He painted in the 1820s & 30s out of the Selkirk colony on the Canadian Red Rivr. The book _The Artist Was a Young Man_ by Alvin Josephy, Jr., (Amon Carter Museum, Fort Worth, 1970) is probably the best work on Rindisbacher. Hope this was of some assistance.
