The Watcher (3/?) by Jaclyn Amy TITLE: The Watcher AUTHOR: Jaclyn Amy@aol.com RATING: PG/PG-13 SUMMARY: This takes place four years later while the Buffy gang is attending Montague University near Sunnydale. Angel’s soul has been permanently restored, and he is 100% human. Jenny Calendar is still alive. Buffy will be getting a new Watcher. DISTRIBUTION: Ask me first. DISCLAIMER: I own none of the characters from or the movie or show Buffy the Vampire Slayer. They were created by Joss Wheden and are owned by 20th Century Fox, Sandollar Television, Mutant Enemy, etc. No infringement intended. FEEDBACK: Please be nice; I’m still a newbie. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ - ----------------------------- As soon as Giles got to the house and listened to the message, he left. //Damnit! Why did it have to be Cordelia?! I would have rather her walked than be in a car with her. Calm down, Giles. Just drive.// And that he did. ***** "What’s wrong, Buff?" Angel asked as he walked onto the balcony. "You’ve been standing outside in the rain for the past half hour. Come inside." "Nothing." She came back inside, her wet clothing sticking to her. "It’s just that I feel like I’m going to lose Willow. We’re best friends, and the Slayer- Watcher realationship isn’t like that. If Willow becomes my Watcher, I have a feeling that’ll change out whole relationship, and that isn’t what I want." "Of course everything’ll be different. Big deal. So what. You’ll worry about that when it comes." "But Angel, what if-" He grabbed her and passionately kissed her. She loosened up in his grip and started to relax. "What were you going to say?" "Nothing. Nothing at all…" She pulled him down onto the bed and kissed him again. "I love you." She whispered into his ear. That’s when the phone started to ring. Brrrng. Brrrng."Let Xander get it." ***** "Hello?" Xander asked. "Xander? It’s Giles." "What’s up, G-man?" "I, I’m on my way to Sunnydale General Hospital. Meet me over there right away." "What’s wrong? Are you okay?" "Yes, yes. Jenny is having her baby. I’ve got to go." He hung up the phone. Xander ran upstairs to Willow and Cordelia’s room, but nobody was there. He burst into Buffy’s room and screamed, "Mrs. Calendar’s having the baby!" "Xander!" Buffy screamed as she pulled up the bed covers. "What the hell are you doing?" "He covered his eyes with his hand. "Oh, God, I’m so sorry. I’ll go tell Willow." He ran out of the room and slammed the door. ***** "Willow, you’ve been reading long enough," Oz said walking up behind the couch Willow was sitting on. "You should go to sleep. It’s almost midnight." "Oz, I am nowhere near ready to be Watcher. Ms. Calendar is going to have her baby anyday now. I need to prepare." "Please." He came up behind her and put his arms around her and kissed her. "Just take a little break." "I guess the world can wait five minutes." She kissed him back and he got on the couch too. "God, get a room!" Xander cried as he munched his apple. "Xander, do you really need to be in here right now?" Willow asked in an agitated voice. He started pouting. "Fine, then I won’t tell you that Ms. Calendar is in labor at Sunnydale General." Willow stood up and accidently knocked Oz off the couch. "No, no, no. This, this cannot be happening. I, I, I’m to young to be a Watcher. I’m not ready." "Will, calm down," Oz mumbled as he staggered back up. "I’ll drive you to the hospital. You’ll talk to Giles. Everything’ll be cool, okay?" He brushed her hair with his hand. "Yeah, yeah," Willow mumbled in a daze, "everything’ll be cool." ***** Due to torrential rain and heavy fog, it took them almost an hour to get to the hospital. In the waiting room, Buffy, Cordelia, and Angel sat. Oz and Xander sat beside them while Willow just paced up and down. "Jeez, Willow, now you’re making me nervous," Cordelia spoke. "Shut the hell up!" she snapped. "Oh, I’m sorry." With a smile on his face, Giles burst through the doors. "She had the baby. It’s, it’s a girl." "Congratulations, Giles!" Buffy said as she hugged him. "I know you’re going to make a great father." His eyes met hers. "Thank you…for everything. You were a terrific Slayer, Buffy, and I’ll miss you. But I’ve got a life to live." "You were a terrific Watcher. I’ll nevr forget you. Now, go, see your baby. Have a good life." "Thank you. All of you, come in and see her." In the hospital room, Mrs. Calendar was holding her newborn baby girl when they entered. There were "awws" and "she’s so cute" from everybody. Giles just proudly stood there, beaming. "So, what are you going to name her?" asked Oz. Mrs. Calendar said, "I haven’t really thought about it much-" "Buffy," inturupted Giles. "Buffy." Mrs. Calendar added, "No, Buffy Cordelia. Without her, I would have this baby in