I'm called Ashley Pomeroy, I'm 21, I'm into a wide variety of music (Enya, Tangerine Dream, Faust, Finitribe, Philip Glass, Michael Nyman, the Bonzo Dog Band, and Papa Sprain), I make my own with a bunch of bashed-up synths, I have a homepage at http://area51.upsu.plym.ac.uk/~arp/ I can be emailed at arp@prot.upsu.plym.ac.uk and my favourite colour is blue. Technically I'm rejoining the list, but I have been away for a year or so and nobody will remember me. The last time I was here (way back in late '95, early '96) Jarre had been dropped by Polydor, Jarremix had died a death, and the major topics (please don't answer them) were- Does Jarre mime on stage? The laser harp, does it work? What did he use the Vocoder for on Equinoxe? What are the vocals on Zoolook? When will his next album be released (this was just after Chronologie)? and others such as a tribute to Jarre that was going to be recorded by some internet musicians (Ummo, or something like that). Furthermore somebody had posted something about buying a Roland SH101 and how it was really good and RE: SH101 seemed to fill the subject headers for an age (the culprit being me, in fact). As a postscript, I know a heck of a lot about electronic music and synthesizers, and if anybody wants me to write a big book on the topic I can do so. # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info jarre" in the message. # Postings must go to jarre@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 22 Mar 1997 13:34:30 +0100 From: "Christiaan Tinga" Subject: Re: (jarre) Intro Some of the questions you asked, which will surely be answered by MANY freaks! :-)))) > The laser harp, does it work? Don't post to this list answering them- I know the answers anyway and the topics were incredibly tedious the first time around. Another thing. What shall we do for his anniversary (there was some talk of an Internet Jean-Michel Jarre tribute track)? Incidentally, don't post answers to any of this to the list, as they weren't all that interesting in the first place. I used to have a signature that went something like Would it get some Impossible And the red ball wind for the sailbost you say and the green ball which was a quote (in stereo) from Philip Glass' Einstein on the Beach. Er... to beat a dead cow, this performance was about as live as Destination Docklands was. But the lightshow looked nice, though. Since his chart-top hit with 'Oxygene' in 1977, he has continued to use old-fashioned 'analogue' instruments, keyboards with no memoray and so on. His record company, Sony, made the following statement today: 'Jean-Michel was very keen to use the original analogue instruments on his upcoming Europe Tour, but this has proved impossible. We have been informed that it is impossible to keep these old and delicate instruments in tune over the rigours of a two month tour. Therefore we will have to duplicate them on stage through the use of samplers and other techniques. We realise that this will upset many of the fans, as it changes the style of the concerts for obvious reasons. But, it was either this or cancel the tour, as it is we still haven't sold the minimum number of tickets required for most of the concert dates, and we may have to cancel some dates. Jean-Michel is upset by this, but believes the shows will still be spectacular. Sony apoligises again on his behalf' Newsbytes has since learned that the shows in danger of being canceled include Manchester Nynex and London Wembly in the UK, as well as sites in France and the over used Germany. Fans of Jean-Michel were said to be 'disapointed' by the news. - -----------END------------ ;,-(((((((((((((( - -- Thomas, sitting on a loverly new highback swivel chair, with *arms* ! The > existance of the 5 track versions was mentioned on this list a while ago. > > According to my information the 5th track is ``Hani's 303 Reprise'' > (3'44"). The catalog number is/should be EPC 664074-5. This version was also > rumoured to have a CD-extra track (Multi Media) but it doesn't have this. No, the 5th track is Oxygene 8 revisited mix (radio edit), which is 3.22 long, and the catalouge number is EPC 664074-2. I bought mine here in Sweden and as I know all CD's here have this extra 5th track. / Lesley # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info jarre" in the message. # Postings must go to jarre@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 02 Apr 1997 17:23:28 +0200 From: Kim Pedersen Subject: (jarre) Bootlegs. A lot more concerts throughout Europe are expected to be announced next week, including Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece and possibly more French shows. So, keep this URL bookmarked and check it regularly for the latest news on Jean Michel Jarre: http://www.netlink.co.uk/users/revmag/ BTW, in case you are thinking this is a late April Fools / Poission d'avril - it is not! I know of the following bootlegs: Rarities Rarities 2 Concert Pour La Tolerance Music For Supermarkets (CDR) Rarities contains the albums "Deserted Palace" and "Les Granges Brulees" plus a few B-sides, Rarities 2 contains B-sides and oddities, the material on both of them are pre-Oxygene. Tolerance is the concert of the same name (July '95), and Music For Supermarkets needs no further explanation. I have a few copies of Rarities for sale (26$ plus postage or equivalent in UKP/DM), with the others I can only help with tape copies. But looking at the part you reffered to I would say that it comes down to the fact that there will be show where the music of JMJ will play in the background. It *has* been. Jarre's music was just playing in the background. This happens a lot when firms are introducing new products (especially cars).
