Subject: BUFFYFIC: DISCUSS: FORMATTING GUIDELINES I am sure that I as well as most of the list subscribers ignores the re-issuance of the list rules on its regular basis. But I wanted to point out that #7 is really important!!! 7. When posting stories to the list, please follow the following formatting guidelines - --No story parts longer than 250 lines - --No lines longer than 75 characters [this one especially!!!] - --Turn off your "smart quotes"-- many readers receive these as garbage or weird symbols It is very hard to read a story with irregular line breaks, so much so that often times I will not finish a story. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take a moment to check your format when sending stories to the list. Thank you! I'm getting off my soap box now! He was going to kill himself if the rest of his immortal life was going to require so much trouble. At first, all he had to do was worry about getting rid of Dawson's curse. He silently swore at Willow the Witch for using the Gypsy testaments to restore Dawson's soul. He had begun a death list ever since that incident and Willow was on the top of that very list and a close second was his latest enemy, Buffy, the Vampire Slayer! Cordelia blew on her long finger nails, trying to dry the black nail polish on them, and then yawned as she glanced over at a pacing Pacey and said, "Really, Pacey, you're giving me a headache. Can't you just stay in one place?" "How can you be so calm? This girl is amazing, she must be the one!" said Pacey exasperatingly as he eyed Cordelia with wide eyes. "Of course she's the one Pacey, what else could she be?" asked Cordelia with a sigh as she stood up from her relaxed position and walked over to Pacey. "Darling, rest your dear black heart, we can think about the Slayer girl later." With that, she gave Pacey a kiss, but before Pacey could return her affection, Grant Bodean walked in. "Pacey, Cordelia, oh, I mean Master and Mistress," said Grant walking in rapidly and so eagerly that Pacey and Cordelia wanted to gag. "Yes, Grant, what is it?" asked Pacey, giving Cordelia's pale hand a kiss, as he gave Grant an annoyed and bored look, "And it better be important!" "Well, it is, it is!" said Grant eagerly, "I think we've found a cure for the new vampire!" "You mean Dawson?" asked Pacey brushing Cordelia's hand aside quickly, much to her dislike. "Well, what happened?" "We were able to reverse the spell, Master," said Grant as a huge grin formed on his face. "At least, something's going right in the Hellmouth!" said Pacey with a loud sigh and continued, "Bring Dawson in." "Yes, Master," said Grant with a smile as he rushed to the back room of their hangout, an abandoned train station. "Pacey, darling, when are you going to get rid of that - ugh! - Grant?" asked Cordelia with a whining voice. "As soon as his services can be deemed unnecessary," said Pacey, rubbing his temples at the whining tone of his beloved. "Pacey, you wanted to see me?" asked Dawson walking in with a laugh, as blood dripped from his fangs. "I wanted to see you, yeah, but for Devil's sake, man, clean yourself up!" said Pacey throwing Dawson a handkerchief he wore in his lapel. Dawson wiped his chin clean and said, "Well, what do you want?" "I want you to go on a hunt with me, tonight," said Pacey with a slight smile, "I want to be sure that I can trust you." "Of course you can trust me, Pacey," said Dawson with a grin, sitting down beside him. "Hello, Dawson," said Cordelia with a sweet smile as she lay a kiss on his left cheek and Dawson kissed her ha _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. "Enough groping!" said Pacey, angrily pulling Cordelia's hand away from Dawson's lips, "Dawson, my man, glad to have you back." Dawson nodded and when he was out of lackey Grant's sight, he glanced at the bodies that he had been feeding on and felt sick and guilty. He didn't know how they could live this way, he didn't know why anyone would want to live this way, and it was just plain wrong and evil. Then he remembered they were wrong and they were evil, and he was one of them. He dreaded tonight, it meant killing and hurting innocent people and he didn't want to be apart of it. He didn't want to be the enemy, and he wished that they had just killed him right then and there, so that he wouldn't have suffered so much pain. He was going to escape before things took a decidedly bad turn. When nightfall approached, Dawson got ready to leave and hoped that no one would miss him until it was too late. He had only one place to go, his parents, who had been killed by Pacey and Cordelia, had left him the house in their will. He claimed it the night before, when he successfully freed himself from one of Grant's "Good-bye soul" inventions. He sneaked out of the abandoned warehouse that was the Vampire's Hangout, he ran on, and didn't look back for a second. As he approached his house, he saw a lone figure sleeping on the porch swing in front, and as he walked closer he realized who it was. He smiled softly, knelt down beside the sleeping figure, and touched her cheek gently, lifting