my bedroom." Buffy spoke, "Buffy Cordelia Giles-Calendar. I like it." Into the room entered a nurse. "Okay, visiting time is over. Everyone out." "Buffy, I need to talk to you," Giles whispered as he left the room. They went to a corner to talk. "Buffy, in all my years as Watcher, you have given me the most grief and the most joy. I’ll miss not being your Watcher, but I know you’ll do fine with Willow. She’ll make a great Watcher. What I guess I’m trying to say is that I’ll miss you." "I’ll miss you too." Tears started forming in your eyes. "It’ll be strange not seeing you every single day, or reluctently learning new battle techniques. I can’t believe you won’t be here tomarrow night." "Goodbye." "Bye." The hugged and parted. //Goodbye, Giles. Goodbye, forever.// End Part 3 - - ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 09 Apr 1998 18:03:46 From: Sarah Douglas Subject: BUFFYFIC: "The Cure" (4/14) DISCLAIMER: I don't own Buffy or any of the other wonderful characters in the Buffyverse. I am using them without the permission of the people who do own them who are not going to sue me because I am not making any money off this. Joss Whedon, WB, Mutant Enemy, Kusui and Sandollar own the Buffy characters. DISTRIBUTION: Just ask. RATING: Probably PG FEEDBACK: I would love to know what you all think of this. Please send me feedback. Pretty please. SUMMARY: Okay, well this takes place while Ms. Calendar is still alive, but Angel is evil, so probably Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered. It's another "Angel gets his soul back" story which I wrote to convince myself that Angel could be good again. It's kind of long and I'm sorry about that you all. AUTHOR'S MESSAGE: Okay, earning my thank you today is Aglx and Bern300. Thanks for the positive feedback you guys. And Bern300, try not to lose this part =) On with the show The Cure (5/14) Buffy was filling the water guns up with Holy water. "I don't quite understand the purpose of these, Buffy," Giles said. Buffy picked up one. "Well, all the slayerettes, even you Giles, carries one around, so if a vampire attacks you, just shoot some Holy water in their eyes," Buffy explained. "Just like pepper spray," Willow commented. "Yeah, but this is just a precautionary measure. I want everyone to stay somewhere where none of the vamps can get you," Buffy said. "Buffy, we're going to work out of Oz's basement, because Angel can come into the library whenever he wants," Willow told buffy, as she was putting some of the weapons into a box. Xander packing up books with Giles and Cordelia. Oz was helping Willow pack the weapons. "Okay, what else needs to be done?" Buffy asked. "Well, that's the last box. Buffy would you help carry these boxes out to Oz's van?" Giles asked, gesturing at a stack of five boxes. "Sure," Buffy replied, picking up the stack of boxes. "Oz, where are you parked?" **************** Jenny was sitting across from the elderwoman of her tribe. Jenny sipped her coffee. "So, Janna, you have returned to us." "Yes, grandmother. I need your help," Jenny returned simply. "It is about Angelus. . .and a girl. . .and others. Tell me about it. What do you need?" "It is about Angel. The girl is Buffy and she is the Slayer. She loves him, and with his soul, he loved her. He helped them, Buffy, her watcher and her friends. And me. He saved my life. Now, they think it's my fault he lost his soul. I need help to restore his soul. And I want to make it permanent," Jenny explained, crossing her fingers, hoping they would be able to help her. "I knew you would come. I have already begun the search. I will try to help you Janna, but I cannot cast the spell. It must be someone who was affected by the soul. And they must be trained in magic." "What does the training involve? Can I do it?" Jenny asked. "I was hoping you'd ask. Come with me Janna," the elderwoman got up and beckoned for Jenny to follow. Jenny followed silently. ***************** They all sat together in the back of Oz's van. Buffy was getting nervous. The sun was dipping down to the horizon. They probably only had another half an hour. "Here we are," Oz said, pulling into the driveway. They all jumped out and Buffy grabbed the boxes. Willow grabbed her bag and Xander carried Buffy's bag. Oz led them into the house and down to the basement. "Are you certain it's okay for us to be here?" Giles asked. "Yeah, like I said, no sweat," Oz replied. "I'd feel better if we all stayed here tonight. Is that okay with you Oz? I just don't want anyone going out between sunset tonight and sunrise tomorrow," Buffy said. "Sure, no problem. You guys can stay as long as you want. My mom's out of town visiting relatives and my dad works nights," Oz answered. "Let's unpack then." End part 5 What did you think?
