OK, I've got the T-vent in place, and I went riding at a local spot that was trails and not MX. I still have hesitation problems after hitting jumps. It's mostly when I do some jumps, and then turn right (so I'm leaning to the right). I don't think the T-vent has helped at all. Also, does everyone else have the weird octopus looking thing under the gas tank? It looks like some sort of massive filter that has three hose connections going into it. I traced the hoses and the go as follows: The hose closes to the carb (the one in the rear) follows the frame back and just ends near the airbox. One of the hoses in the front goes into what looks to be a PCV type valve and then that goes into the gas tank on the opposite side of where the petcock is located. The other hose in the front is the one that goes into the vent side of the carb (where you make the T-vent). Just for fun I removed the entire assembly, routed the T-vent connection to the gas tank and removed the entire octopus (man, what a lot of tubing). This eliminated the PCV and the filter and about 2 feet of hose. The bike ran fine. Does anyone see a problem leaving it off? For that matter, does anyone know what the heck it it? I chickened out and put it all back together, but if others have removed it, I may just take it all off again. It doesn't seem to save a lot of weight, I think the whole thing weighs less than a pound. But it does remove a lot of confusing hose which makes doing the valve clearance adjustment a lot easier. - -- Scott Aldrich '98 Suzuki DR350SE / '85 Honda CR125R / '74 Yamaha DT125A Visit dr350 archives at http://www.listquest.com/lq/search.html?ln=dr350 Subscribe to Dual Sport News...write to Editor@dualsport.org for info. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 19 Jun 1999 21:19:41 -0600 From: "Tom Warr" Subject: Re: (dr350) About Metzeler I had an Enduro-4 on my DRS. It lasted about 4-5000 miles. I really liked it - great for carving the curves on pavement. It is a good gravel and dry dirt tire, but if there is sticky mud, or wet grass, you will want for more traction. I have E-3's on my Adventure and I think for a distance-pavement oriented dual sport tire, you can't beat it. The cough problem has been around for awhile & is erratic. My 90 model had it, then it went away. My friends had it on some but not others, may be float level related. Just a thought Scott...but how long did you make the hose from carb to the T? My thinking is that the shorter it is to the T, the better. Also, if the short piece of hose from the T to carb is angled up any at all, I think you'll loose any potential benefit. the carb-to-T hose should be very short, & parrallel to ground, or even angled down a little. I can ride at the MX track for hours, doing jumps & whoops the whole time, & have never had the hesitation problem since I did the T mod (previously it would load up & stall out after 5 min of such riding).