a wisp of brown hair from her face. He felt her jump and he backed away, and hid behind a nearby wall. Joey's hand fell upon her cheek; the cold but tender touch still lingered on her skin. She shook off her initial apprehension and glanced around, realizing where she was. She hadn't meant to fall asleep, especially not at the old Leery house, but she had always felt safe there, even though he was gone. Not a minute went by in the day that Joey did not think of Dawson and not a minute went by after thinking of him that did she not recall her regret. Joey regretted not telling him how she felt and had always felt, and she hoped that he had known her heart when his soul died that night. Dawson winced as he saw her walk away, and the farther she walked away, the more pain his heartfelt. As he opened the door to his house, he looked back to see the figure walking farther and farther. He wanted so much to love her and so much to know she cared, or at least, had cared, but that was too much to ask. As the screen door squeaked to close behind him, he shook his head thinking that no one could love a vampire. Dawson, however, came to this conclusion without the knowledge of Buffy's past. A past that consisted of a forbidden love between vampire and slayer and a love that lingered on every time she saw the Angel that was not hers and had never been hers, an Angel that was Jen's. Buffy's mind consisted of Angel the next morning, as she leaned against a metal locker after Angel had dropped off her, Jen, Joey, and Xander at the high school. Although it was already after school, Buffy still had him on her mind. His manners, his expressions, his face, and even his laugh was exactly the same as the good Angel of her past, the Angel she had almost forgotten after she had lost him. "Earth to Buffy? Alternate Universe to Buffy?" said Xander jokingly, as he waved a hand in front of a space cadet Buffy and she snapped out of her thoughts. "Uh, yeah?" asked Buffy with wide eyes as she glanced at Xander who stood beside her. "Where did you go, to our old universe and back again?" asked Xander with a laugh, and Buffy smiled slightly thinking how true it was. "Something like that, yeah," said Buffy and she realized that she still had to put her books in her open locker. "So, how do you like, Capeside?" asked Xander as he and Buffy took route to the library, which looked exactly as it did in Sunnydale. "Capeside's proving to be decidedly lame," said Buffy with a sigh. "Aside from the fact that it's a Hellmouth and _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. "Well, Jen and Joey must know some place to go when we don't have to go on a hunt," said Buffy with a shrug, hoping that everyday was not going to be a slayer day. "If they're boring people, too, we can always ask Angel," suggested Xander, "Unless he's boring, too." "Uh, yeah, Angel," said Buffy with a trying smile, and something in her tone made Xander look at her for a moment. He hesitated in saying anything, but he had to know and so he asked her, "Y-you don't have a thing for this new Angel, do you?" "W-what? You're kidding, right? I mean, a thing? N-no way, of course not," rambled Buffy, and despite her denials, she couldn't even look at Xander and her eyes kept to the floor. They continued to walk towards the library, and the awkward silence continued to grow stronger between them. Xander knew that despite all of Buffy's efforts to mask her feelings, she was still in love - in love with a nonexistent Angel that she, now, saw in what was only a familiar form. He painfully began to realize that it was her blind love of Angel that she could never love him, a friend that would always be by her side, a friend that existed and loved her to no end. As Xander and Buffy had their tribulations, Jen and Angel were having theirs. Jen had asked Angel to pick her up after school and to take her to the beach where they could talk. Angel had a feeling that this "talk" was not going to be a happy one, but he did as she asked. Now, they were walking hand-in-hand along the beach, and both were silent not wanting the moment to ever end. "Um, so how's living arrangements with Xander and Giles?" asked Jen, awkwardly, trying to fill time with meaningless conversation. "Oh, it's alright," said Angel, but silently he wondered what he had been getting into when he had agreed to that, "What about Buffy at your house?" "Grandma's going a little crazy having such a long-term guest in the house, but I think she likes Buffy," said Jen with a sigh. Xander and Giles were staying at Angel's house for the time being, and living arrangements were just a little too crammed. Angel couldn't help but think about how he had suddenly became Xander's brother through a few strokes of a keyboard on Willow's part, but he brushed those worries out of his mind. As he looked at Jen, he wondered what it was that made her need to talk to him. "Speaking of my Grandma," said Jen with a somber expression, "Well, s-she says that I can't see you anymore, Angel. She thinks you're too old for me." "B-but Jen -" Angel began to argue, but Jen pressed her