Crawford" Subject: Re: MtMan-List: Fw: Crabcakes, Actors, and Moses Himself Please accept my apologies, but I was moved by the story. (Here's where you can delete if you wish) I guess if I were to chime in, I'd have to say that I, too met Chuck Heston. It was sometime in the late 70s when his book "An Actor's Life" came out. It was at a book signing in Chicago. I was a starving college student at the time and couldn't afford the book. But I really wanted to meet him. This pre-dates his Bill Tyler role that we all know, and at the time my favorite role of his was Michaelangelo in the "Agony and the Ecstasy." I stood around for quite some time taking pictures of him as each fan walked up to his table and greeted him, all the while waiting for some goon "doing his job" asked me to leave. After a while Chuck noticed me. He waved and gestured. I took that as a good sign and walked on over to shake his hand. He had a firm but gentle grip. He is a big man. We exchanged pleasantries for a few seconds, while I thought about the long line that was waiting. He was very kind and as I parted he gave me a smile and waved once again. As I left I thought "He's one of the few who marched beside Martin Luther King in the early days before it became fashionable. He stands for everyone's rights." One of the biggest names on the planet, yet he still makes time for the little guy. That's Chuck Heston. I still have the pictures. HBC *************************************** Henry B.
