I uploaded a very interesting KLF related track from William Orbit. It is on pinknet if you would check it... Ragafuzz 1991 (From the rare album Science and Melody) You can clearly hear The KLF-3am Eternal influence on this track. Some KLF Sound Fx in it. Orbit had a hit with Bassomatic called 'Fascinating Rhythm' which at least UK listers ought to remember. Don't know whether it was a hit worldwide. 'Science & Melody' is a great LP though. I used to listen to it whilst on drugs, but we're shifting away from that subject. Anyone who bought any records on the Geurilla label (early '90s UK 'progressive' house) would have bought into the William Orbit dynasty as he ran that too. # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info klf" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email klf@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # KLF discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?klf ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 2 Nov 2000 16:56:29 -0000 From: James Parker Subject: RE: (klf) WilliamOrbit3amEternal >> Anyone who bought any records on the >>Geurilla label (early '90s UK 'progressive' house) would have bought into >>the William Orbit dynasty as he ran that too. "Progressive house" is suddenly very fashionable again in the post-trance UK clubland (as far the club magazines are concerned), and Geurilla is getting name checked heavily. A great label that featured seminal artists such as The Drum Club, Orbital and Spooky. For fans of the Moody Boy mixes of the KLF there were some good "Geurilla in Dub" compilations released. Actually, I'm talking nonsense. It was a guy called Dick O' Dell that ran Geurilla. William Orbit did produce/remix a lot of stuff for them though. Orbital, sadly, were never signed to Geurilla, but Spooky were and they always rang my bell. I have lots of early Underworld remixes of tracks on Geurilla too. Although I have many old William Orbit things, including the Strange Cargo series, my favourite thing he did (apart from the Bassomatic stuff) was a remix of Madonna's 'Justify my love'. There, I said it. # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info klf" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email klf@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # KLF discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?klf ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 2 Nov 2000 13:12:21 -0500 (EST) From: laerm Subject: RE: (klf) WilliamOrbit3amEternal On Thu, 2 Nov 2000, Howat, Simon wrote: > Orbital, sadly, were never signed to Geurilla, but Spooky were and > they always rang my bell. i truly believe _found sound_ is one of the greatest (and most unknown) albums of all time. > Although I have many old William Orbit things, including the Strange > Cargo series, my favourite thing he did (apart from the Bassomatic > stuff) was a remix of Madonna's 'Justify my love'. So...... I think one of my absolute favourite records of all time would have to be on Geurilla: William Orbit "Water From a Vine Leaf" - Spooky & Underworld remixes. Especially the first Spooky remix. Actually, a few years ago (7 gulp!) was at a mega dog doo at Brixton Academy. Was upstairs and Alex Paterson (Orb) walked in about 2am to play some tunes - he played the above remix and I can tell you that it really made my night having one of my heros play one of my favourite tunes. I'm pissed I can't get down for it. Good to know none of the ex-KLFers have lost the edge. Yeah, not sure why Bill didn't put it up over the weekend. My guess would be his usual insistence on lack of spectacle. It was a real issue for all the work - how do you promote intervention - is it still intervention if you do... I'll keep you posted as we know cheers for the release - it's getting circulated to responses of "Fuck me, he's going to get killed" etc... dan # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info klf" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email klf@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # KLF discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?klf ------------------------------ End of klf-digest V2 #385 *************************
