Kent" Subject: Re: (jarre) The Unknown Drummachine It's unquestionably the mid 70s Korg Minipops drum machine. (Unless I'm hearing a different sound than you, lots of it on Oxygene too) There were several machines in the line. They were all preset (menaing you have to go with the patterns already in there) and you can't sync it up to something else as far as I know. Of course it can be sampled and made into new patterns. Yes, as a previous post mentioned, old analog drum machines made many drum sounds out of multiple square wave generators combined in clever ways. The nord lead II has a new drum kit setup. One of the sounds in there is quite reminicent (and of of course you can tweak it). Made me smile when I heard it. Once and a while Minipops samples show up on sample CDs of old Korg sounds. "History of K" sold in Japan would be an example. I don't know where you would get it outside of Japan though. - -nick kent # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info jarre" in the message. # Postings must go to jarre@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 8 Mar 1998 00:58:06 +0000 From: "Revolution Mailing List" Subject: (jarre) (Fwd) RML - Rendez-vous 98 Hi, Another email from the Revolution Mailing List... The Web site will be relaunched this month, we will send all RML members an email when the site is back on-line. In the meantime, here is some more news to reach us during the past few days... RENDEZ-VOUS '98 Rendez-vous '98 is a collaboration between Jean Michel and Apollo 440 - being a remix of Rendez-vous 4. There are three different remixes of the track: Rendez-vous '98 - 3'45 Rendez-vous '98 (@440 Bonus Beats Mix) - 3'45 Rendez-vous '98 (@440 Remix) - 7'24 We have been fortunate enough to hear all three remixes, with the first track being an excellent remix. The remix features extra elements such as football crowds, airhorns, La Marseillaise - the French national anthem, and the French nursery rhyme Fr=E9res Jacques! It is instantly recognisable as a remix of Rendez-vous 4, and it is one of the best remixes to be released yet. The @440 Bonus Beats Mix is adequate, with it in a lot of places sounding very similar to the Extended Mix of Rendez-vous 4 from 1986. The @440 remix is, sadly, a relatively poor remix, in the same league as Apollo 440's remixes of Oxygene 10 last year. The single was scheduled for release on 9th March, then it moved to 30th March. This was followed by another delay in April, and it has now been officially confirmed that the single will be released on Wednesday 10th June 1998 (the same day when the World Cup starts in France). The single will be released on the following formats: CD Single (665 625-1) Rendez-vous '98 - Rendez-vous '98 (@440 Bonus Beats Mix) CD Maxi Single (665 625-2) Rendez-vous '98 - Rendez-vous '98 (@440 Bonus Beats Mix) - Rendez-vous '98 (@440 remix) 12" Vinyl (665 625-6) Rendez-vous '98 (@440 Remix) - Rendez-vous '98 - Rendez-vous '98 (@440 Bonus Beats Mix) A video for the single is in production, and promos of the single will be distributed at the end of April. More details about the single was sent to the all RML members in the last email (sent 02/03/98). More news is being sent today in separate emails (this is in preference to putting all the news in one large email). Is there an e-mail archive where to get the discog? Most Majordomo programs have these possibilities and the xmission list sends their digests to you if you request them. Of course, someone can also e-mail the discography to me :) (Harry R.: Word format is OK too :) ).
