feeling he hasn't had much enjoyment since Jenny." Giles voice faded slightly as he said her name. "O.K. you have my attention, what can we do?" Buffy enquired. "Well I am sorry to say there's not much else we can do. We have made all of your places safe, we have started training you all in self defense, I think the usual, never be alone, always carry a weapon, don't go down dark alleys" Giles shrugged his shoulders as he realized it was not much of a solution. "Well O.K. fine. We all know the score, but he will win if we let it stuff with our lives as well. So I say let's be careful but enjoy ourselves. Bronze tomorrow night?" Buffy retorted "I give up," Giles said as he walked away. "Giles, wait," Buffy said as she got out of her chair and grabbed Giles arm, "look I know if we stay at home we will be safe, but Oz's band is playing tomorrow at the Bronze. I think it's best that we are all there together. Look if we all go to the Bronze, we will not only be together but we will also be in a crowded place. It's about as safe a place there is if we want to go out" "I suppose you are right." Giles relented. "Well guys, as interesting as this is we have about thirty seconds to get to class," Cordelia said. "Yes, you're right, off you go" Giles said. **************************************************************** hazman@powerup.com.au Visit Slayer's Down Under at http://www.powerup.com.au/~hazman/index3.htm The Offical Keeper of: "There is a beautiful, big full moon outside tonight. Xander screamed at Angel, trying to get to him. Buffy still held on to him, not wanting Xander to rush something when she knew it was going to take a lot of precision to get out of here. "If I was you I would drop those cross bows, otherwise you can all watch me slit her throat and lap up the blood," Angel demanded. =20 Buffy didn't want to, knowing that she lost the advantage, but looking around she decided that she should accept his orders for now. She had heard a saying once, "Where there's life, there's hope". She motioned to Giles to put his weapon down. Angel got off the bed and walked a few paces ahead. Drusilla immediately sat down next to Cordelia and started playing with her hair. Much the same way a predator plays with its food. "And get your witch away as well," Xander ordered. "Oh Geek boy thinks he can order us. Listen worm, I can kill her so easily, all I have to do is give Dru a look and you will be back to lonely nights with the playboy channel. Besides Cordelia has served her purpose. She has no reason to live anymore, so don't tempt me," Angel hissed at= Xander. Xander looked at Buffy. She knew what he was going to suggest, "No Xander don't," she yelled. "I'm sorry Buffy," Xander replied then turned around to face Angel, "take me instead, let her go." Cordelia tried all she could to shout but with the gag she couldn't. Drusilla bent down over her and whispered, "don't worry love, Xander won't die alone tonight. My Angel will see to that." Angel gave the impression he was thinking it over. It was of course exactly what he was expecting. "How noble," Angel replied. "Stuff you, now let her go," Xander yelled and at the same time he finally broke away from Buffy's grip. "You know, I think I will enjoy killing you myself, Cordelia and your friends won't make it out of here alive anyway, but if you want to give yourself to me so easily, fine," he motioned Drusilla to untie Cordelia, "get her up". Drusilla untied Cordelia's arms and legs. She was about to untie her gag, when Angel interjected, "Leave the gag on. I can't stand to listen to her prattling mouth." After she was released Cordelia tried to stand but found that she had no feeling in her legs. She crashed to the floor. Xander rushed over to help her up. Angel thought about grabbing him then but decided that now wasn't the time to improvise. His plan was going exactly as he had thought it would. He also wanted Cordelia to be very alert when he snapped Xander's neck. " After all if a boy is killed when no-one is around did it really happen," he laughed at his own thought. Xander picked up Cordelia and carried her back to their friends, handing her to Giles. He never took his eyes off her until he reached the group. Her eyes haunting his soul. He inwardly shuddered thinking about what she must have gone through. He slowly looked up at Giles, "Take care of her." Giles nodded slowly, his heart pounding with admiration for the actions Xander was taking. Xander once again looked down at Cordelia. Her eyes were filled with tears. He pulled the gag aside, to expose a portion of her lips. He bent down and lightly kissed her whispering, "I love you, I will love you always." Cordelia grabbed hold of him, she did not want to let go. He whispered in her ear, "We have a plan. Be ready, this is going to be rough". He backed away from her looking her straight in the eye. She looked back. Her mood had changed from heartache to incredulous. Her eyes were screaming at Xander, "You have got to be kidding." Xander looked over at Buffy, then Willow and then Oz. He hoped that the others would realize that he had changed the plan around. He had decided there was no choice, he had to get Cordelia away. He looked very carefully, straight at his friends, longer than any normal look would be for. Buffy looked back, a flicker of realization entering her stare. "Xander if this works out you and me are going to have a talk about following a plan, " she thought. Xander turned around and walked slowly towards Angel. He was hoping