I'll let it go for $140, and I'll pay reasonable shipping, USPS 3rd class. Money orders only, no checks. I've been down that road. Black, size large. Only a week old and only worn once. Butch It sounds to me like it might still be your clutch cable. Take it loose at the top and bottom and see if it moves free. If not, there you are. If it moves free then it is either your clutch lever is tightened too much or there is a problem with the clutch. I doubt that the springs are the problem. I have seen them lose some of their tension and cause the clutch discs to slip but they would always return the lever. I have the manuals in stock if you need them. Check the cable and let me know what you find. All I said was I thought that the GS in BMW GS stood for Girl Scout. As for the Iron Butt. I have very strong opinions about it. I think it is a ludicrous event. The idea of pushing yourself to the point of exhaustion while riding a piece of hardware that weighs between 500 and 800lbs at speeds that are usually well above safe limits just to say you did it, is irresponsible and dangerous not only to the rider, but also to other motorists on the road. Sorry, but it is one event that I would not be sorry to see go away. As a foot note, I should say that I have ridden my share of 800-1000 mile days and pushed the limits. But I always make sure I get enough rest and am in good shape to ride the next day. I also helped a good friend, Jim Hickerson prep his Kawi Concourse for this year's IB event. Gino, never at a loss for words or opinions. The discs were within spec so I just replaced the clutch springs with aftermarket "Factory" brand which claim to be 20% stiffer than stock. It solved the problem, the clutch has much more "bite". Sounds like you have something hanging up in the clutch basket. Pretty straight forward to take apart and inspect. In removing and replacing the right side engine cover be very careful to not let the water pump shaft nick the seals like I did the first time I went in there. This is a table of gearbox ratios for our favourite bikes. Noting the similarities and differences, the _suggestion_ is that there may be the possibility that some gears from different models could be swapped around to taylor the ratio spread. Whether the shaft centre to shaft centre specs are the same is unknown Anyone with a KLX650 manual can feel free to tack their specs onto the side. Ratio KLR600B KLR650A KLR650C 1st 2.437(39/16) 2.266(34/15) 2.266(34/15) 2nd 1.529(26/17) 1.529(26/17) 1.444(26/18) 3rd 1.181(26/22) 1.181(26/22) 1.136(25/22) 4th 0.954(21/22) 0.954(21/22) 0.954(21/22) 5th 0.791(19/24) 0.791(19/24) 0.791(19/24) Primary 2.428(68/28) 2.272(75/33) 2.272(75/33) Final 2.866(43/15) 2.866(43/15)* 2.800(42/15) Overall 5.511 5.157 5.037 in top *KLR500 has the same gearbox ratios but uses a 3.133 (47/15) final drive for 5.637 overall ratio in top, not that anyone has actaully seen a KLR500 on the road The table suggests that a 600B 1st gear could be used in a 650 to give it a slightly lower ratio. Note how the top 4 gears of the KLR650C are closer together compared to the other bikes.
