Maybe the Jap market is more important to KHI than the rest of the world combined. OTOH, 40-50hp isn't too hard from a 400 twin, so maybe KHI wan't to keep the power of the KLE at about the same as the 650 single. So if it's seems to be somewhat difficult to find KLR's at the dealers, and the dealers all say they sell very well, why would they get ride of it? Also look at the Voyager. It's been around since the mid 80's and is still a current model... And for the money it's still a very excellent buy. All the magazines say it's one of the worlds favorite adventure bikes. .00015 cent's worth Jim - ------------------------------------------------ > sprecker@inetnebr.com < - ------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 19 Dec 1998 08:55:35 -0800 From: Rob Gendreau Subject: Re: (klr650) Luggage Guy asked about commute luggage.... I use the Kawasaki tail bag. My 10 by 16 inch file folders easily fit inside. If it's rainy, I cram them in a stuffsack first. No problems, and the tailbag removes easily to carry inside. I often carry a suit to work to change into, and I carry that in a Lowe garment bag, which I then slide into a Timbuktoo bicycle courier bag. The courier bag is excellent, with a large comfortable shoulder strap and a body strap that cinches around your body so the bag doesn't suddenly slide forward in a fast stop (an absolute necessity, IMHO, and something missing from the courier bags sold by some motorcycle gear shops). The Lowe garment bag is quite small but holds a suit and shirt easily. It's very minimal, the smallest garment bag I've ever seen. I got mine at Campmor, but I don't think they sell them anymore. With this system I can carry everything inside with me easily, and I have nothing sticking off the side of the bike and potentially impeding me during lane splitting. And it's cheaper than hard luggage by a long shot, tho' not as cheap as bungies and trash bags....
