They were almost music to his ears, were it not for the fact that he kept thinking Drusilla was the one in that room crying. Twice he had almost gotten up to help her, to ease her pain. And twice he had remembered that his Dru was gone. It was the Slayers girl in that room. He wondered what the Slayer was up to? Oh yes, she was off hiding in a hospital building with her dying watcher, were he not dead yet, as Spike assumed. Eventually Buffy would notice her friend was missing though. She'd no doubt put two and two together and come looking for him. Spike wasn't worried though he had full confidence in his fighting abilities. The Slayer may be strong, but she was still mortal. ~~~~~ "Hello? Ms. Rosenburg?" Buffy asked meekly "Yes?" The voice came over the phone "Yeah, it's uh, Buffy I was just... Umm... Wondering if Willow was there?" "Willow? No, I thought she was with you!?" Willow's mother seemed suddenly frightened. "She is with you isn't she?" "Umm.." Buffy thought about her choices.. Tell Willow's mom that she thought Willow might have been kidnapped by vampires or.. "Oh! Yeah! Gee, I think I just saw her with Xander!" There was a large sigh in relief over the other end. "I'm really sorry I bothered you." Buffy said and hung up the phone Buffy turned to Giles and Xander shaking her head "She not there..." "You don't think that Spike would try to hurt her do you?" Cordelia asked "I mean sure you killed the only person he ever loved, while she was defenseless to stop you, and right in front of him, but --" "Okay Cordelia" Xander said bobbing his head "I think we get it" Cordy gave a small humph. "I don't know, but Willow _is_ missing! And I don't plan on just standing by waiting for her to turn up!" - -- ~ ` ~ LadySun ~ ` ~ http://home.earthlink.net/~kbleyle/SD/index.html 'We look before and After, and pine for what is not; our sincerest laughter with some pain is fraught; Our sweetest songs are those that tell the saddest thought...' The incessant sobbing hadn't been going on long, nor was she crying loudly. It was more out of sheer boredom he went into the room. When he entered, she didn't notice. Unsure of if he had purposely sneaked in on her, or if she just wasn't paying enough attention. He waited... Spike was taken back by the beauty she held, as she lay there wearing Drusilla's dress. Her hair was dirty, and hung in strands, but the rest of her... She was truly breath-taking. And when her tear-streaked face lifted to meet his, he was taken a back. The vision of Drusilla was suddenly faded, and all he saw was her. Not Willow as a mortal. But Willow as his mistress. But she looked fearful of him. Which immediately broke his reverie, he hated fear, it brought out weakness. "Let me go" She asked in a small voice, as though a child who knew she might not get her wish. Spike inhaled deeply and smiled, shaking his head. He moved to sit across from her. He watched her eyes for a minute as Willow tried to hide her fear of dying, then ran his hand across the side of her head, and through her hair. Willow held her breath as he touched her. And winced when he moved his hand over the bruise on the side of her head. She shuddered in fear and closed her eyes, as though the shear act of darkness would make the horror go away. Spike grabbed her hair and pulled back her head lightly, exposing her throat. Willow whimpered, paralyzed in fear for a second. She had to shake the thoughts out of her head, trying to pull away from him and jerk herself free. Spike's grip tightened, not as though it wasn't strong enough before, but now, his grip on her was *too* strong, he wasn't going to allow her to move at all. Willow felt her resolve slipping and she tried to push him off of her again. It was no use. She could feel his cold breath at her neck and her body trembled. Spike had missed the pleasure of seeing others squirm more than he had thought. A billion evil idea's were suddenly forming in his head. Willow's eyes opened, as she stared into the eyes of her murderer. And every evil thought, plot, idea, and image fell out of Spikes mind, her reddened eyes, and white dress, red hair, and pale cheeks... Spike lifted himself off the bed and stepped away from her She was taken aback. Spike Smiled. Willow Frowned. There was a pause, as Spike stared at her, She could be Dru he thought again. A sob escaped her lips, but by the time Spike had pulled his thoughts together to gaze into the mortals eyes, they were cold and unfeeling again. Furry was suddenly beginning to grow inside of Willow. A strange sort of madness at the knowledge that she was going to die. And with every touch and every stare and every moment of silence it grew. Spike laughed and was about to comment when - "You can kill me and torture me all you want. It won't stop Buffy from killing you." Spike's First thought was of how bold Willow was being, for one in her position. Followed by a more thought out plan of "Who said I was going to kill you?" - -- ~ ` ~ LadySun ~ ` ~ http://home.earthlink.net/~kbleyle/SD/index.html 'We look before and After, and pine for what is not; our sincerest laughter with some pain is fraught; Our sweetest songs are those that tell the saddest thought...' "What?" Willow gasped in shock. "you're worth far more alive than dead, love" Willow's heart began to sink for the