The album was touted as a response to the KLF's masterpiece of the same name - but be warned - this album bears little resemblance to the original. The tracks themselves vary from ambient to industrial noise, with (funnily enough) ambient-industrially bits inbetween. A brief description of the tracks follows: Airlock - 'Fake OD' Quite ambient in a Space (Jimmy Cauty) or early Orb type of way. Pomassl - 'Mipp ppon' More ambient, with a bit of noise thrown in. Not as good as the 1st track Aube - 'Bitten Flaw' You know that high pitched pinging you get in your ear after going to a concert - this is it, except louder, for 2 and a half long minutes; before becoming slightly more palatable with more Spacey type sounds, followed by train-track drums to finish. The painful start of this song makes the end sound quite pleasant. Panacea - 'Demolition Desaster' The only track on the album (I think) that samples the KLF - and completely annihilates them. If you thought IGUN or A:WTIL were hard, you've got to hear this. Almost unlistenable. Bannlust - 'Fear (Live in Madrid)' Strange distorted voices with power drills, and the occasional monster beat developing into some nice industrial/ambient. FMVSJL - '971023fmvsjI01' (computer)Keyboard ambience (?). Fast typer. Dj Pure - 'Dekon 3' Nice bleepy ambient breaking down into bleepy white noise. Alois Huber - 'Morose mote' Quite eery. Wolves. I-f - 'Quest' Downbeat Kraftwerk. EPY - 'exp' Mini Drum'n'Bass. Fennesz - 'Sportster' White(ish) noise landscapes. Ryoji Ikeda - 'Interference 001' Bass. Just bass. Continuous at first before slowing to a pulse. Literally pointless. Otra Slab - 'Hadacol' Strange, distorted, plodding, tribal chant; with possible didgereedoo. Overall the album is quite good (although not a patch on the original), but definately not an album to go to sleep to - like the original Chill Out. Worth buying if you're interested in the weirder forms of music out there (but aren't a Wire reader), but little to do with the KLF, except for the artwork, which is a replica of the original, but with wolves instead of sheep. It costs stlg10, but I don't know how many were made or are still available, you can get details from : sabotage@silverserver.co.at Sorry for the long post, Rhidian http://www.geocities.com/rodeodrive/2391 # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info klf" in the message. # Postings must go to klf@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. # KLF discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?klf ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 11 Mar 1998 16:25:15 +0000 (GMT) From: ee52kt@ee.surrey.ac.uk (Kyle M Thompson) Subject: (klf) Re: M?A?D U>> > BTW who exactly is M/A/D ? that's about right. dave, formerly of this parrish (sic) kt # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info klf" in the message. # Postings must go to klf@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. # KLF discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?klf ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 08 Mar 1998 06:51:27 +0200 From: =?ISO-8859-1?Q?Pel=E9?= Subject: (klf) LSOM II is really lost... All right, I'm confused. I have believed these two things to be true: Number one, WKTJ never came out on cd; number two, it was never issued in the US. If these aren't true then that's another discog update. Sure we're not talking about HISTORY of the Jams...? You are correct. The Australian version of The History of the JAMS has the Disaster Fund Collection where the US version does not. The only thing that this album has in common in with Who Killed the Jams is the cover art and a few tracks. After ab. 3 hours I couldn`t stand the music anymore ( and I didn`t look for a girl either, I already got a girlfriend), so I thought - why not put on my KLFtape (which I had in my walkman) Good idea said my (male) friends we`ll join you on the dancefloor, as we all new the girls would leave it. So Ok, the `Doggbite megamix`( 11 min of KLF) was about to go on, at first the people left the dfloor as there was no soulmusic to dance to. We`ll my mates and me were jumping around and having fun, after a while more people came up to the dfloor and it all looked good, `til the megamix was over and the new tune was coming on. Then I remembered that the next tune was `3 a.m. eternal KLF & E.N.T mix`, not that good to dance too - I`m afraid! Anyway we were 3 (!) people still jumping on the dance floor when "they" turned it off. A point in this story is that my girl comes from a bigger town than me and people there a bit different. They can ONLY listen to the most "IN" music and the all dress quite the same. No chance for individualty there! AS there was only me and my pals from my hometown invited there we were already a bit "off" - guess if we were more off when I played A trashpunk version of a technosong where it was supposed to ONLY be girls side of hiphop/soul/pop etc. My girl was a bit ashamed over my behavior, as it was the first time I met "her" friends. Though I'd say that pinpointing the year to 992 is pretty bold, not to say unjustified;)... Det mesta tyder på att det var Leifs gård och hans resa till Amerika kan därför anses vetenskapligt styrkt." ok... some shortened English edition then: "Leif Eriksson, a Norwegian viking, is thought to be the first European to sail across the Atlantic to America. It should have happened around year 1000. In the 980ies another viking, Bjarne Herjolfson, was to sail from Iceland to Greenland. He [blablablaslfsdklggkflhnfdsjg] and saw unknown coasts in west, but never went aland[sic?!!]. Fourteen years later, Leif sailed from Greenland to find Bjarne's land. [and then the text goes on telling why it is considered scientifically proven that he really was in Newfoundland... blablaah]" here are some years from another source: 986 - Vikingeskip seiler langs Newfoundlandkysten 991 - Æthelred II betaler den første Danegeld 995 - Olav I Trygvason blir konge i Norge 1000 - Kristendommen blir innført på Island 1000 - Leif Eriksson, seiler til Nord - Amerika 1000 - Olav I dør; Norge styres av danskekongen 1002 - Brian Boru slår nordmennene og blir konge av Irland shortened english version again: ;) 986 - Viking ships sail along the Newfoundland coast 1000 - Leif Eriksson sails to North America Most of this should be common knowledge to anyone that's went to a Swedish or Norwegian school.... end of history lesson.. =) /Kristoffer # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info klf" in the message. # Postings must go to klf@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. # KLF discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?klf ------------------------------ End of klf-digest V2 #74 ************************
