I need a Keihin CVK 34 carb for my ' 86 KLR 250 . My carb is not rebuildable . I've tried the boneyard search engines with no luck. Does anyone have one for sale or had experience with using another type of carb as a replacement ? Any one know what other bikes used this carb. I've heard it was also used in multiple carb setups on some Ninjas but we have not been able to match mine up with any Ninja carbs. Also need an ignition switch/fork lock. Thanks. You're a good man, Gino (as if we didn't already know that). I'm thankful you are there to do what we cannot. Give Mike and Carrie our best. Carrie is hanging in there, Mike had 6 hours of surgery to install plates and pins in his hip and set the joint. He was heavily sedated when I saw him, but the surgery was successful. Carrie is hobbling around with bruises and scrapes. The KLR was retrieved. Man these things are tough. From what I can tell, the only damage was a broken fairing, bent bars and a broken radiator shroud. Despite being heavily sedated, Mike did ask the question that we all ask after a wreck, "How bad is the bike?" They will be at the Espanola Hospital for a few days and would probably apprciate a phone call, tomorrow or the day after. It has decent but not great scalp ventilation, is fairly lightweight, and buffets less than the old Bell it replaced. Adjusted for inflation, it cost less. Low speed Coastal riding at night or early morning can highlight the marginal anti-fog system (opening the shield one click helps, but there's still room for improvement). I wish it was a little quieter. Small changes in the helmet's angle of attack seem to have an effect on how much air moves through the forehead vent, and I suspect the design works better on sportbikes than standards/dual purpose. 'Taint perfect, but I'd buy another one. Jim in LA (where 10 million people recently did the wave) 32 years old, no tattoos, occasional expedient percussionist. As you have the Progressive springs I won't suggest a fork oil change (assuming the oil was changed with the springs). I would suggest having the rear suspension pivots lubed, including the swingarm pivot. The base manual _does_ specify linkage lube at 10,000km (6000mi) but if you're letting a dealer do the job then it wouldn't hurt to emphasise the lube to them as a shortcut not to be taken. Maybe a lube and adjust of the steering head bearings would be in order, too. While specified for the 12,000mi service, it wouldn't hurt to have the steering done sooner. If dealers would actually go by the book then I'd be less inclined to do it myself. I have used these for about 7 years now and can't imagine not using one. They keep the inside of the helmet fresh with I have never have had the dreaded helmet itch even after a few years of use of the same helmet. I just toss the liner in the washer once a week. HJC makes one, and Sliks makes some real nice ones that have a neck gaitor for cold weather. They also make the helmet quieter while riding. In the summer, you can drench them in water, put them on and ride with a cool head.