that the couple of months training would allow him to provide the diversion needed. He looked at Angel. His heart was turning to hate. He was fighting the urge to go over and try to rip out his throat. Angel motioned for Spike and Drusilla to take Xander and bring him over. Spike was less than impressed. He couldn't understand why they just didn't kill them all. He used to enjoy Angel's little games, but that was before this latest Slayer. She was too dangerous to mess around with. Spike had a contingency plan. He had decided to let Angel have his little game, but if things went wrong he would bring in the rest of them and save the day. That would not only show up Angel in the eyes of the other vampires but more importantly would show Drusilla that Angel was not the infallible person she thought he was. He looked over at her. She bounded across to take hold of the boy like an over eager dog, hoping to please its master. He took hold of Xander's left arm while Drusilla took hold of his right.=20 Once Xander was held, Angel came up to him, grabbing his hair reefing his neck back, "I am going to enjoy this almost as much as when I kill Buffy" "I will give you a final warning. Let go now" Xander screamed, not expecting any success except delaying Angel' attack. It worked. Angel looked down at Xander and laughed, "Xander you insignificant piece of filth, you are the appetizer, your friends the entr=E9e, and Buffy is the desert. You are all going to die. I just wanted to kill you first." The delay however had given Xander enough time to make eye contact with Buffy; signaling that he and she were ready. He knew that this was it. "NOW!" he shouted. =20 Buffy and Giles reached into their jackets and pulled out a couple of bottles that were filled with Holy Water. Buffy threw one straight at Angel, while Giles through his at Spike. Angel was about to grab Xander's neck and snap it when he heard Xander shout. He turned around to see what he was shouting at and got hit straight in the face with the bottle Buffy threw. The Holy Water started to burn; Angel recoiled in pain and screamed loudly. Almost simultaneously the other bottle smashed into the right side of Spike's face. The water covered Xander and Drusilla on her left side. As soon as the bottle hit, Xander was able to get away, taking advantage of his captors' agony. Drusilla and Spike had not been hit with as much water as Angel, but none the less they could feel their skin burning. Angel could just make out the moving image of Xander. The water had effected his eyesight. He yelled, "Get him, get them all!" The dozen vampires that had been stationed around the room had already started to move in. Buffy and Giles picked up the crossbows and started firing. Quickly five of them hit the ground and dissipated into dust. Willow and Oz had been protecting Cordelia, but knew they had to do something more now. Taking a hold of one of the remaining three bottles of Holy Water, Willow opened the top and sprayed it in a semi-circle at the oncoming vampires. Four of them went down screaming, then ran out of there. Xander by this time had reached them and grabbed a stake. He moved over to take hold of Cordelia. She put her arms around him,=20 "Stay behind me!" Xander said. A vampire attacked, Xander ducked and was able to land the stake into its heart. Xander sighed with relief. Buffy had explained that if the vampires were new they probably would not be that difficult to kill, however if there were old vampires around, they would be in trouble. Thankfully it seemed that that one was not that experienced. ........ Spike looked around at the scene in front of him. Half his face was burnt quite severely, if it wasn't for the bottle hitting only his right side he would be in more pain. "Damn Angel, "he thought. He grabbed Drusilla, "come on love let's get out of here." "What about Angel, " she asked. Spike looked down at her burned face, "Angel has dug his own grave and now I will have to get him out". Spike picked her up and carried her to one of the doorways. When he got there he set Drusilla down and turned to his= left. From out of the darkness a vampire came up to him. "You left Angel in there?" it asked. "I couldn't save him, "Spike sort of lied, he didn't try," see if you can." "What do you want us to do?" "Get them" was all Spike needed to say. ................. Buffy staked a vampire in front of her. She quickly looked around. There was only one left, and it was fighting with Giles. She moved over and landed a kick to the back of its head. As it fell to the ground she pounced on it and staked it threw the heart. She looked back at her friends. "C'mon, let's get out of here," she yelled. They turned to run out of the door when all of the sudden the room started filling with Vampires, from each doorway and from above, they were suddenly surrounded by fifty vampires and they were closing in. **************************************************************** hazman@powerup.com.au Visit Slayer's Down Under at http://www.powerup.com.au/~hazman/index3.htm The Offical Keeper of: "There is a beautiful, big full moon outside tonight. Not many librarians would be at school at 6.00am, but she knew he would be. She had found it difficult to get to sleep last night, she knew she was safe, but the knowledge that Angel could be outside anytime looking at her gave her the wig, in the worse way. It didn't totally surprise her that he did not return, that she noticed at least. He was there for one reason. He wanted to move his