Following is a copy of my reply to him. You may not have thrown it out, it might never have been included with your filter. K&N supplies a piece to do exactly what the stock piece does along with the gasket to be mounted in your airbox. When mine came in, neither the gasket or the attachment piece (it's a little black thing with a slot in it for the stock screw) were in the box. We had to call K&N to confirm the pieces were missing and they air freighted them out. The box with my filter in it was assembled in 2000 so it may be a problem on the assembly line. I had no problems with the K&N filter itself. It flows a lot more air than the stock foam element. Hey list, I was just riding my totally stock 350 yesterday when it seemed that all of a sudden the bike just seemed to start bogging really bad!! At first I thought that i was out of fuel so I checked and still had over half a tank. When you are going slow in first gear and crack the throttle, the bike would sort of hickup or hesitate and then slowly raise in rpm. To me it sounds like I have a problem with the fuel system but I am pretty bike illiterate and am just not sure what is wrong... When the bike is at a stand still it idles great and seems normal when you crack the throttle but when you put it in gear it just doesn't have anywhere near the same power. If anyone has any idea of what may be going on please feel free.. The bike is a '92 and has 4000miles and it still seems like it has good compression. Drained the old gas and put in fresh... Starts fine and idles perfectly... BUT when I try and apply throttle, it dies under load. It's only a year old... what gives? Maybe it too has a vent hose. I can't see the air cleaner needing any work/cleaning as I got it at the very end of the season last year and it only has about an hour on it tops. Sorry I can't offer any help on the DR... =^( Cheers, Arne - - to unsubscribe to dr, send an email to "majordomo@xmission.com" with "unsubscribe dr" in the body of the message. Regarding that vent hose, there is modification commonly referred to as "the T-Vent mod" Put a small "tee" in the line an add a section of hose that points down, so if any fuel collects in the line, it drains.
