Long Message! June 5th Leaving Toronto at 20:00 to Manchester. 3 hour delay on the plane. Some problem with the motor, but they are fixing it while we are on the plane...*sigh* June 6th Arriving to Manchester. Stephen Lee Toole picks me up and drives me to Liverpool. There I met Lina Panova from Sweden and Damon from England. At 3 pm, Ste listens to his messages and calls Geoff Gidley back. 3:05 we are in the car driving to Birmingham to meet the man!!! Heavy Friday trafic. Arriving to Birmingham at 6:00 pm. :( Going straight to the venue. Meeting with Dave Freeman and other UK Jarre fans. I bought the first 3 tickets through Marshall Arts, and luckily I was sitting in the 4th row in the middle of the arena. Loads of merchandising!!! Drained my VISA card. Great concert, although the laser harp was not working properly. Jarre was pretty pissed... Driving back to Liverpool at night... June 7th Damon, Lina & I were driving up to Manchester. The weather is very English! Meeting inflatable Falken at the bank machine. Following the penguin to a pub where Andy was greeting us. (stuart where where you?) We left for record shopping, but met the guys at 6:30 before the concert. This time Richard (forgot the last name, sorry) with the "long sig. file" was there too. New merchandises, tour book and more rip-off "jarre-ware". The best concert out of the four I have seen. Sound wise and music wise. The laser harp was working perfectly. This time my seat was in a very s@#$ place. I went to see the customer service girl, because I wanted to change it. Fortunately she was very nice and gave me a seat close to the stage in the middle!!! Also gave me a few posters!!! She was quite supprised that I flew all the way from Canada for the concerts. (BTW, can anyone send me the address on the arena, so I can send a poscard to her...she was very good looking as well:) During Revolution I see Thomas pengiuning away at the front :))) After the concert driving back to Liverpool. June 8th Leaving to London late. Arriving around 7 pm. Okey seat, but this time at the upper level. The stadium was full. Great atmospheir before the show. But it just dies when the music starts :( Some minor problems with the harp. I think that JMJ's long coat is hitting the beam. After another great concert I said good bye to Andy, Thomas and the pengiun. They rumored that Jarre is staying at the Hilton at Wembley. We waited for the man to drive out at the back , than walked to the Hilton. We spent there like 3 hours. Lina got friendly with the crew. We meet the stage manager, and the sound and video guys. Ste and I talked to the merchandising people. There will be more stuff!!! Shirt and coat.... Anyhow it got late 3:00 am so we left to find a place to sleep. unfortunately all cheap hotels where closed or fully booked :( But lina said thet the crew mentioned that they can give us a room if we need it. So we drove back to the hotel and the 3 of us slept in the stage managers room at the Hilton for free :) We got to see one of the new memos, so Danielle listen up!!! Jarre is arriving to Milan from Munich with Lufthansa at 16:15 on the 25th of June. June 9th Going in the city. Shopping and buying my ticket to Amsterdam with eurostar. At night meeting with Mirai, the alien:) Got my CD and a new 12" and a bonus tape. Let me say that the music is brilliant!!! I really like it!!! The second Wembley concert had the best audience out of the ones I saw. Even Jarre was moved! He mixed up the tracks but generaly all concert where almost the same. After the concert I met with Mirai and his friend and Abdi (Danish Fanclub). We decided to meet at JMJ's hotel. They left with the tube and we where waiting at the gate to see JMJ leave. It took him a few hours...but in the car we saw Dreyfus with Jarre. so they probably had a meeting or press conferance. We got to the hotel at 2:00 am. Ste and Lina droped me off and they left to Liverpool. The four of us realized that this might not be the hotel after all so we decided to walk to the city. So we chat and walk till dawn. Than Mirai and his friend left to the hotel so does Abdi. I walked to the train station. On the way I passed the Hayward Gallery :) June 10th Got on the train to Amsterdam. After Hague, when I am half a sleep, a guy asks me about the concerts in the UK. ( I had a Jarre Tshirt on) Well this guy was Coen!!! So we got to Amsterdam. Coen made sure that I'll have all the Holland releases of oxy10 :) Than we left back to Hague. I stayed at the official Galaxy hotel! With Bart and Coen we went to eat and sightseeing. June 11th Going back to Amsterdam with Coen. Extensive tour of the record shops and the red light district :)))) Meeting Fedor at night back at Hague. Another tour at the red light districk but this time at Hague :) June 12th Leaving to Liverpool. Traveling from 14:00 till 23:40. June 13th Leaving back to Toronto. Vacation is over. It was great but short!!! :( 415 mail was waiting for me! It was great to meet everyone. It was about time to put the faces behing the sig. :) Thanks to Coen and Bart for their kind hospitality!!! Hi all, Phew, my first email to the list for nearly a month! ;-))) Before the main reason for mailing - I would just to like say it was a pleasure to meet so many of you the past few weeks in Holland, Belgium, Scotland and England! All of you know who you are, I will not type out the names - there are too many of them! ;-] I know some of you are awaiting personal emails from me - please bear with me, my 'real' job has been very demanding the past few weeks (working on an MPEG-2 decoder ASIC for Digital Set Top Boxes). You will all receive something soon! Oh yeah, Dan - thanks for the compliment! ;-))) Further, as Dave Knight pointed out in an email earlier in the week - - he has decided to leave Revolution, and concentrate all efforts on JarreCon 