However, he also said in the Xfm interview that THE CURE would be heading into the studio in the New Year to start work on the next album; contrary to reports that the solo/collaborative project is next. I have been very willing to give him a chance, I even posted a positive review about him a few years ago because he seemed slightly into the music during a show in San Jose. I thought that it was because he was feeling more comfortable. But now, I'm still waiting for him to be slightly more than slightly into the music. He is so boring in the Cut Here video. To be honest, at first I was shocked when I heard he'd left the band, but after some time (of listening to a lot of his material with The Cure) I did think it was an okay move, that because he was such a fantastic (and up to a certain extent even dominant) drummer, maybe a new one could make a difference to the band, make it sound different and maybe even more exciting... Needless to say, I feel Jason was the worst possible choice. (I also find it interesting that one of the other members of the band was strongly opposed to Jason joining! And I really can't see why Robert is so happy about the current line-up.) patRice - - To unsubscribe to descent, send an email to "majordomo@xmission.com" with "unsubscribe descent" in the body of the message. I don't know whether he is into the music... He changed some of Boris' patterns in such an amateurish way, adding nothing to the feel; if anything: destroying it... (Fascination Street, e.g., where during the breakdown he added some very cheap, very bad rock-style kick drum pattern...). I was furious after the last time I saw them live and vowed never to attend a gig again. Did you also notice that an awful lot of the drum stuff on the last tour came from sequencers and was not played live!?!? patRice c wrote: > > patRice > > (who still wishes to see Jason take up the drummer's position in a band > that I > > don't care about...) > > I'm beginning to agree with you. In all the earlier cure singles (pre Wish) the B-sides were absolutely fantastic. Since Wish all the B-sides have had remixes on them which in my opinion don't do the Cure any justice. I know some people are into the techno crap and probobly like the remixs but what are peoples general opinions on these. The Gone! mixes in particular. It just seems that bands can't be bothered anymore and are happy to hand their work to someone else to tamper with. I thought all the wish B-sides (remixes excluded) were excellent. And also the bonus of being able to buy a cassette with bonus b-sides on. How many people would buy an album because it had several remixes of the same song on it? - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Thursday, November 15, 2001 12:41 PM Subject: (descent) B-Sides > What are peoples impressions of the current B-sides (the mixes part that > is). > In all the earlier cure singles (pre Wish) the B-sides were absolutely > fantastic. > Since Wish all the B-sides have had remixes on them which in my opinion > don't do the Cure any justice. > > I know some people are into the techno crap and probobly like the remixs but > what are peoples general opinions on these. > > Cheers > ~~IrishCure~ - - To unsubscribe to descent, send an email to "majordomo@xmission.com" with "unsubscribe descent" in the body of the message.