little game along. Like moving pieces on a chessboard. She knew her move was next. "Giles!" she shouted. "Buffy" Giles replied, walking out of his office with a book in his hand. "You are early", his face changed, "what's wrong?" "Oh nothing really, I just had a little visit from Angel last night. He just wanted to let me know the game had moved on," she said sitting down at the desk. Giles moved over to her, "He didn't get in did he. The spell still works?" "Yeah, no worries about that. Still creeps me out, knowing he could be watching me at any time. I used to like it when...." There was no need to say any more. "Yes," Giles said quietly, putting his arm around her. "Did he say anything of importance?" "He told me that one of my friends will die tonight," Buffy replied, patting Giles arm letting him know she appreciated his support. "He must be really frustrated. He's trying to rattle you into making a mistake. O.K., we have to make plans for tonight" Giles started saying. "We already have plans, we are going to the Bronze, remember?" Buffy looked at him, hoping he would agree. By the incredulous look on his face he did not. "You can't. Look I know I agreed yesterday, but after his little calling card last night, well it changes everything." Buffy got up out of her chair and moved over to face him. "It doesn't change anything Giles. The reasons I gave for going to the Bronze still stand." "But Buffy...." "But nothing. Look - Number One; Oz is playing there tonight. Without us there he's on his own. Number. Two and I know that this is not high on your list; we are all teenagers. We need to have some fun. Number Three; Where else do we go. If we run out of town, the Vampires take over. Number Four; If we stay in town, and we keep ourselves in our own houses every night, we will drive ourselves crazy. Going to the Bronze is the best of a bad situation. We will all be together, there will plenty of other people around to limit the chance of surprise and it might just convince us that we do have a normal life for a couple of hours. I was born into this Giles. My friends were not. They are in danger because of me. I have to do all I can to protect them, but we also have to live. Otherwise what's the point." Giles listened to Buffy's reasoning. He thought about for a while. He still wasn't happy but he thought there was at least one thing he could suggest. "O.K. But only if I come with you." ............................................................................. Xander looked up at the ceiling when he awoke. Not for any particular reason, that just happened to be the position his head was facing when he opened up his eyes. He could sense something was missing. He felt to his side....nothing. Then he looked Cordelia was gone. A myriad of thoughts occurred to him at this point. What have I done, what did I do wrong, was I that bad, did I snore. He got himself out of bed and slipped into his shirt and jeans that were dumped on the floor. He looked first in the bathroom, not so much because he thought she would be in there, but he really wanted to splash down his face and clean his teeth. He looked in the mirror. It was true what they say...you do look like you are beaming. He went down the hallway, calling her name. "Oh good you are awake, I'm out here," came the reply from the balcony. Xander moved over to the balcony doors and opened them. He saw Cordelia lying on one of the lounges in her dressing gown. She beamed that perfect smile at him. "Good Morning" Xander moved over to her and kissed her, "Good morning to you," he said between a non stop smile, "I was worried there for a bit. Thought I had done something." Cordelia looked at him finding it hard to suppress a giggle, "Oh Xander. You know me. I would have told you if you had, probably in a biting way, but I would have told you." She grabbed his hand holding it tight to her chest, "I am sorry I wasn't there when you woke up. I woke up an hour or so ago and you looked so nice sleeping, I couldn't bear to wake you up." Xander smiled "And believe me, you did nothing that would ever make me want to leave you." "Cordy, thank you," Xander softly said. "What for?" "I had always hoped that my first time would be with someone I truly loved. Too many of my friends did not get the chance" Cordelia reached over and hugged him. "Xander you don't have to tell me. I consider myself to be really lucky to have met you. My taste in boyfriends has been somewhat questionable. I feel even luckier that you could actually stand to be with me after the way I treated you. But not only did you put up with my crap...." "Cordy, you know I love your crap." Cordelia moved her hand and touched him on the face; "last night was very special for me to. I found out how it was to make love to someone I truly loved." **************************************************************** hazman@powerup.com.au Visit Slayer's Down Under at http://www.powerup.com.au/~hazman/index3.htm The Offical Keeper of: "There is a beautiful, big full moon outside tonight. Angel had removed the gag. Cordelia assumed it was only to hear her screams, and judging from the smile that grew on his face, it seemed to be true. Angel crouched over her, running a knife along her forearm from elbow to wrist. Cordelia's arms looked like a tiger had mauled her. She had parallel lines running along the front of the arms, the blood of which was congealing on the mattress beneath her. "Oh come-on Cordelia, show a bit of mettle, I haven't even got to you pretty face