index finger to his lips before he could talk. "I love you, Angel, but right now, I can't see you," said Jen with a wistful smile, "I want to stop things before they get way out of hand, but we can still go out once in awhile, when it seems okay. When tensions between me and my grandmother calm down, maybe we can start seeing each other, but not now." "I understand, Jen, but I'm going to miss you," said Angel and he kissed her gently on the cheek, and said, "That isn't good-bye, that's just until we can see each other again." They lingered for a few moments and finally Angel let go of her hand and walked slowly away. A thousand thoughts, a million memories of the girl he had to walk away from, but he was determined that it wouldn't be for long. He loved Jen and nothing was going to change that, he just hoped that nothing was going to change her feelings for him. Everyone was having his or her loves and losses in romance, it seemed, and Giles was no exception when Buffy and Xander walked into the door. Just as soon as he was about to talk to them, someone came into the door. He recognized her instantly and would have recognized her even if she had been a mile away. Her black hair and her dark eyes, her tall form and her grace, all these aspects came rushing into his mind, and he heard his heart beating tenfold. "Excuse me, you must be the _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. Well, Niles and I were dating when he died and I wanted to have something of his." "Uh, what is this strange favor?" asked Giles nervously, and he was quite away at the widening eyes of Buffy and Xander despite their silent conflict. "Niles kept a journal at school and he keeps it in a locked drawer in his desk, I was wondering if you could give it to me?" she asked with a questioning smile. "Uh, y-yes, I-I think that would be alright, um, Ms.. Uh - " Giles said, making sure that her name was still the same as it had been before. "Ms. Calendar, but you can call me Jenny," said Ms. Calendar who extending her hand and shook hands with Giles. "Yes, Jenny, um, let me go get it," said Giles who quickly walked out of the room to his office. Ms. Calendar found a seat at the same table that Buffy and Xander were sitting at, and all was silent, until two students walked in. They were two very familiar students that made Buffy's and Xander's mouths drop, they were none other than Druscilla and Spike. "Hello, Dru, Spike," said Ms. Calendar greeting them as they walked in, and Buffy and Xander would have said something if they hadn't been so dumbfounded in their life. "What can I help you with?" Druscilla was still as pale and spooky looking as ever, but her hair was pulled into a high ponytail and she wore - a cheerleader's outfit. Spike, it seemed, had returned to his normal and possibly better strength because he was sporting a Capeside High football jersey. "We need books on the American Civil War," replied Druscilla, whose voice had lost its entire accent. "Books on the Civil War are -" answered Giles, but when he looked at who the request was from his mouth fell open and he gained enough composure to explain," Um, they're on the last shelf to the right." "Is that the journal?" asked Ms. Calendar glancing at the black-bound book that he had in his hand. "Yes, yes, it is," said Giles and he handed it to her. "Thank you, thank you very much. I'll see you around sometime," she replied before she left. "It's three-thirty, already?" asked Buffy standing up and grabbing her backpack. "Sorry, Giles, I promised Joey I'd help her out at the restaurant at four and it'll take me that long to get there." "Quite alright, we'll talk tomorrow morning," said Giles absently. "Then, that means I can go, too," said Xander and he and Buffy reached the library doors at the same time, both wanted to go the opposite directions. "See ya, Buffy," said Xander with quick raise of his hand and he walked away. Buffy walked swiftly out of the school, feeling a little guilty that she had just lied to Giles. She hadn't promised Joey that she was going to help her at four, but Buffy felt that she needed a little time alone. She knew that her comments were plaguing Xander very much. He had been distant and aloof, ever since she had lamely tried to deny that she didn't love Angel, the new Angel. Xander had lately become more than a pal, he was the only one her age that knew who she had been before and he was the only one to understand her, and she hoped that he hadn't been hurt by her false denials. She walked out and decided to take a stroll along the sands of the beautiful beaches of Capeside, one of the many things that Sunnydale had lacked. In the distance, on the pier, she saw Angel, in his familiar black jacket, and even from faraway he looked sad. Buffy decided she should see what was wrong and walked along the creaking boards of the pier towards Angel. "Hey," she said to him, trying unsuccessfully to sound cheerful. "Hi," said Angel with a sigh and a small smile as she sat down beside him. "What's up?" asked Buffy eyeing his depressed expression. "Oh, nothing much, except that Jen just