But I just received Entreat today from Tower Records and was feeling a bit nostalgiac. I'm glad to see that one list is still up in running, although I'm sad to hear that Babble is gone. I subscribed to it many years ago (maybe around 93?), but to be honest it got to be more volume than I could handle the last couple of years. So, here I am, 30 years old, and I still get the same feeling when I pop in a Cure CD in the late hours. It's great to be a Cure fan and know there are others that know exactly what I'm talking about. Anyway, I just happened to come back across this list and thought I would subscribe, and probably lurk most of the time. The Yahoo! archives are great, by the way. I did notice a lot of sites have went down or have not been updated in the last couple of years. Is Stiff as Toys still up? I can't seem to access it right now. Also, does anyone have any high-quality mp3's (192K) of the unplugged show (maybe from unplugged & more) they want to trade online? I'm trying to finally put together a decent sounding unplugged CD-R. So, to combat this problem I've decided that no HTML messages will be forwarded to the list at all. They are as follows: -Reply to messages using the format in which they were sent Uncheck this option -Mail Sending Format Set this one to Plain Text I'm not sure if everyone here looks at the size of their emails, but when you are using html mail, the size grows exponentially. Its even worse when on a popular thread when everyone replies to the same email and just adds to the top or bottom of the mail without cleaning up all the text from the thread previously. I try to make a habit of deleting all but the last few posts from the thread before sending my reply. I'm on another mailing list that used to get threads where the email size would commonly get up to 200KB+ per email without any attachments at all. Usually there would only be a lot of "me too" lines thrown in. 200KB is no big deal for me to receive, but when you consider that an email server somewhere has to send that multiple times for every little email that gets sent to the list, it adds up. In the case of this list there is the digest to consider. I can't imagine what kind of hell it would be to try to make out a digest from this list when The Cure have a new album and tour going on. It must be dreadful. Ryan ----- Original Message ----- Sent: Thursday, July 12, 2001 2:57 PM I would like to remind everyone that HTML is no longer allowed on the list. The fax was similar to this email and caught my eye.
I did exactly what it told me to do (a fax blast) and
in my second day I made $6,000. No hard selling, no
hustling my friends, just friendly people looking at
a great opportunity and wanting in. Even if it took
me a month to make an extra $5,000 I would have been
happy, but $6,000 in my second day, wow! I'm excited.

Date: 31 Jul 2001 09:55:58 -0600 Nice to get new songs. Slightly annoyed that they are doing an unnecessary rehash of old songs that I already have. Happy that this will hopefully lead to a comprehensive b-sides release. Understanding that this gets them much closer to ending their current record company obligation. I wonder if this was forced on them by the record company in order to get more sales before the end of the contract. A compromise of sorts. Ryan ----- Original Message ----- Sent: Monday, July 30, 2001 10:14 PM So, how does everyone feel about the upcoming Cure album? Happy that we'll get to hear a few new songs? Angry that they're not spending their time making a full album of new material instead? We need some mail on this list, it's killing me! Date: 31 Jul 2001 12:25:01 EDT I'm thrilled that Robert is happy enough with himself and the band that they are working again. Note the word work.. I would think it would take a lot of motivation to want to record something new to satisfy all of us fans. We can be quite demanding!
