I wasn't sure this was an OK topic for this list- since we are going to talk a little about it, here's why I think it's a good investment. Tom, I have 30 years experience as an analyst. I know that when everything everyone says about a company is bad, in the case of the HP Compaq merger, there's probably more to it than meets the eye. Ditto if everyone is bullish on a particular deal. I do not use HP in my Guided Portfolio because, as you say, it does not qualify as one of America's Finest Cos and I only use companies that qualify. Here's what I see in a nutshell: One, the merger doesn't go through in which case both companies rise sharply. Two, the merger goes through and is better than most people think. Three, they fire HP's CEO. If worse comes to worse, probably HP has already experienced most, if not all the damage. I will have an update in this week's issue of my weekly email newsletter.