yet," Angel smirked as he ran the knife across her chest. "Why don't you just kill me you bastard," Cordelia shouted at him, spitting in his face at the same time. Angel roughly struck her across the cheek. "Now now, be nice. Your screams are music to my ears ... but I am not against putting the gag back on," Angel said. " You are alive for one reason, you don't matter enough to kill now. Once I have an audience, then it's different. Killing in front of loved ones always delivers a more powerful effect. It's sort of poetic in a way, " he reached slightly ran his fingers across Cordelia's lips, "although I am toying with the idea of letting you go, after your face has had a few touch ups, I think it would do wonders for your personality." He picked up the knife and brought it closer to her face. "No. I think that having Xander see his girlfriend a bloody mess than killed in front of his eyes should be more than enough stimulus for the desired effect." He brought the knife down and rested it next to her left ear, "How would you like a quick and easy face lift?" Cordelia screamed again and tried to push Angel away but could only thrash on the bed as her bounds were to tight. "Now, now Cordelia, don't move. I would hate to poke an eye out," he cautioned, "well actually I couldn't give a damn, but Drusilla has already got dibs on the eyes." Before Angel could start cutting another Vampire came up behind him, "Angel, they are coming, should we go and meet them?" " No let them come. Once inside I want guards posted on all exits," he shoved the vampire away, who crawled away like a dog that knew he had done something wrong and was hoping for forgiveness. "Ah sweet Cordelia, our time has come to an end. It was short but ever so sweet," Angel said. He then put the gag over Cordelia's mouth and retreated. Cordelia looked around. She could see no one. She knew they were there, but they were in hiding. Waiting for her friends to come. She knew she could not warn them. ......................... Buffy and the Gang were crouched behind some crates about fifty feet away from the entrance to the warehouse. "O.K. guys we have probably already been spotted. I expect them to come from all sides. Giles and I will go up front with the crossbows, but remember we only have ten arrows between us. Once they attack there will not be anytime to reload. I know the rest of you are not trained for this but this is Cordelia's only hope. If she is alive, they won't keep her that way for long," Buffy patted Xander on the shoulder for support. Buffy, Giles and the others went towards the entrance. While they were not running, they were walking at a fairly brisk pace. Giles and Buffy at front, Willow and Oz in the middle and Xander making up the rear. Buffy was very surprised that they had made it to the doorway without any sign of attack. She motioned for everyone to stop. She poked her head around the corner. She couldn't see anyone, she could feel them, but there was no one in sight. She moved the party forward. The pace had slowed, with so little light to guide them it would be difficult to see a surprise attack, even more so if running. "Giles, I don't like this," Buffy said. "Neither do I. They should have attacked," Giles replied as they reached the entrance of the main hall. "I think they have something planned for us in there and I don't think we will like it." When the reached the entrance, Buffy had motioned everyone to stop. She went by herself a couple of paces forward. She still couldn't see anyone. She moved further forward. "Buffy wait!" Giles said as loud as he dared. Buffy didn't respond. Giles looked at her and decided he had no choice. He motioned the rest of the group forward. They moved slowly towards the center of the hall. They reached the old wooden table and eight chairs that surrounded it. They still couldn't see anyone and apart from Buffy's feelings had no tangible evidence that any vampires were there. Suddenly there was movement. A footstep to the left. Shuffling of legs on the other side. Then suddenly a huge bang as the front entrance door was slammed shut. Vampires, maybe a dozen or more came out of the shadows as if appearing in mid air. The came slowly forward. Forming a circle around the group. A red light filled the hall and in front of them a large black curtain fell down. Willow let out a scream. Xander was about to run forward but Buffy held him back. She looked straight ahead. The hate in her heart growing steadily. In front of them was Angel, holding a knife to Cordelia's throat. On either side of them were Spike and Drusilla. Cordelia was heavily bleeding from her arms and face. Although the wounds on her face seemed to be from being struck, the wounds on her arms were definitely inflicted by a blade. She was gagged and tied down on a bed. Buffy knew that bed. Yet another reminder of a night which has turned out to be memorable in all the wrong ways. It was the bed that she and Angel made love on. In a way it was the bed Angel died on as well. Now it looked like it was going to be where Cordelia died as well. "Buffy, so nice of you to grace us with your presence. You have missed most of the fun but I assure you the climax will be a killer," Angel said, the last few words coming out in a horrific laugh. **************************************************************** hazman@powerup.com.au Visit Slayer's Down Under at http://www.powerup.com.au/~hazman/index3.htm The Offical Keeper of: "There is a beautiful, big full moon outside tonight.