billionth time in the past few days. She looked around the room, thinking about her life, her friends, computers, school all the things that had seemed so important before..... it all seemed pointless now and far away. Her mind followed her eyes to her reflection. Spike, now standing next to her did not appear in the long mirror across from them. It gave her a false sense of hope, that she was not trapped by some crazed monster. Her hand went to her mouth, as she stared at the beautiful stranger in the mirror. And suddenly she understood. ~~~~~~ Buffy was pacing again, the daylight was making her more and more frustrated. And, as much as she hated to admit it, She needed help. If she could only get to Willow she knew that she would be able to fight off who-ever had her, as long as she wasn't... No Buffy thought, Willow would be okay if she could just get to her in time. Only one problem. Buffy was almost positive. More than positive. 99.9 percent sure that the one who had captured Willow was Spike. Just the thought of him was enough to send shivers down her spine. She knew she could fight him. It wouldn't be easy. But Buffy had full confidence in her fighting abilities. But if he had...if he has Willow Buffy knew he won't stall when it comes to killing her... There was no-way she could find him during the daylight. She couldn't think of one other person who could help besides Angel.. Angel, who like every other vampire in Sunnydale, couldn't go out during the day. Buffy Plopped into the chair, and yawned. She glanced at the clocked 3:48 She'd been awake for nearly 32 hours! Buffy shook her head to try to keep awake. It wasn't much good. She thought for a moment. What time did Xander say he'd be back? 7:30 That was a little after the sun came down.. She thought for a moment and then decided the most rational thing to do was sleep. She would need her full strength and energy if she was going to go up against Spike! ~~~~~~ ~ Here comes the cold again ~ ~ I feel it closing in ~ Willow would pay for Buffy's crimes alright but in such the opposite way than it had first appeared. He was behind her again. His cold hands pulling at her waist to rise her up. Nearly paralyzed again with fear she obeyed his unsaid words and rose up off of the bed. His mouth was at her neck again, Whispering words that she didn't hear. That she couldn't listen to because the loud pounding of her heart made was making her deaf, His cold breath made her knee's to go weak, and she found herself collapsed under his support. 'I'm not her' she wanted to cry out! 'let me go I'm not Drusilla!' But out of fear she remained silent. Spike had to help her stand, as Willow watched herself in the mirror being picked up by an invisible man 'Oh yeah, this is fun'. Spike thought as he lifted the mortal up. Willow starred into the mirror as Spike held her up. A few moments passed until Willow was even able to speak. And when she was finally ready her words were almost unable to hear. "I'm not Drusilla" she stated. Spike smiled. No, she wasn't. He knew that, but a part of him wanted her to be. The sick demented part he guessed. What had even inspired him to dress her up in Dru's clothes? Did he want to feel close to his love again? Or did he just want to have some fun until he killed the girl? "Don't worry, love. I don't expect you to fill her shoes. But I really was hoping to get a bit more zest outta you." Willow looked like she actually went another shade lighter, as she tried to stand on her own, hating the feel of Spike hands on her. "C'mon pet, you just found out your gonna live. Doesn't that make you the least bit happy?" "No" She whispered her voice filled with despair. "No it doesn't make me 'happy'" "Why's that?" Spike asked patiently "Would you rather be six feet under the ground? Would being dead suit your fancy?" Willow's voice became a bit louder as anger flooded her sense. "No" She said again. "What then?" "What would make me happy" Willow said staring at her reflection in the mirror, unable to face Spike. "Is to be back home with my family, and friends, to have my life back" Inside Spike smiled. Her anger gave her strength, he'd have to remember that. "Have I taken your life?" Willow looked down afraid to answer that question. And Only when it became apparent that he was waiting for an answer did answers flood her mind. Half telling her to say what he wanted hear, half telling her to say what she wanted to say. She ended up with "Are you going to take my life?" Spike smiled. Three minutes of waiting in silence for her answer, and this is what she comes up with.. He sighed, hadn't he already answered this question? "No, love. We've already been through this." "Then your going to let me go?" Willow asked hopefully Only to see her hope crushed, as Spike's laughter filled the room "You've got to be kidding me." Spike rolled his eyes "And your supposed to be the smart one?" Tears were nearing Willow's eyes, though she wouldn't let them fall. "Then what?" - -- ~ ` ~ LadySun ~ ` ~ http://home.earthlink.net/~kbleyle/SD/index.html 'We look before and After, and pine for what is not; our sincerest laughter with some pain is fraught; Our sweetest songs are those that tell the saddest thought...' His teeth came to large points. Each one looking like it's own razor. Willow shook her head