One reason why it may have been denied at ETrade is that they may = not have=20 any shares available to borrow against for your short. This is one of = those=20 times where having a different broker has its advantages. There should = be no=20 reason that your ET should require a sell limit order for shorting. You = should=20 be able to sell short at market.
