The more advanced the class, the less content could be found in books. The standard curriculum could be learned from books and a fair amount of dirt time figuring things out. The advanced standard is much more hands on, but a lot of the fundamentals could be gotten from books. There is a good amount of helpful hints that save a lot of time figuring out the details. The movement and camo portion is not in any book, nor are a number of the traps covered, and there are a lot. Also, some shelter info not in a book, which you get to test out firsthand while you are there. The advanced tracking class goes way beyond anything in print in just the first day.