broke up with me," said Angel in a nonchalant tone that made Buffy confused. "I thought that you and Jen were doing great," said Buffy as a salty wind blew her blonde hair into her face. _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. I mean, I wouldn't want to make anything harder for Jen, or anything like that, I love her, after all," said Angel seriously, and Buffy smiled despite his confession of love for Jen because she knew he meant it. Buffy had to admit, for awhile, she had been confused with the Angel of her past and the different Angel that sat beside her now. Her love for the past Angel never died, but it never began with the Angel by her. This Angel was different, his heart was destined for Jen and his friendship was destined for her, and nothing else. "It'll be alright, Angel, and before you know it, Jen will be yours again," said Buffy with a smile as he glanced at her and she gave him a friendly hug. "Hang in their tough guy, Jen will always be yours." "I hope you're right, Buffy," said Angel with a nod, and then he gave her a sly smile. "What about you and Xander, hmm?" Buffy paused and laughed softly and said, "What about me and Xander?" Angel ceased to ask anything at all, and they sat there, watching the sunset. Yet, Buffy couldn't help but think about Angel's question, what about her and Xander? In the distance, Xander looked on at Buffy and Angel. He saw how close-knit they were, he knew that Angel and Jen had broken up. It's just a matter of time now, thought Xander to himself. As the sun fell down and the beasts of the night began to stir, he walked away. *********** End of #2 _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. She glanced across the promenade and spotted what Willow called Oz's cool hair. The shade of orange-red could be seen for quite a distance, and Buffy smiled and thought silently that it was cute how Willow and he were always hold hands. She glanced over at Xander, who was sitting at the same table, and found that he was looking at the very same couple. Her scrutinizing eyes peered at Xander's expression, and she silent counted to herself, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1... "Doesn't that just make you sick?" responded Xander waving his hand at the couple in a disgusted gesture. "Come on, Xander, they've been together for weeks!" said Buffy with a sigh, "It's not like your opinion counts in their relationship, so get over it!" "How can I if they keep rubbing their relationship in my face. I mean, every time I see them together it's all this touchy-feely stuff!" insisted Xander and Buffy rolled her eyes and put her soda can down, making a soft sound as the aluminum hit the table. "Right, Xander," said Buffy with an air of sarcasm, "And how do you justify you and Cordy's touch-feely stuff? Which I might add, is about ten time worse than what Oz and Willow do." "Hey, I resent that comment, Buffy because Cordy and I - " Xander paused a moment to contemplate, and feeling that Buffy's eyes were still on him, he chuckled nervously and glanced at her, "Never mind." "Yeah...that's what I thought," said Buffy with a smile, despite the fact that her acceptance of Cordelia had yet to begin. Xander didn't reply to Buffy's comment as he continued to stare at Oz and Willow. Xander contemplated that Willow looked happy, but he didn't believe she was because she was with Oz. What was Xander's opinion of Oz? Oz was just an orange-headed villain out to hurt his best friend. Once he reached to the thought of Willow being his best friend, he paused, unsure if that was what Willow was, nowadays. They were friends, Xander knew that for sure, but if they were BEST friends, was a whole other matter in its entirety. Things had been distant between them for quite awhile, Xander realized. Even before Cordelia and Oz had even entered the picture as romantic counterparts, their relationship had been readily changed. Did Buffy have anything to do with it, thought Xander for a moment and then he sighed realizing that she had, but not profoundly. Whatever had cause them to separate happened, and everything, well, it just made it worst than it had been before. He wanted very much to understand Willow. He would give anything to understand her, and try to make things back to the way it had been Yet, he knew that that way was gone and to return to it was impossible. He couldn't believe how much Willow had changed to become a Willow that he couldn't even understand. Still, had he ever understood her to begin with? It still shocked him to think that Willow had been in love with him, and he didn't think he'd ever get use to the idea, and now with Oz, he wouldn't have to. Oz, thought Xander, what a crazy guy, what does she see in him? Truthfully, he didn't really know what he had against Oz. The weird part was that if Oz was just one of the gang and had no romantic connection to Willow at all, he knew he woul _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. But the point was he wasn't just one of the gang, he was Willow's...boyfriend. Sure, Oz being a werewolf didn't make Xander like him any more, but