The short term trendline has been broken to the downside and the index has once again broken down through the 200 DMA. It is now resting on the 50 DMA, and if it does not bounce strongly here, either have very tight stops to protect profits, or consider taking a vacation through the dreaded months of September and October. Tuesday and Wednesday were heavy volume days to the downside, while the bounce on Thursday was on reduced volume. This is not a good sign. Selloffs should be on lighter volume if the market is healthy. This is a tough market environment with volatility on the rise. The Nasdaq's advance/decline line is weak, while the NYSE's advance/decline line is still strong. If you want to play, the opportunities seem to be in the broader market and not the Nasdaq. If you like roller coaster rides, the Nasdaq is the place to be. The Coppock Indicator turned negative this week. Watch Ian's Cha Cha Cha surrogate and his Mattress Stuffer surrogate to determine if the Nasdaq melts down completely. Both Accumulation/Distribution Indicators are showing distribution, and the MACD, a trend following indicator, has given a sell signal. Have a good week. There will always be problems from time to time with all on-line brokers web sites being down. I have found Schwab's down times the worst of the three I have but I have also found when it comes to customer service the best company I have ever dealt with for any service is Schwab. I have recently started looking at US stocks. I live in London England and this is my first foray into the US. I am trying to create an "ultimate" stock screener and wonder whether anyone has already prepared one and does not mind sharing it. I would really appreciate it.