in disbelief pleading with her eyes for him to reconsider. She turned back to look in the mirror, and she knew that this was just a game to him. Life or death to her. But to Spike it was just for fun, just for fun because of how much he missed his Drusilla and how much he hated Buffy. "Then I'm dead" she said dully. "Undead love." Spike corrected "Either way, I'm gone. Willow is gone" "Don't act so melodramatic," Spike laughed "I could've just left you hanging in a cellar for the past days, and killed you, a little gratitude is in order." "Gratitude?" Willow asked breathlessly Spike rolled his eyes, and began walking nearer to her. Willow backed away, with each of his steps forwards, until she hit the bed. Spike stopped. "Don't act so afraid." "I don't want to be a vampire." She said. "That's nice." Spike said stepping closer again. Willow flung herself over the bed, and crawled to the opposite side as Spike. "Oh C'mon Willow, your being childish, It'll only sting for a minute." Willow shook her head at the cocky smile on his face, and looked around for a weapon of some sort, anything she could use against him. Spike slowly walked around the side of the bed towards her. "It's not like your gonna remember your life fondly anyways." Spike continued. "Your not going to think back and wish for old times" If he was trying to calm her, it wasn't working. Willow had no intention of becoming a crazed blood-sucker. She didn't want to be the one causing all her friends pain. Spike was getting closer and she still didn't have a weapon. Grabbing the first thing that came into her head she threw at him, and, of course - - that first thing just happened to be a pillow. Spike laughed, and was caught unaware at the next thing she threw at him. It landed directly on his chest. Of course it didn't hurt him at all, but left him disoriented as he grabbed the doll, and looked at it. He could still remembered the very first time he had met Dru. She was so beautiful, and he was immediately charmed by her. She'd been carrying the doll at the time, she had looked like a lost child. He soon came to realize that she always carried that doll around. Fondly named Miss Edith after her sister. When he had first met Drusilla she had never talked of her family, he'd learned of them from Angelus, who was constantly tormenting her about them. He'd killed her family off. Tortured every last one. He'd taken everything that was precious to Dru. Her life, her family, her purity and innocence... And even when she had nothing left for him to take, he found something, and he took her soul. Spike was jarred back into reality when he was hit with a tray. He looked back at Willow as she grabbed another pillow and threw it at him. Spike tossed the doll lightly on the bed and went to her. "Enough" He hissed. "Your not getting away from me Willow." Spike continued softer "You know that." He stepped closer to her until they were nearly an arms length away. Spike reached out his hand. Willow stared at it. There had to be someway out! Her mind screamed to her. Someway to survive, but she was so tired inside. How was she supposed to defeat a 150 year old monster? 'I'm so sorry Buffy' She said in her head 'I'm sorry I couldn't be strong like you... for you.' She cast her eyes downwards. "Your right, Spike." She said softly, her voice sounding much older. She reached her hand out slowly. Until her hand rested gently in Spikes. Spike pulled her to him. He could feel her determination fall and saw as her will to fight back died in her eyes. He spun her around, and held her hand around her stomach. Trapping her in, and holding her close to him. Using his other hand he pulled her hair away from her neck. Willow inhaled deeply, waiting for him to bite her. He kissed her neck, "When you awake Willow." Spike began "you'll be a new person." "When I awake" she said returned, titling her neck to the side, for him. "I'll be truly damned" ~ Stroke of luck or a gift from God? ~ ~ Hand of fate or devil's claws? ~ Spike grabbed her stomach much tighter, yanking him to her, and knocking the breathe out of her. Willow gasped in shock, suddenly afraid. Spike leaned over her, and she could feel his smirk. Willow couldn't breathe, it hardly mattered. She knew this was just for show but it didn't stop her nerves from shaking. Spike breathed on her neck for a minute, imitating the classic vampire horror scene, and sank his fangs into her throat. Willow's eyes opened wide in shock, pain coursed all threw her body. She should have known. The pain involved never even entered her mind, she should have understood that having a set of sharp teeth in your neck would hurt like hell.. Willow tried to kick away from Spike, and hit him, he had both her hands securely grasped, and she soon found herself writhing in pain, tears streaming down her face. She tried to scream, but as the scream reached her lips it was sucked away, with her blood. - -- ~ ` ~ LadySun ~ ` ~ http://home.earthlink.net/~kbleyle/SD/index.html 'We look before and After, and pine for what is not; our sincerest laughter with some pain is fraught; Our sweetest songs are those that tell the saddest thought...' Her blood was so sweet, it coursed through his veins singing, giving him strength. He felt her get weaker and weaker by the second. He was taking his