DGO has technical problems, and cannot update their lists for Friday. I will monitor it and hopefully be able to post by Sunday night, or may just use four days results if it is not ready. Concur Tim. When I lived for four years on the Canadian border (Upper Peninsula Michigan), I owned one of the largest houses I have ever had, and heated it entirely with electric baseboard heaters. Sure, I had three fireplaces but they were more a secondary heat source and for atmosphere. Why electricity?? Because it was hydro generated from the locks at Sault Ste. Marie. Cheapest electricity I have ever had, and I have lived all over. And heating a big house in the winter there took a lot of heat. And as bad as we may think we have it with energy costs, the price we pay is very cheap compared to most advanced economies. When I was at BPA, they had plans for a Quebec to CA intertie through the Pac NW that were shot down by congress (what? selling Frenchie power to the Californians through the NW? Unacceptable!). It would have solved their problems for good (there is an incredible surplus of hydro power in NE Canada, with new generating facilities coming on line every year to export this surplus to the NE US). Betcha those plans are being dusted off today! - - ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 27 Jan 2001 14:41:51 -0800 (PST) From: Kent Norman Subject: RE: [CANSLIM] how long till CA kills the market? However, as a "Retail/Apparel-Shoe" company, I would be hesitant to buy until after Q4 earnings are reported (expected April 5 or so). With the state of the economy, retailers is not an encouraging sector. I also note that they must report 62 cents for Q4 (ending Feb) in order to meet analyst's forecasts for the full year. That would be their second best qtr, possible since Q3 was their best ever at 69 cents. But Dec already proved to be a tough month for most retailers, and Jan and Feb may be no better.