for some odd reason, it didn't make Xander like him, any less. It just gave him more to complain about, more that made some reasonable sense anyway. He supposed a lot of his resentment came form his thoughts that Oz made his friendship with Willow even more strained, even though deep down, he knew that that wasn't true. Oz was only a factor because he was making him a factor, and although Willow was chummy with Cordelia, now, Xander knew that Willow was making her a factor, too. It was as if they were divided sides trying not to be separated, but their efforts just made them even more so. He thought again about Willow's face and finally realized that she was happy...with Oz. It didn't matter whether he liked it or not, it wasn't his choice to make, as Buffy had told him once. He stepped away from his heart because Buffy was in love with Angel, but Oz and Willow were different, he wouldn't have to step away. All he had to do was be happy because Willow was, and maybe in doing that, he could finally start treating Willow for what she had always been, and what he had always taken for granted, a true friend. Then, maybe, just maybe, he could start understanding Willow. ************* End of #3 _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. "Well, it is, it is!" said Grant eagerly, "I think we've found a cure for the new vampire!" "You mean Dawson?" asked Pacey brushing Cordelia's hand aside quickly, much to her dislike. "Hello, Dawson," said Cordelia with a sweet smile as she lay a kiss on his left _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. "Aside from the _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. Her black hair and her dark eyes, her tall form and her grace, all these aspects came rushing into his mind, and he heard his heart beating tenfo _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. "Excuse me, you must be the new librarian, Giles," she said as she walked towards him with a smile, "Well, I know this is a strange favor, but I used to know the former librarian. "I thought that you and Jen were doing great," said Buffy as a salty wind bl _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. "We were and are, it's just that her grandmother doesn't approve of me, and I respect that. _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. Oz. And Buffy. And oh God, she was up to something. He saw her take a plastic bag from Willow and start to approach and his heart began to pound. He didn't have long to contemplate it however before he felt a savage tugging on his whiskers. Looking down he saw a little boy searching through the pocket of his rabbit overalls. Well at least he was a bunny with dignity. "Can I help you little boy?" Xander asked into the voice changer. Appparenty Mr.Chase didn't think his voice sounded very bunnyish. Talk about adding insult to injury. "Eggs," the kid growled, grabbing the front of the overalls. "Where are my damn eggs? Didn't get none last year. Mom said ya screwed me over. Want my damn eggs, Mr. Bunny." Xanders' eyes widened. Oh this was great. Insult. Injury. Buffy. Cordelia. Willow. Oz. Psycho kid. Go team go. "How about a nice carrot?" A voice asked from above the kid. Xander looked up and saw Buffy standing there with a bag full of carrots. His first instinct was to groan at the obvious pun. "Get real, lady...I want my damn eggs." "How about I give you five bucks and you go buy your own eggs," Buffy replied in a sweet tone that told Xander if the kid didn't take the money, she was gonna go Slayer on the tike. Xander sighed and decided that it was a good thing that it wasn't Buffy who'd lost the bet. On the other hand..Buffy in a bunny suit woulda been priceless no matter what the attitude. "I guess so. Let's see the fundage, lady." The kid replied through narrowed eyes. Buffy rolled her eyes and reached into her pocket and pulled out a five. The kid snatched it from her, examined it carefully while she watched in awe and then turned to Xander, "Your mistress got you off the hook this time, rabbit-boy but you'd better deliver next time or I'm telling the Mrs. about her." And then he stalked off. Xander turned to Buffy, "You see what I've been putting up with all day. Little kids who use my whiskers..my poor precious whiskers for tissue paper. Try to grab my tail and eat my ears...it's hell, Buffy...hell.." "Yeah..Xand..I think you're becoming way too attached to that costume. Maybe you should take off the head and let some air get to your brain." "Oh no, no, no. I know what you're up to...you and Cordelia both. Wherever she is. You're planning bad things for me. I think I'm safer in here." "Whatever you say, Xander." Buffy said with a grin. Then she reached into the plastic bag and pulled out a carrot, "Hungry?" He groaned and grabbed the carrot and jabbed it at his heart. "Buffy, the bunny-rabbit Slayer..ack..." "Oh my God, mommy! Mr. Rabbit is commiting suicide!" A little girl walking by yelled. Xander swiveled his head and let the carrot drop to the ground. He looked at Buffy for help but she was leaning against the wall of his "rabbit-house" laughing so hard that