98. We wish him luck, and, naturally, Revolution will support the day, as we have done in the past with conventions both in the UK and overseas - which all of the Jarre fanclubs do. Righto, main reason of the email... ;-) Midweek chart position of Oxygene 10 in the UK is #18. It is expected to chart between #20 and #25 on Sunday - could be higher thanks to Colin no doubt... ;-))) That is all for now - more to follow! ;-) Ta La Dave - -- - -------------------------------------------------------------------- - - Dave Freeman - Revolution - Jean Michel Jarre Magazine - - -------------------------------------------------------------------- - - Email: davefr@globalnet.co.uk - - - Visit Our Web Site: http://www.netlink.co.uk/users/revmag/ - - -------------------------------------------------------------------- - - Oxygene 10 released in the UK on Mon 23rd June - - -------------------------------------------------------------------- # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info jarre" in the message. # Postings must go to jarre@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 29 Jun 1997 00:35:03 +0000 From: "Dave Freeman" Subject: (jarre) Re: Moscow & Oxygene Tour in France Hi again, About the proposed Moscow concert in September and the French leg of the Oxygene Tour. First, Moscow: The latest is that it is *currently* on - but things can change... Some people have already said it is 'confirmed' - as far as I know, it is not yet definite... A few days ago, I was told that there was a problem with money, which now looks like has been ironed out... Date for the show is Saturday 6th September. Anybody from the UK contemplating going to the show, should keep in mind that the show may fall through (like anything can, look at Mexico in 1991...), also that a Visa is required for Russia (as a few guys said recently). You will need to apply to the Russian Embassy for Visas - on average they take between 6-10 weeks to go through in the UK! So, if anybody is thinking of going - you will have to decide now and go for it. As for the Oxygene Tour in France - the latest is on our Web site, but to reiterate: The following concerts are definitely cancelled: - - Bordeaux - - Pau - - Amneville - - Paris (All 4 dates in November) Paris has so far received one new date - Thursday 16th October, with tickets already available. Note, that tickets for the November dates are *not* valid for the October show - you will need to apply for a refund and get a new ticket. The Paris date seems to be sure now - this weekend has seen new fly posters appear across the city with the new date... As for other French shows - nothing is for certain yet. The concert in Lille on Friday 17th October looks fine at the moment - as I think a 'few' English fans I know will be there on the 17th! ;-) There was a meeting after the Milan show on Thursday 26th (the one that Dan talked about); which had people from the worldwide and French promoters, and reps from Sony Music from various countries. The purpose was trying to establish a plan for future concerts this year. As ever, look out on our Web site for the latest. All important news also mailed to the list. There was :- Oxygene 8 Remix. 12 inch. Takkyu Ishino. 25 GBP. Code SAMPMS 3949 Oxygene 8 Remix. 12 Inch. Sunday club. 35 GBP. Code XPR 3117 Oxygene 8 Remix. Double 12" Dado/Hani. 35 GBP. Code SAMPMS 3948 Oxygene 10 Remix. 12 Inch. The Sash remix 25 GBP. Code XPR 3141 Oxygene 10 Remix. 12 Inch. The CLub remix 25 GBP. Code XPR 3145 Also a rare item is the Press release pack which is an A4 cardboard folder of the Album cover. It contains Two Cd singles. The yellow has the Sash edit II 3.27 and Sash RMX (single Edit) 3.28. Code SAMPCS 4317 The Red one is just the Original Edit 3.30 Code SAMPCS 4206. There is also a single A4 press release. I will scan it and put it up soon (the next 2 hours I hope i.e. b4 2am GMT) at http://homepages.enterprise.net/sallsopp/press.jpg and also at http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Way/8178/press.jpg This press release seems to contradict the released titles. Please read it. I was told that an offer of 100 GBP would secure it for me. Any item(s) would be despatched on receipt of payment. GBP = Great British Pounds. This is open to all, even my good friends over in NI and his American sidekick :) (seriously) These prices seem a little steep to me and if anyone has them at a better price I'd be very interested. Oh, BTW I got the Audiophile LP today, I thought it wasn't being released. Not very clear unfortunately. seems to be recorded in a toilet or something! and no it isn't my deck, thats fine with everything else. Another small email to follow, I didn't think anyone would read this far on this one :) Later, Stuart Allsopp sallsopp@enterprise.net # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info jarre" in the message. # Postings must go to jarre@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 02 Jul 1997 23:30:55 +0100 From: Stuart Allsopp Subject: (jarre) Web award. There have been critisisms of Sony recently so maybe this will balance it out. I was reading the Internet magazine .net and looked at the "UK web awards 1997". In the "Best Commercial Site" which is "For sites produced to advertise a company or its produts and services" There is cheestrings, tizer, londontransport, durex, Boots, mini site, rac, pepsi and Jarre!!!!!! All these sites can be found by adding .co.uk except Jarre of course. i.e. www.boots.co.uk or www.rac.co.uk e.t.c. These are the nominations. I'll post when the results are announced. Good to see Sony getting recognition at last :) Later! I have noticed another error on it too. Jarre is/was apparantly playing at the NYMEX in Manchester. I thought it was NYNEX personally like it has been since it was built. It was also wrong on the tour t-shirts if you notice.
