I had the IRC GP-110 rear before the Pirelli, and liked it (a better road tire), but didnt realize how much I was loosing traction in the dirt till I put the Pirelli on. Now, 1500 miles later, the Pirelli's center knobs seem to be about half the height as they were when new. I've probably put about 500 dirt miles & 1000 hiway miles on it. Yall think this is decent mileage? I dont have strong feelings about it one way or another. When is a knobby considered worn out? Obviously you wouldn't want to let the center knobs get down to the same level as the rest of the solid part of the tire. I think I'm starting to tell that it doesn't grab as well as it did when new. I've got 2300 miles on the front IRC, and it looks REALLY good. Center knobs still 1/3" heigh....cant remember/didn't measure them when new. But they look like they could go another 500 miles minimum. I think this combination may be ideal for my riding (about 70/30 street/dirt), since you get good traction in dirt w/ the Pirelli, and the IRC's construction makes it great in the twisties on the hiway...no vibration, nice close-spaced knobs around edges to really let you lean on it like a sport-bike. Since I want to buy some new tires before my AR trip, what I'd like some feedback on is....what are some of the other tires you guys are using that ride a fair mix of street/dirt? I'm pretty sure I want to stick to the MT-21 on the rear, unless anyone knows of another DOT legal knobby that works better & lasts longer. Its the front that I'm really open to suggestions on. Anyone using the Pirelli MT-21 front tire? -can that tire be pushed in the curves on the street? -does it vibrate much on the hiway? - -are more aggressive knobs on the front tire as noticable as they are on the rear in dirt? Like I said, I am happy w/ the IRC front (and boy are they cheap), just wanted to consult the wisdom of the list:) Bryan in Dallas 95 DR350SE ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com Support Dual Sport News with your subscription http://www.geocities.com/~klrdsn/page2.html Visit the dr350 archives at http://www.listquest.com/lq/search.html?ln=dr350 Unsubscribe by sending a message to majordomo@lists.xmission.com Leave subject blank, message is unsubscribe dr350 (or dr350-digest). ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 19 Sep 1999 15:39:31 PDT From: "Bryan Nolastname" Subject: (dr350) pegs Anyone using any aftermarket pegs? Are they worth the $$? Thumper is selling "Burly Pegs" for $79, & a "rigid mount kit" for $25. Anyone using these? Are there better ones or some just as good for less $$? I've been jumping alot recently, & several times have found it hard to feel well-planted on the bike while in the air & while landing. Are vibrations very noticable if you toss the rubber-mounting setup? My right peg has been bent since I got it...not bad, just enough to force my ankel inward toward the engine a little more than it should be. Just thinking about buying new ones if there is a big improvement over stock...
