Is there a > recommended album? Or is it as it appears - there's only one? The album *I* would recommend is "Wired World", one of the greatest albums of all time, IMHO... but unfortunately, thats a bit of a duff recommendation, as due to assorted record company wrangles it never got officially released (i.e. the record co, weren't too keen on having guitars and heavy metal samples fused into dance music - where have we heard that idea before?). However, if you lurk around in the right utah-oriented places for a while, you're almost certain to find somebody who will fix you up with a copy. The self-titled "Utah Saints" album is non too bad either - contains the hits - "Something Good" (AKA "that one with the Kate Bush Sample"), "What Can you do for me?" (AKA "that one with the dah-dah-de-da-dee-dah Annie Lennox sample") ...and lots of other goodies besides. Plus, they have a single released in the UK this week ("Funky Music", feat. Edwin Starr), which will hopefully have a reasonable showing in the charts come sunday (it made 21 in the midweek... which ain't bad) > They must have been around awhile if they did the Mortal Kombat > theme from years past (always been a guilty pleasure of mine) They like to take their time over albums :-) For more info: Official site (predictably): http://www.utahsaints.com/ Unofficial site: http://www.atomiser.demon.co.uk/utahsaints/ (home of the utah saints mailing list, and "that guy on here spouting the joys of Utah Saints") We now return you to your regular viewing... # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info klf" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email klf@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # KLF discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?klf ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 11 May 2000 22:16:36 +0100 (GMT) From: cow@compsoc.man.ac.uk Subject: (klf) Acid Brass The Williams Fairey Brass Band played WTIL tonight live at the opening of Tate Modern on Bankside. I hung out with Jimmy quite alot back in the glorious Jams/KLF days and found it very interesting to read your reports of some of the things they got up to. Many of them brought back fond memories for me. I'm sending you this message to say that Deep Shit b/w The Lovers Side does exist because I have a copy of it. The record starts off, if I remember cos I haven';t played it for ages, with a snippet from Kylie said to Jason, cutting to YMCA by Village People then Bill yelling "Fuck this pop shit...what we want is deep shit" before launching into their infamous rendition of Dancing Queen. Personally I really enjoy the mix of the Lovers Side. I also have a copy of Madrugana Eterna (Eterna 1). My recollection is that there are three mixes but none of them contain the preacher man. I also have a black vinyl one-sided copy of It's Grim up North which simply has It's Grim up North in the run-off groove. Hope this helps to fill in some of the gaps in your interesting fact sheets.
