I'm glad you did - I know many people that when they see that type of reference they'll run out and buy the book. Ayep, although the suffering involved in hunting down a copy, even then, ain't minimal. > > I'm fairly sure Cook > > appears in a couple of his other bilbiographies. Weird - I'll drop him a note and tell him to add it to the bibliography if they go to another edition :-). ======================================================================= To unsubscribe, subscribe, or access the archives of this list, visit . ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Jim Hunt Subject: (glencook-fans) Newbie intro Date: 03 Feb 2003 19:02:34 -0800 Hi, Just subscribed to the list and thought I'd take a moment to introduce myself. I first read and enjoyed the first 3 books of the Black Company series over 10 (15? it's been a while) years ago. Recently I was delighted to discover through the Sci Fi Book Club that there were a number of other Black Company novels available, which I have since devoured. Although the subsequent books were of uneven quality ("Bleak Seasons", in particular, seemed quite tedious), I thought the series finished on a relatively high note with "Water Sleeps" and "Soldiers Live". I've been a sci fi addict for quite a long time now. Recently I've been reading Jordan's "Wheel of Time" series and Terry Goodkind's "Sword of Truth" books. Other authors I've read extensively include Heinlein, Eddings, Clarke, Asimov, Feist, George R. R. Martin, and many others I can't recall at the moment. Anyway, I'm currently working my way through the mail list archives and the FAQ and looking forward to new discussions on the list. Things have been a bit quiet lately, but we get fired up once in a while. You'll find that the list goes through sporadic quiet periods and then gets busy for a few weeks when someone says something to spark people's interest. I tend to agree with your assessment of the series. I found "Bleak Seasons" to be rather tedious and was glad to see it pick up again in the last couple books. Have you read any other Glen Cook stories? Favorite Black Company book: Shadows Linger :) Alex ----- Original Message ----- Sent: Monday, February 03, 2003 11:47 PM > Welcome to the list, Jim.
