Summary: Giles dissapears and bad things start to happen. Disclaimer: They aren't mine. "Rupert?!" The Watcher's name was emitted as a startled gasp, and the man who had spoken fell back a step in surprise. "Simon," Giles nodded towards the unmoving man at the door. Seeing that Simon was not about to move from his stunned spot just inside the door, Giles sighed. "May I come in, Simon?" Simon blinked, as if trying to rid himself of an unwelcome sight. Seeing that Giles was indeed standing on his front door step and wasn't about to move, Simon pulled the door open. He gestured for Giles to enter, a pained expression on his broad face. "Of course, come in." The two men remained silent as Simon led Giles into the bright, airy kitchen at the back of the house. Simon glanced out the window nervously as Giles seated himself, and quickly drew the curtains shut. "Why are you here, Rupert?" Simon demanded as he turned to face the Watcher. Giles massaged his temples, trying to ease the pounding headache that threatened to erupt at any moment. "I need your help," he stated simply. Simon winced. "Rupert, you know I'd help you if I could, but it just isn't possible," his voice pleading for understanding. 'I hate to do this to him' Giles thought guiltily, 'but I have no other choice. I can't spend any more days as I did today. If my days are merely spent trying to avoid detection, I may as well have let them take me last night'. "You know that I wouldn't have come here if I didn't have good reason, Simon." The man shook his head determinedly, "I can't! I won't!" his frightened brown eyes rested on Giles. "I'm not a part of any of this any more, Rupert. I left home to avoid any more conflicts! I have a wife now, and a baby daughter. I'm not going to risk their lives by helping you!" 'He always knew that this would happen... if only we had listened.' "They are as good as dead if you don't help me, you know that." Giles didn't like using the man's family against him, but he was desperate for any help that Simon could offer. "Damn you, Rupert," Simon cursed softly as he dropped down into a chair across from him. His eyes closed tightly as he struggled for composure. When they opened again, his face was resigned. "You'll help?" "I'll help," Simon responded unhappily. "What do you need from me?" Giles quickly ran over the list in his mind. "I need some money since I can't risk withdrawing any myself. I also need some less conspicuous clothing, it is unfortunate that tweed isn't what I would call common here." Simon nodded as Giles fell silent. "There's something else, isn't there?" Giles nodded and Simon sighed. "I'd like you to get in touch with your contacts and see what help they can offer. Or if they can at least offer any further information." "I'll do what I can, but I can't promise anything. Once news of this gets out, not many people will be sticking around," Simon answered solemnly. He didn't want to do this, but now that Giles had drawn him into it, Simon silently vowed that he would do his best. Simon hesitated a moment before giving into the need to know why Giles was doing this, "Rupert, why? Why are you doing this? Of all the people to be going up against this power, I wouldn't have guessed that it would be you." Giles didn't hesitate in his answer. "Because I will not allow anyone to threaten my Slayer." Please send me feedback. Pretty please. SUMMARY: Okay, well this takes place while Ms. Calendar is still alive, but Angel is evil, so probably Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered. It's another "Angel gets his soul back" story which I wrote to convince myself that Angel could be good again. It's kind of long and I'm sorry about that you all. AUTHOR'S MESSAGE: We're getting very near the end now folks. Just a few more parts which I promise to send soon. Okay, enough with the chatter. On with the show The Cure (11/14) "Wake up Janna," the elderwoman said, shaking her out of bed. Jenny rubbed her eyes and got out of bed. Jenny rubbed her eyes and got out of bed. "Get dressed quickly Janna. We must hurry," the elderwoman informed her and left the room. Jenny pulled on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. She stuffed the things she had brought into her bag. She did a quick double check and headed out. "Oh hi Janna. Ready to go?" Alice asked. "As ready as I'll ever be," Janna replied. The elderwoman joined them. Jenny glanced at her watch. "Wow, it's only six a.m. I'll be in time to teach my classes. Why don't I drop you two off at my