You haven't seen the quality of the WR film thats been floating around. While the quality may not be as good as a proper video, at least there's no degredation in quality for each copy. Just think: you're getting a copy of someone's copy to make a copy in NTSC so you can copy it for other people. The copy you send people is four generations removed from the person who supplied it to your contributor. And I bet even that is a copy, not an original. Try copying a video that many times and compare it to the original. An MPEG doesn't look too bad now. Besides, the copy floating about on cd is pretty large... - -paul # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info klf" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email klf@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # KLF discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?klf ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 28 May 1999 11:16:38 +0100 (BST) From: Culf Subject: Re: (klf) West Wycombe Caves Why what? > -----Original Message----- > From: heather steers Subject: (klf) West Wycombe Caves > > >http://www.netindex.net/national/touristinfo/south/info/museums/ww-caves/in > dex.htm > > WHY??????????????? # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info klf" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email klf@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # KLF discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?klf ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 28 May 1999 10:00:53 -0400 From: "Thorne, Chris" Subject: (klf) Death of Fnord Well if you haven't heard the Fnord FTP site is now dead, its really too bad since this was an amazing site to get tons of KLF stuff. This is what the site says: I have run this ftpsite for over two years now. Lots of KLF-fans have mailed me and everybody seems to enjoy the site. Unfortunately some people can't read the rules. I have noticed that more and more mp3 searchengines lists this site, even though I have specifically asked that I do not want it listed. I can't handle the traffic these searchengines generate, and I am not taking the risk of getting RIAA's attention. This site is closed. Not that I know all that much about running ftp sites, but I would think changing the extention to something like pm3 or mp3_ would prevent search engine listings... Nope, I think mp3-search engines work something like this. Someone register the site's ip-no, and login/pw... Then the search engine reads the directory structure and file names on the site every now and then, slams the whole thing in a database and when you search for KLF you get a list of every song with KLF on Fnord (and of course other mp3 sites with KLF songs, wich aren't that many =). The method you suggest would work on the www but not on ftp, since ppl still could register the site's login info in a search engine.
