I have on occasion put street tires on for a long asphlalt trip, but not often. You can't lay into turns with knobbies like you can with street tires. One way to look at it is: knobbies have more grip on asphalt than on gravel. So if you enjoy gravel, then asphalt is no suprise. Wet asphalt (with knobbies) is a different story.... Hi Bill=20 its the first that I have heard of this happening to a DR350.  I = would do=20 some serious checking on the canister,  hoses vents etc before I = went for=20 the 300.00 CDI I will check and see if I can do better on the price in = case you=20 really need one. What preceded the battery change long winter = storage?=20 maybe we can figure this out getback to me .

If you do need to replace it, its under the seat and easy to get too. I would check with the dealer, before you mess with it, since your bike is a 99'.