place, I'll teach my classes and I'll let Giles know about re-cursing Angel?" "That is probably good Janna. You must know something about this curse first. As a result of the first curse, Angel will, for a time, experience brief times of incredible pain. Our curse will only work if he is still experiencing those pains." "Well, I'll ask Giles about it. Let's just get going," Jenny said feeling a little impatient. The elderwoman consented and the three of them got in Jenny's car. Jenny felt relieved when she turned the key and started driving. <> *************** Buffy awoke to the sound of an alarm clock buzzing. "Arrrggghhh," Buffy moaned, propping herself up on her elbows. "Good morning Buffy," Willow said cheerfully. Buffy dragged herself out of her makeshift bed. "I'm going to take a shower," Buffy said. Willow headed down to the kitchen. She entered the kitchen and saw Oz sitting at the kitchen table. "Morning Willow," Oz said. Willow sat next to him and he kissed her on the nose. "What was that for?" Willow asked. "Just for being Willow," Oz replied, putting his arm around her. Thirty minutes later everyone was piled into Giles' car, driving to school. They pulled into Giles' parking spot and headed for the library. Buffy opened the door to the library and everyone followed her. Everyone dropped their stuff and sat in their usual spots. "Giles, what's up with Angel? The pain thing?" Buffy asked. "Well, I did research it last night. Unfortunately, it proved fruitless," Giles replied. "Giles, you've got to stop using so many words. You could have just said you didn't find anything?" Xander asked. "Yes, well, I suggest we continue researching before class," Giles suggested. Everyone picked up a book and started reading. *************** Jenny had a song in her heart as she pulled into her parking space. She grabbed her bag and headed straight for the library. She hesitated briefly at the library door. She took a deep breath and opened the door. Five people turned to face her. They all immediately looked back down at their books. "Umm. . . hi everyone. Hi Rupert," Jenny said. "Hello Jenny," Rupert returned. "I need to talk to you," Jenny said simply. "Umm. . .alright, would you excuse us everyone?" Giles asked. "That's not necessary. You all need to hear this. I have good news. You all know at this point that I'm Romani, well, I went to see the elderwoman of my tribe two days ago and well.. .We found Angel's cure," Jenny said, slightly nervous but finally blurting it all out. The bell rang. "You what! You found! . . .you WHAT!?!" buffy exclaimed. "I felt awful about Angel turning evil. I wanted to make it up to you," Jenny tried to explain. Buffy rushed forwards and threw her arms around Jenny. "I don't know what to say," Buffy said. "Thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart." "We really got to get to class now, but that's great Ms. Calender. Thank you," Willow said. Xander, Oz, Willow and Buffy left for class. Jenny and Giles were left alone. "Ummm. . .I've got a class to teach," Jenny said. "Yes, yes of course. But before you go, thank you." "Umm, there's some things I need to talk to you about. I'll stop by later," Jenny said. "Yes, fine. See you then. *************** Buffy spent the morning in a daze. <> Happy-type thoughts about being with Angel again. Then her mind drifted to other things. <> Her mind went from good thoughts about Angel to worries about the curse. <> *************** Willow was getting excited. She was so excited that she missed one of the questions the teacher asked. Buffy would have gotten worried, except she was off in a world of her own. <> she kept thinking. Willow, studious, ex-nerd Willow was counting down the minutes until lunch. *************** Buffy and Willow practically sprinted to the library when the bell rang for lunch. "Hi Giles, is Ms. Calendar here?" Buffy demanded. "Hello Buffy. No Ms. Calendar hasn't arrived yet, but she should be here shortly." "Or maybe now," Jenny said, entering. "Ms. Calendar, I want to ask you some things about this curse. Is it permanent? Is there some risk? What do we need to do it? Will another moment of happiness bring back Angelus?" buffy fired off question after question. "The elderwoman is really who you should ask these questions but I think the curse is permanent. First, though, Rupert do you know if Angel has been experiencing pain? The kind that would make him fall to the ground?" "How did you know?" Buffy asked. "Yesterday, we were fighting and that exact thing happened." "It