The index is at its lowest mark since 45.1 in January. A reading below 50 signifies a contration in activity, while a reading over that mark shows expansion. Economists had looked for a reading above 50 for September. The prices paid index fell to 57.6 in September from 63.6 in August. - - - -To subscribe/unsubscribe, email "majordomo@xmission.com" - -In the email body, write "subscribe canslim" or - -"unsubscribe canslim". Why? Overnight Fed. funds are nominally at 1.75% ( 1.80% in practice). One year T-bills are 1.70%, so unless one could offer collateral of five quarters for every $1 bill that one wanted to borrow at a bank, one would not qualify for a loan to buy equipment, goods or expand. Money is TIGHT! It is only available to those who do not need it. This posture has been in place since year 2000, as our Fed.Chairman fights "inflation" like Don Quixote. - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Patrick Wahl" To: Sent: Monday, September 30, 2002 10:10 AM Subject: [CANSLIM] pmi > This can't be a good thing, the report from cbs marketwatch on the Chicago > Purchasing Manger's Index, released at 10 am today - > > Chicago PMI at weakest mark since January By Rachel Koning > A measure of factory sector activity in the Chicago region fell to 48.1 in > September from 54.9 in August. First of all, trademarks are protected under a different set of rules than copyrights. I think your usage of "DGO" is perfectly legal. If you really want to be safe, adding an acknowledgement "DGO is a trademark of IBD" would do. Posting of copyrighted materials in a group like this, would normally be covered under the "fair use" clause. The following would be an example of "fair use:" I don't understand the comment about "again proving the point that you can't teach old dogs new tricks" in Friday's Big Picture. Why wouldn't old tricks work? Posting entire articles wholesale, OTOH, would clearly be infringing. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? I really can't imagine what DGO gains by hassling this relatively small group. In fact, It appears to me that this listserv only promotes the goals and objectives of DGO. For my part, my subscription to IBD has become more valuable with reading the posts of this group and it has certainly given me reason to subscribe to DGO as soon as we get some follow through days and some breakouts. In my opinion, their actions are extraordinarily petty and irritating. It really leaves a bad taste in my mouth in what is otherwise an excellent product. I just really did not want to read the IBD every morning, while thinking in the back of my mind, "What a bunch of p****ants". It is a series of macros that run on an excel spreadsheet. Each day, you can download the screen of the day from investors.com. What the macro does is run thru each of the files, and creates a master list that shows all of the stocks, and the number of times each one appeared on a screen of the day. All that having been said, I guess I really need to upload the spreadsheet to the ftp site so that everyone can have access to it. I apologize for my deliquency in that regard.