time, he knew he shouldn't. It wasn't that he wanted her to suffer.. well.. actually that's exactly what it was about. He wanted her to suffer, he wanted the slayer to suffer. She was laying in his arms now, she had no strength to hold herself up. His grip on her was so tight... it didn't matter though. Spike licked his lips. ~ From below or saints above? ~ ~ You come to me now ~ It was like a dream. She felt Spike loosen his grip, and she thought for a second that she was going to fall. She felt so dizzy as he lifted her up, and it was like she was floating when he gently laid her on the bed. "Your bloods so sweet, Willow" Spike said, as he caressed her cheek, pushing away the stray hair. Willow couldn't think. She heard him talk, but his words were nothing but gibberish. His hands on her, felt like weights pounding in her skull, and she wanted to hit him away. But she had no energy to move. Spike smiled, looking down at her dying body. He knew she was conscious though her eyes were closed, and she couldn't move. He stepped back for a moment and stood above her, and bit his wrist with razor sharp fangs. He shuddered, always hating to do that, and gently laid his wrist over Willow's mouth. She could smell his blood, and feel it as it hit her lips. She had no strength though, no energy. And suddenly she felt hopeful. As though she might die, and not become a hideous creature. But her instincts suddenly took her over. Her will to live, and it's drive was strong. She managed to open her lips, as his energy poured into her mouth she felt herself lose control and her instincts threw her at the source of life. ~~~~~~ "Buffy?" She heard her name being called. Buffy groaned at first not wanting to get up from her slumber. "Buffy, it's Xander, C'mon wake up" Buffy was about to hit Xander for waking her when she remembered - Willow. She had to get to Willow. Willow was in danger. Her eyes flew wide awake. "Willow" She whispered as her mind started thinking of places she may be. Buffy jumped up, immediately glancing at the clock. Damn it, her mind hissed. It was nearly 8:30. "I have to go" Buffy said, she was in one of her commanding moods the others knew to well, but this time was different... "Stay here n the hospital room, with Giles" She said and began to walk out of the room "Wait! Wait one second." It was Xander.. and he was getting his coat. "Xander." Buffy began "I don't have time for this." "I'm coming with you" He said bluntly "What about Giles?" Buffy said trying to create a diversion. "He's safe. He's in a hospital room, no-ones gonna hurt him" Buffy gave him the 'oh, didn't you hear, we live in Sunnydale and no place is safe' look. "I'm either going with you or I'm going on my own." He said, looking painfully serious. There was silence as Buffy considered her options. Xander was Willow's best friend. She knew that he would go, with or without her permission... Her hair and clothes were soaked, but she couldn't care less. She had run home in the pouring rain, Angel filling her every thought. Her once lover had saved her from the deadliest creature on earth, and then had left without a trace. 'Does he still love me? Why would he save me? Is he even capable of love?' The sound of the doorbell interrupted her deep concentration. Buffy got up, put on a robe and made her way downstairs to answer the door. "Buffy, you're hurt and wet. What happened?" Xander asked as he pushed his way through the door. "Long story." "You're going to die of pneumonia if you don't get out of those clothes." "Maybe," Buffy said distracted. "Buffy, you're starting to freak me out here. What happened?" His voice was stronger and Buffy snapped out of her daze once again, to realize she had no idea what he just said. "Come on, lets get you cleaned up," he said sincerely as he peeled a few wet strands of hair away from her eyes. He led her upstairs and then called Willow to come over. _____________ "Buffy, are you sure you're okay?" Willow asked, looking at Buffy's wounded face in the mirror. "Yeah, I'm better now." Buffy tucked her hair behind her ears and opened the door. Xander was waiting patiently out in the hall. "Hey. Feeling better?" "Much." Buffy forced a smile. "Come on, lets go get something to eat." The three walked down to the kitchen, Willow and Xander keeping a close eye on Buffy. Xander grabbed some glasses from the cabinet and a package of cheesy chips while Buffy perused the refrigerator. Her mom had been out of town again, and there wasn't much food left. "Buffy..." Willow tried once more to get Buffy to tell them what had happened. "Huh?" Buffy kept her head stuck in the refrigerator as she searched for anything edible. Willow sighed, "What happened?" Buffy closed the door of the fridge and turned to face her friend's worried faces. "Angel. He...he saved me...from Savarah," her voice quivered, her body still cold. "Angel did that?" Xander couldn't believe his ears. "Angelus, Angel?" "Yeah. I don't know why, or how. I was seconds away from a long painful death and then...she's gone." "Do you know if she's gone for good?" "Well, if the prophecies are correct and the only way she can die is to be killed by a vampire-" Buffy paused, trying to understand all that had been going on. "Buffy..." "Yeah, I'm sure. She's gone." End Part One. Send your feedback.
