Fanfic stories based on songs are some of my faves, and I'll probably send out some short ones while I'm working on "Lily". Hope you guys enjoy this. :) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Memories Of You(1/2) by Nastassia Say good-bye to not knowing when The truth in my whole life began Say good-bye to not knowing how to cry You taught me that Buffy stood alone in the graveyard, staring vacently at the place where she had spent most of her nights in the two years she had known him. It seemed to be the best place to say goodbye to him. This was where he had died, after all. This was where she had killed him. The gold Claddagh ring laying on the blackened ground still marked the spot. Buffy wondered absently why no one had stolen it. Part of her wanted to take it with her, to lock it up in some secret place where no one but her could touch it, but it seemed wrong to move the ring. Instead, she left it where it had fallen, a memorial to the only person she would ever love. Her beautiful Angel. And I'll remember the strength that you gave me Now that I'm standing on my own I'll remember the way that you saved me I'll remember A single tear slipped out of Buffy's eye as she recalled what had happened that fateful night. Giles had come to her saying he had found what could be a cure for Angel. A cure that would not only restore his soul, but would also make him human. She had hugged Giles and thanked him more times than she could recall. Buffy had been so cerain that she would have him back by the next morning. 'I was a fool,' she thought. The so-called "cure" had worked. The demon had been driven out of Angel's body. One look in his eyes had told her that. Angel's beautiful dark eyes showed only love, not the hate and malice she had grown used to seeing there. "Buffy." "Angel." They each spoke in a whisper, afraid that maybe this was a wonderful dream, and if they moved or spoke they would wake up. They gazed at each other for what could have been seconds or hours before Buffy ran into his arms. Angel kissed her with a gentle passion, and they held each other, afraid to let go. For a few moments all was right with the world. Inside I was a child That could not mend a broken wing Outside I looked for a way To teach my heart to sing Angel let out a strangeled gasp and fell to his knees. Giles, Willow, and Xander, who had been allowing the two lovers privacy for their reunion, rushed towards them. They found Buffy cradling Angel in her arms, as he coughed and gasped for air. "Buffy, Buffy, I love you. I always will-" "Angel, it'll be okay. Save your strength." "I'm dying. It won't be okay." Angel cried out in pain and shuddered in Buffy's arms. He looked at Giles through dimming eyes. "Thank you," he whispered. Angel turned back to Buffy. He took her hand and held it, their matching rings almost glowing in the moonlight. "Thank you," he repeated. His words faded to nothing as his eyes closed for the final time. "No," Buffy sobbed, denying his fate, even as his body turned to ash in her arms. "No. No, you can't do this to me." Buffy had stayed there, crying over Angel's body until nothing remained of him save the gold ring that fell from her hand onto the dust covered ground. They had won. The demon was dead. They had also failed, by not remembering that the demon was what kept Angel alive for two hundred and forty years. They had killed him, and his last words had been those of thanks. And I'll remember the love that you gave me Now that I'm standing on my own I'll remember the way that you changed me I'll remember - - ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 4 Apr 1998 15:18:33 EST From: GothGirl77 Subject: BUFFYFIC: Memories Of YOu (2/2) Title: Memories of You (2/2) <-----I think I forgot to put this last time Author: Nastassia Email Addy: GothGirl77@aol.com Rating: PG Spoiler: Everything, but mainly Suprise/Innocence Feedback: You know I want it! WARNING: If you don't like sad, melancholy stories then you might want to skip this one. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Memories Of You (2/2) by Nastassia ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So now Buffy stood where Angel had drawn his last breath and died in her arms. Five years had passed since that night, years filled with grief, tears, and memories. Images from the night they had first met echoed through her mind. "Who are you?" "Let's just say I'm a friend." "And what if I don't want a friend?" "I never said I was yours." The first time she confessed her true feelings to him was never far from her thoughts. "Do you love me?" "What?" "Do you?" "I love you, but I don't know if I trust you." "Maybe you shouldn't do either." Or the night the Three had attacked them, and the next night when they had first kissed. "I live nearby. I was just out walking." "So, you weren't following me? I just had this feeling you were." "Why would I do that?" "You tell me. You're the mystery guy that appears out of nowhere. I'm not saying that I'm not happy about it tonight, but...if you are hanging around I'd like to know why." "Maybe I like you." "Maybe...." Or the night they had shared their love for the first time.......... "I love you. I try not to, but I can't stop." "Me too, I can't either." The memories were all that had gotten Buffy through the last few years. Anytime she got close to breaking down, Buffy thought of Angel-his eyes, his smile, the feeling of his lips on hers. It was all she had left to remember him by, memories, his jacket, the cross he'd given her, and the ring. Buffy had left Sunnydale a month after Angel's death. She had left without a word to anyone, leaving behind notes for her friends and family. The notes had been more of a way of telling herself why she was leaving than explanations to her loved ones. Buffy disappeared into the night, and this was the first time she'd been back in half a decade. I learned to let go of the illusion that we can possess I learned to let go, I travel in stillness And I'll remember happiness I'll remember, I'll remember "I miss you, Angel," she whispered, kneeling down on the grass, "I don't really know why I left Sunnydale. I just couldn't stay. This was the place where the best and worst things in my life hapened. Every place reminded me of you, Angel. When I walked into the Broze, I expected to see you leaning against the wall waiting for me. Or in the library, discussing some wiggy prophecy with Giles. I'd see you outside my window at night. I couldn't even walk down the street without expecting Mr. Cryptic Guy to come up behind me and give me some weird message." Buffy bit her lip and lightly ran her fingers over the ring laying on the grass. "I just had to get away." "I know......" Buffy jumped to her feet. "Angel?" she asked, turning around. "Buffy......" "Please, please let me see you!" "I still love you......" Then there was silence in the night. Buffy was certain it had been Angel, showing her his love in the only way he was able to now. A few more tears escaped from Buffy's eyes. "Don't leave me, Angel," she begged. For the final time the familiar voice whispered, "I will always be with you......" No I've never been afraid to cry Now I finally have a reason why I'll remember, I'll remember "Thank you," she said, "For everything. You gave me the strength to live my life. I'll remember you forever, and I'll never ever stop loving you. You gave me something I thought I could never have because I was the Slayer. You gave me someone to trust and someone to love, even when I didn't deserve it. You made my life worth living, Angel." Without another word Buffy turned and walked away from the cemetary. She walked towards the library, because she knew they would be there. And I'll remember the love that you gave me Now that I'm standing on my own I'll remember the way that you changed me I'll remember *The End* Was it good for you?