she was practically crying. "Oh God," she managed between giggles, "What I wouldn't give for a video camera." *** "Is that Alexander Harris? Betsy, is that Xander Harris?" a teenaged girl asked her friend as they approached the area where the Easter display Mr. Chase was sponsoring was set up. "Oh my God...it is...Paula...look..Xander Harris is the Easter bunny." Betsy cried out as she grabbed another friend. Xander felt his face flush deep red beneath the mask. How the hell did they know? And then as he watched the crowd of high-schoolers grow, his eyes settled on the culprits; Buffy and Cordelia leaning against the display wall of the music store watching with matching grins. Oh..they were so going to die. And then, almost as if they knew he was looking at them, they both lifted their hands and waved. And then Cordelia blew him a kiss. He scanned to the left and saw Willow and Oz watching with large grins on their faces and suddenly he realized what was going on. He'd been set up. From the beginning. Buffy and Cordelia had planned it all out and Willow had at least known about it. Ambushed. They'd played the ultimate prank on him from start to finish. Well so they thought, he vowed. It ain't over yet. And then Buffy winked at him and raised a carrot up to eye level so that he could see her wave it around. And then she lowered it and took a bite. That was the last thing he saw before the sea of high-schoolers descended upon him, demanding to get their pictures taken with Mr. Easter Bunny. Ooh...they were so going to die. *** "I think pink is a good color for you," Cordelia assured him as she helped him lift off the rabbit head. He groaned as the head stuck coming over his head. "Right," he muttered. "One of them peed on me. Another one clipped my whiskers.I'm whisker-less. Mr.Bunny has no whiskers and how am I supposed to know if I can fit through a door..if I get trapped it's gonna be all your guys' fault." "But you're so cute..so kissably cute. And it's not like he peed on you..he got your overalls. We can just strip those off and throw them in the washer." Cordelis reminded him as she leaned forward and kissed his nose. "Oh wonderful, now I'm a naked pink rabbit without whiskers," Xander replied. "Actually it's kinda sexy...in a barbaric strange kinda way. Okay, its not but you were such a good sport that I'll humor you and say you're sexy." "Oh I'm touched," Xander responded sarcastically. "Oh hey, let's make this evening complete, we can finish chewing off my bunny ears. Sure, they're not chocolate but those little kids sure liked them anyways." "Oh cheer up, it's over and you survived." "No thanks to you and Buffy. The whole school is gonna knoew about this. My reputation is shot. I'm gonna forever be known as Xander the Pink Bunny." "I know this is hard to believe but this is actually an improvement over your old reputation," Cordelia replied. "Good to know I always have your support. When did you and Buffy become chummy enough to plot against me? I kinda liked it when you weren't..it was less painful for me." She shrugged,"I don't know what your complaining about..you were a hit with the kids. Daddy wants you to work the next two weeks up until Easter." "Uh uh..hell no..no way..Tarakan bugs couldn't make me...no way...I don't even want to know what evil things you and Buffy could do to me in two weeks worth of time. As of tonight, I am this demented rabbit no more. I'm just fine with being plain Xander." Cordelia grinned,"I think I could convince you." And then she wrapped her arms around him and pushed him back against the inside wall of the rabbit- house. *** "Ugh..I got to still do a sweep of the cemetary," Buffy groaned as she munched on the remaining carrots. She'd bought about twelve and then handed out all but three to high-schoolers who had used them to torment poor Xander. At one point Buffy had almost felt bad enought to step in and save him but then she'd gotten a mental flash of the white shirt he'd ruined with that damn trick ink pen. That'd been enough for her to decide that his pain was justified. Willow had been harder to convince. At one point she'd had to physically restrain Willow from running to Xanders' aide. At another time she'd had to convince Oz to take Willow on a tour of the malls' computer shop. A few minutes in cyber-nerd land had cured Will of her desire to help Xander. "But we'll meet you at the Bronze afterwards, right?" Willow asked, taking a carrot from Buffy. "Yup. I am so the party girl tonight,"Buffy replied cheerfully. "And I'm not gonna wait out here forever for them. Ten minutes, no show, no stake. No bad. That's the way I see it anyways. And if Giles ask, then I can answer truthfully that I did run a sweep." "Argue semantics, that's good." "No, no, Will...I'm just giving Giles a slight misrepresentation of the acknowledged facts. Not semantics at all, just a different way of saying it." "That's semantics." "Well okay, if you have to be stubborn about it," Buffy pouted. Then she grinned, "Angel might come home tonight. I'm hoping." Willow smiled, "I hope so..that would be so neat..it'd be like