Hi everyone, I just subscribed to the list so I decided to post a few Pars as a tribute :) The Pars are taken from a series of images I created while exploring one of Sylvie Gallet's formulas (included). The most interesting thing about the formula is that it can generate some great tileable fractals (see pars 1, 2 and 3). Let me know what you think. - ---------------------- Pedro A. O. It's at http://members.xoom.com/PaulDeCelle/group6.html Recent Mandelbrot par postings have rekindled my interest in the infinite variety within the M-set, so I'm also starting another Mandelbrot page, which is linked to from the above address. A side topic: As a contest participant, I received the invitation from IADA to show (and maybe even sell) computer art prints at an exhibition next spring in Los Angeles. I've been following the recent thread regarding reproduction techniques, pricing, etc. with some interest. Is there really a market for this type of art? By this I mean *pure* fractals as opposed to some of the VERY good digital art examples shown at the IADA site. If so, while some of the images I've generated and posted are (to me, at least ) interesting and nice to look at, the *best* ones are based on the work of others - formulas, pars, color maps, etc. I've simply played around with initial values, colors, and functions to render interpretations that I think are worth sharing.. Would it be "right" for someone to use the work of other artists to create their *own* images to sell for profit? Could (should!?) some kind of royalty be paid to formula, par, and color map contributers/originators? Anyone have any thoughts on this? I purchased my original copy of Fractint for about $30.00 along with a very nice book on the subject, many moons ago (when the crust of the earth was still cooling) and as I recall it was published by the "Waite Group". Obviously Mr. Waite had friends who all contributed to the effort. At any rate, I have just down loaded version 19.6 for DOS and want to thank you all for making it available to the world. Fractals are one of only a few things that really are worthy of all the computing power available today and their beauty and intricacy simply cannot be described. One has to "experience" them.
