From: Dale Subject: (cww) New info on non-functioning 3dFX card Date: 22 Dec 1997 21:18:16 -0700 Newsgroups: comp.sys.mac.games.flight-sim Crew: Here is the latest update on my 3dFX card debacle: Today, I spoke with Brian, the chief Tech Support weenie @ TechWorks, and he happily informed me that the manufacturers of the 3dFX chip-set have sent him models of code to write new drivers for the 3dFX card which will drive the aforementioned cards at higher (read: normal, 66.5hz or higher) Mac resolutions. They should be ready soon, and will be in some sort of testing phase shortly. This means that the 3dFX card will be supporting the Hornet 3.0 Korea game (amongst other things) before long (that's assuming that Graphic Simulations can accurately estimate a REALISTIC shipping date; now, they're saying it will be the 25th of December :@) ). When the system gets functional, I will report on its success. Hoo-ahh! -- Nick MERRY CHRISTMAS, BABY! This version has several new features and behind the scenes tweaks. Among the most visible additions are: mIRC color support Full Ircle color set support Cursor focusing (like in Homer) Recent channels popup Better support for userlist plugins (one will be entering alpha stage next week; see the comment about them below) ******************************************************* Callsign: Skyfighters/Hornet - Dale, Warbirds - cdb- ICQ# 3351618 Home Page: http://www.inficad.com/~cdb Visit the Cyber Wings of the World http://www.inficad.com/~cdb/CWW/CWW.html To join the CWW (Mac) or FSCombat (PC) listserver: http://www.inficad.com/~cdb/CWW/Media/listsub.html ******************************************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Dale Subject: (cww) #macflightsims Date: 25 Dec 1997 20:15:48 -0700 (MST) Due to an unfortunate set of circumstances, I have banned myself from #hornet with no prospect of reversing that in the near future. I will not get into personalities and for those of you that know the details, I discourage you from discussing the details in this list. I bring up the matter to point out that I can be found primarily on #macflightsims using a DalNet server. I have been told that some of you that haven't been flying Hornet would like to resume it. But that there is no way you're going to go back to #hornet. This puts a bit of a crimp in arranging matches. As I see it, the people that feel this way have three choices. You can use Kali and KaliChat and meet on the "flight" server and arrange matches (some PC people do this). You can also start a new #hornet. Or you can stop by #macflightsims. I am in this for the long haul. Any time I am on, #macflightsims will be there. And I am looking to set up a bot there for URL and social purposes. I sometimes wonder if interest is dying in Hornet because of #hornet. Or if it is the other way around. But to help Hornet along (and promote #macflightsims a bit:)), I have been told of an ARNS site that I have checked that is up and running. Perhaps we could christen the channel and kickstart some new interest by using this server for a tournament. I connected to it and the connect was FAST. It's come to our attention that rumors of our "closing our doors" have surfaced. This information was provided by an employee of a competing flight sim developer who was incorrect. Without even so much as a phone call to ParSoft Interactive for confirmation, this individual posted a damaging rumor as fact. The lack of responsiblity this individual has displayed is utterly astounding. We'll address this issue directly with their company, as well as the individual in question as soon as the holiday season has subsided. In the mean time... We'd like to state in a very clear and undeniable fashion that PARSOFT INTERACTIVE HAS NOT CLOSED. We're still very much in business, and we're planning to deliver SDOE in the 2nd Quarter of 1998. While we have undergone a shuffling of resources and a few schedule changes, the company is still completely functional and working hard on the development of "Fighter Squadron: The Screamin' Demons over Europe".