couples night." She squealed and reached forward and grabbed her friends' hands. "Uh guys," Oz said from behind them."There's um, uh...bad men who haven't seen a dentist in awhile behind you. Could you, uh..do that cool dusting thing you do, Buffy?" Buffy spun and scowled at the three approaching vamps,"Oh you just had to be jerks about it. Oh well, might as well do my job..feel happy about myself and raise my average." "You're funny, Slayer." One of the vamps growled. "But did you hear the one about Arkanasas? Turns out they found a new use for sheep...wool." Buffy's eyebrow jumped upwards, "Oh great..a comedian. Figures. You, my friend, will be stand-up funny to kill. Oh hey..I made a joke. I da chick." And with that she spun around and kicked the comedian vampire in the chest. Oz looked over at Willow and pointed to the bushed. "There are more." "Oh shit!" she yelled. She gave him an apologetic and shy smile when she saw his stunned expression, "We need back-up. I'll go for Xander and Cordelia." "I get to fight." He nodded his head and grinned. "Right on." "Be careful." She warned as she leaned over and gave him a quick peck on mouth. He watched her go and then he jumped at one of the vampires. *** "Okay, this pink thing really has to go," Cordelia muttered between kisses as she worked desperately on the zipper of the costume. Xander growled and looked at her. "I've been trying for only the last ten minutes. The damn thing is jammed. Maybe if we turned on the light.." "No," she said quickly, "Kissing's okay..it's just weird feeling fur under my fingers." "It's your fault," he shot back as he kissed her again. "Uh huh," she whispered. Of course that was when the door flew open. Both Xander and Cordelia jumped upwards and stared. "Will?" Xander exlaimed. "What the?" "Buffy's in trouble...she needs our help." Willow said quickly. She gave Xander a once over and then said, "You don't have time to change. You're gonna have to fight as Mr.Easter Rabbit." "Oh great," Xander muttered, "Now I'm gonna have to take abuse from vampires. This is so not my day." And then he followed the two girls out of the rabbit- house muttering something about whiskers and nude pink bunnies. *** His hand collided with her face and she stumbled back a few steps before spinning around into a kick that knocked him to his back. She jumped atop him and reached for something to stake him with. What she came up with suprisingly orange. "You're gonna kill me with a carrot, Slayer? Now look who's the comedian!" the funny vamp laughed as he reached out and grabbed her hair and pulled it. "Hello! I just conditioned that today!" She cried angrily as she pulled back and smashed him in the nose. He howled in pain. "You brokt my nowse, now how da hewl am I gunna tewl jokes?" He complained, putting his hand over the bloody cartilage. She gave him a dry look and then reached back and grabbed a piece of wood off of the ground, "Don't worry,I'll pick up the slack. Sweet dreams, laughing boy." She thrust it into him. To her horror she heard a loud noise that resembled what Xander sounded like after eating too much Taco Bell. Wide-eyed, Buffy watched as the vampire dusted and a whoopee cushion fell to the ground. She shook her head and then jumped up to assist Oz who was actually handling himself quite well. Giles had surmised that Oz had gained a few of his werewolf like traits. Just the same, he was no Slayer. "I got him..oof!" Buffy cried as another one kicked her from behind. She fell forward stake extended and took out the vamp that Oz had been fighting. Oz nodded. "Cool." "Why thank you," she grinned, spinning to deal with the last remaining vamp. Of course he was the one that had to be the pain in the ass about becoming dust. "Would you just..oof...die...already?" she asked in exasperation as she dodged his Jackie Chan like kicks. He spoke in some foreign language, hurling a whole line of dialogue at her that just flew past her head. Hell, maybe he was Jackie Chan. "Buffy!" Xander cried as he, Cordelia and Willow came into the clearing. Buffy turned ever-so-slightly to see her new arrivals and instantly knew she shouldn't have. Kung-fu boy was just too good. She hit the dirt with a thump and groaned as he placed his foot on her chest, pointed and yelled a bunch of unintelligible things at her. Great, she thought, I'm gonna die without even knowing what the hell my killer is saying to me. He pushed his foot harder against her chest and she felt the air seeping from her lungs. Then she heard Xander scream "No!" and Kung-Fu boy glanced at him. And then he stopped dead in place. Staring at Xander in his bright pink bunny suit. Buffy would have laughed if she had the oxygen to.Instead she used Kung-Fu boys' dazed state to flip him and change positions. She climbed on his chest and placed the stake to his heart, "Didn't your mom ever tell you? It's not nice to stare. Even if he is a naked pink rabbit without a head." And then with a predatory grin, she dusted him. She stood up and coughed a couple times to get the air circulating again and then she reached over and gave Xander a