My KTM has over 60 HP, but unlike the DR, it is not very useable. Fortunately, I have one of the original DR's that Jesse has modified much like his own. As a comparison, last weekend I battled against several YZ400's on a hard packed TT track and could pull away from them on the straights, but had to let off earlier on the corners. Their lighter weight and more powerful brakes are noticeable. Of course, it would probably be another story if the Yamaha's had the new Vortex airbox. The Yamaha guys were surprised that a DR350 could keep up with them. I kinda forgot to tell them that I had the 435 kit! - --- jessekientz wrote: > Hi Mike, No I have not done that but would sure like > to, I punched off with an 88 KTM 500 two > stroke in a fourth gear roll on and walked away, we > were both so surprized that we tried it > again and got the same results. Then the 1997 thru 1999 "S" models came with the non-cushioned one piece hub that are the same as the dirt only DR's 1990 thru 1999, and the sprockets will interchange. Yes, I have also had problems ordering the rear sprockets, as most of the aftermarket catalogs do not show the later DRS models as taking the same sprocket as the Dirt Model. Jesse, were you taking notes? Hope you learned as much as I when we were lying to each other for two days and nights. Norm Suzuki DR Suspensions DR. There is some good news and some bad news. The good news is that the following will not apply to Baja, only to Mexico mainland. And now for the bad news. Today Mexico announced that starting November 1 (that may not be correct, but it is soon) they will be charging a fee for all vehicles entering Mexico. This will be a "bond" as a guarantee that the vehicle will not be sold in Mexico, as many cars are being bought elsewhere and "they don't get their taxes". The last part in quotes I added. They didn't give the exact amount of the "fee", but it has been said that it will be in the hundreds of dollars. The fee will be reimbursed when the vehicle leaves Mexico, but I'll bet that won't happen, at least not right at the border, but maybe mailed back and who knows how long that will take. They have had a similar program previously, but that was payable by credit card, and it was only a small amount. This, I have heard, is to be paid cash. So who knows for sure just what it will end up being? I'll try to check some sources here in the San Diego area, and will update to any of you who express interest by reply. Sorry folks, that's Mexico. Go to Baja!!
