When I tested the bike, the dealer have four 99 DR's in stock. When I made the purchase today, I bought the last one! Also, KLR's may sell out earlier than ever before. Juan, Kurt, and KLRists, I started a database a loooong time ago but only received about 7 entries and let the plan die. I still think it would be a good idea. Someone had mentioned to me that Gino's newsletter published a list of all subscribers that could be expanded to include info such as is in BMWMOA's Anonymous book. Or you can do what I do and announce a trip and meet people along the way. I never expect to be put up, but I really enjoy meeting local enthusiasts and going out for a beer/dinner. I myself, over the years, have had several people stay at the condo for a few days. I enjoy meeting new travellers and sharing stories and tips. In fact this summer was pretty busy, I had 4 visitors and met Kurt Simpson out in SLC. So if anyone is ever coming through Chicago, in addition to Bill Swindle (who's a nice guy!) you're welcome to stay at my place. Besides, I know a TON of great places to eat and listen to live music if you desire! Let's gain weight together!!!!!! ;-)))) Jean Philippe, I really liked Seattle when I was there last summer, so I WILL call you when I pass through. I would like any info you might have on different exhast systems and if they improve performance and do you have to rejet. Also on tires - what do you reccomend? They bike feels a little twitchy at highway speeds. Do you have any info on riders groups. In Dallas everyone is eaten up with either the Harley fad or the sportbike crowd. Dual sports are a rarity here. I would appreciate any info. The KLX pipe has been shipping for a month, but the spark arrestor, (slides into the canister and replaces racing core) wasn't ready 'til now. You need to specify which core you want when ordering. Without the spark arrestor the sound is supposed to be on par with the SuperTrapp Racing Series. The supplement listing the A-9 (supplement 1080-55) as the last one covered is the most current information with the exception of service update bulletins published in a magazine which goes to dealers. One of these updates shows the changes to the transmission (with exploded views) and gives the torque spec for the countershaft nut as 72 ft.lbs. (replace retaining washer).