hug. "You are so the man..er..rabbit. Whatever." "It's cool, Buff..just doing my job and making the world safe for poor saps like me who get ambushed by their best friends..." "Okay, we get it Put-Upon-Boy. You're abused." Cordelia muttered. "Can we please get out of these woods..leaves are sticking to me and that is so...ewww." "Yeah..wouldn't want to have to make you actually wash your clothes yourself," Buffy teased with a smile from ear to ear. Then she sighed, "Let's blow the Bronze tonight and tank it at my place. I got lotsa food..mom stocked up." Then she smirked at Xander. "And lotsa carrots for the cute little rabbit who saved my life." *** "It's not coming off,"Willow finally said, looking up at him and trying hard not to laugh. She wasn't doing so well. "Then rip it off. Come on..I gotta get outta this thing!" Xander cried out desperately. "I mean I got a zipper..you know...but come on...just rip it..who cares.." "Don't rip it!" Cordelia yelled, coming into the room with Buffy at her heels. Buffy was carrying a tray filled with two pints of ice-cream and soda cans. "Come on..it's a rabbit..it's not alive. It's not even real fur and frankly it's chaffing my butt." "You're not wearing clothes under there?" Buffy asked in amazement. And then she held up her hands, "You know what? Nevermind...I don't actually want to know the answer to that..it just kinda popped out." "Well I do. You..are...wearing clothes under there, right?" Cordelia asked. "Boxers. My jeans wouldn't fit. Now Buffy would you please use your almighty Slayer powers and rip this damn thing off of me." "Sounds kinda kinky." Buffy replied, lifting an eyebrow. "Do I even want to know why you're asking Buffy to rip a pink rabbit suit off of you?" a soft voice said from Buffy's window. They all turned at once and Buffy's eyes went wide. "Angel!" Buffy all but squealed as she propelled herself into his arms. He grinned as he wrapped his arms around her and accepted her fiery kisses. "Aw," Willow said excitedly, "Big smoochies." "Yeah, yeah," Xander growled. "Great. Hello, Buffy..me..bunny suit..you..Slayer...come on?" "Oh, she can't." Cordelia told him, staying away from making eye contact with him. "Uh, what? When you say she can't..you mean because she's super-glued to Angel at the moment, right?" "No, I mean that costume is worth over five hundred dollars. You can't rip it. You'll have to wait until morning when we can take it into the shop to have it removed." Cordelia replied. Xanders' eyes went wide, "Oh no...no no...I am not wearing this...this..rabbit all night long." He looked at Buffy. "Please..I'm begging you." She looked at Cordelia and her face contorted as she tried desperately not to laugh. Unable to stop, she turned back to Angel and pushed her face against his chest until the giggles subsided. "I can't help you, Xand. Sorry." "This is wrong." Angel laughed, "I feel for you, man." Then he shook his head and looked at Buffy. Softening his voice he murmured, "I just wanted to stop by and see you. This is your time with them. We'll talk later." "Are you sure? I mean.." "I'm sure." He leaned forward and kissed her and then he whispered into her ear, "I love you." He started to back away and then he leaned forward again and said, "Don't keep him in that outfit too long..he looks like an idiot." "I know," she replied wickedly. And then just like that he was gone. She sighed and turned back to the others. "Lets us..party?" "Please?" Xander protested again. This time he didn't miss the look that passed between all of the girls. Oz, of course, looked utterly lost and out of the loop. Will was wearing a sympathetic look...she'd be his champion. And then she shook her head and Cordelia and Buffy nodded. They were discreet, subtle movements but Xander already knew something was up. "Sorry, Xand." Buffy replied. "Wanna bowl of ice-cream? It's carrot flavored." "I'm gonna get you for this, Buffy. Gonna get all of you." Xander promised. then he looked down at himself. "Just as soon as I'm not...pink...anymore." Cordelia started laughing then and couldn't seem to stop. Buffy and Willow watched her in amusement knowing full well that the game was up. "Um, am I missing something?"Oz asked. That got Willow rolling and Buffy began to cackle. Cordelia crossed over to Xander and reached down to his leg. He jumped as she moved her hand to his inner thigh and found the zipper for his crotch. Eyes wide, he tried to say something but all that came out were sounds of disbelief. And then she pulled a hidden zipper up and the outfit split in two. "Nice boxers," she said with a smile. Buffy nodded, trying to be serious, "Very manly..those...rabbits." That was all it took for all three of the girls to lose it again. Xander and Oz exchanged confused looks and then sat on Buffy's bed at the same time. Oz offered Xander a bowl of ice-cream which he took and then they sat back to watch. All the while not having a clue about what was going on. And when they finally managed to calm for a few seconds to catch a breath, it was Cordelia who moved forward and whispered, "Happy April Fools' Day, Xander."