did?" Jenny sighed, feeling relieved. "Jenny, you mentioned this elderwoman? She is the central figure of the tribe right? Is she here?" Giles asked. "Yeah, she's at my place, with Alice. Can I call them?" "Yes, yes, certainly." Jenny quickly punched in her number. "Hi Alice, it's Jenny. Can I talk to the elderwoman? Okay, great. . . Hi grandmother, how are the preparations going? . . .Oh dear. Do you need more help?" Buffy Willow and Oz volunteered to help. Giles volunteered his help as well. "Grandmother, I'll come pick you up, we have 4 volunteers to help, plus me. I'll be there in a few minutes. Bye." Jenny hung up the phone. "I'll be back soon. Rupert, you think of a good excuse to get them out of class. Bye," Jenny called over her shoulder. **************** Jenny led Alice and the elderwoman around to the back door of the library. Jenny knocked on the door and Buffy pounced on the door. "Hi, you must be the elderwoman. I'm Buffy, good to meet you. Let's get going," Buffy said. "Hello, I'm Giles. . .uh, Rupert Giles. Come in, come in. Oh, I thought we could say the library club is required for cataloguing books and we need your expert advice. I told their teachers and Xander and Cordelia have volunteered to help as well." "Great! Let's not waste any more time with chit chat, let's get going!" Buffy exclaimed. "She is right. We will start now," the elderwoman decreed. *************** Spike was sitting in his chair at the table, thinking. <> Spike thought. He tried to pretend that he didn't care, that Dru's never being around didn't bother him or that the fact that she was always with Angel didn't matter to him. <> Spike thought, smiling to himself at the irony. <> the realization hit Spike. <> Spike wondered. He ran the problem over and over in his mind. Suddenly, he figured it out. <> End part 11 Don't forget to send feedback to sdouglas@camfordinfo.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 26 Apr 1998 15:49:19 EDT From: KylenRevik Subject: BUFFYFIC: "Questioning" (poem) Disclaimer: Spike ain't mind. DEDICATION: To the fine people who invented Tang! "Hi, my name is Leslie" (1/1) By Leslie S. Hi, my name is Leslie and I am a Buffaholic. (HI LESLIE!) Worse than that…I am addicted to Buffy fan fiction. I ask myself everyday, how I managed to fall so low. But I just don’t know. Maybe if I share the story of my plunge into the Hellmouth, I can keep someone else from following my path to self-destruction. It all started when I was just innocently surfing that great big world wide web. I came across this site: http://Slayerfanfic.com/. Then I came across instructions on how to join a Buffy fan fiction mailing list: http://www.freenet.hamilton.on.ca/~ag775/BUFFYFIC.HTM so I joined! I figured what the heck, at least I could count on some e-mail. Nothing harmful! Right??? When I would get home from work, I’d check my e-mail, read a few story parts and be done with it. Then I decided that I really should check my mail when I got home *and* after dinner. You know, just in case something was added while I was eating. Of course I would only do this if there was like one part left to a story. Oh, I fooled myself with that one for a while. But I couldn’t fool my friends and co-workers. (OOPS Hold up. I gotta check my e-mail!!) It used to be Lois and Clark this, Lois and Clark that. Until it went away! I needed something to fill the void, the emptiness that was my life. So suddenly, everything became Buffy this, or Buffy that, or I read the best story last night, this morning, this afternoon. People were telling me I was obsessed, addicted. But I didn’t hear them. I wasn’t listening. I was too busy checking my e-mail! I have been known to check my e-mail upwards of 12 times a day. I have even begun to write my own Buffy fan fiction. (Send me an e-mail and I’ll drop you a copy!) But I knew I had hit rock bottom when I started (oh it pains me to admit this) role-playing. Yes folks, I play "Buffy" on the #bvs channel on Undernet: http://www.geocities.com/SouthBeach/Shores/4145/ (OH THE SHAME! My family must never know!) So yep! Here I am…29 years old addicted to a show probably aimed at demographic group 7 to 10 years younger than I actually am! (OOPS Hold up. I gotta check my e-mail!!) If any of you reading this feel you might be going down the same path, either compulsively checking your e-mail, or just generally obsessing about Buffy, I am always available to chat. You can find me several nights a week #bvs channel on Undernet. Unless I am checking my e-mail.
