If the pipe isn't hot all the way back to the end, then water vapor could condense in there. > BTW I have a small sailboat and the only winterizing I do is make sure > that it is tilted up enough on the trailer so the water runs out of both > the outer and inner hull. (Hobie Holder MK14 Trainer...not a cat) > > I've sailed one of those before, along with a J-boat, and a Prindle. I know what you mean about the faster part, but wind is free and limitless, unlike gas, so I'm not sure about the farther part, unless you count you time as being limited, as most people do. For just boating around, I preferred my uncle's 28 foot Catalina over my 18 foot runabout. But I'm a ski fanatic, so that is what I mostly do. Man, I've got to drain out the raw water intakes, the water in the exhaust manifold, Stabil in the in the gas tank, top off the gas tank, run the motor to get the Stabil in the filter and gas pump, fog the cylinders, drain the carb float bowls, change the oil an filter, change the oil in the stern drive unit, remove the batteries, charge and store them in the garage, remove all the gear, clean the interior, wash and wax, but the trailer up on jacks, put the cover on, and erect my tarp garage over the boat. Big pain in the ass for only having used the boat for less than ten hours this summer. My A3 I'll ride at least once a week, until we get snow that is. At that point I'll siphon the gas out and into my Rodeo's tank, run the motor until it dies, remove the battery, charge and store. Ordinarily I'd just put Stabil in the bike's tank and run the motor with the petcock off, but I think that I'm finally going to fix my oil consumption problem this winter, if I find the time to clear off my work bench that is. So much to do, so little time. Hold on a second let me check my manual ... no help. Let me check the KLR 600 service manual I just got ... still no help. Yeah, I guess that's what it is. It is the really big nut right in the middle, snuggled between the handle bars and the base, hard to get to, to tighten it down. You're going to tell me I'm tightening the wrong thing, aren't you? How then do I get my handle bars tight? The clamps that hold the actual bars on are tight, but the whole assembly is loose. Is it supposed to be loose? It sure doesn't feel like it should be. When I say the bars are "loose," I mean they can be moved up and down slightly, but they don't have any play in them when turning them left or right. I noticed it on a hot summer day after spilling some on my fuel tank. When I was in the state of Maine and spilled fuel on tank I saw that it dried with no residue and it didn't come on as a overbearing odor. Does anyone know whats up? And can this be harmful to an engine ? Or will it shorten shelf life. I just heard tonight on the news that the goverment incl. the EPA are the biggest polution offenders but are immune from prosicution, so where does that leave a poor bastard like me who has no choice but purchase this crap smelling gas and am I alone in this thinking ? This is supposed to reduce smog, but some say can cause health problems. As far as government being immune from prosecution, I know a guy that got an EPA fine while serving on active duty, because he failed to put a drip pan under his government issued humvee while it was parked. I know that the Army in particular was really trying to clean up its act environmentally, requiring drip pans for all vehicles, spill kits to be carried, stuff like that. The Panama Red is a straight wound spring with a rate of 560 lbs. This **NEW** progressive wound spring has a rate of 500 - 560 lbs. The Panama Red spring is still red and still available but I think this progressive spring that you have will be more popular. I will have a couple in stock if anyone else wants to try one out. They are supposed to fit the standard shock and you will need a spring compressor to get the OEM spring off. Take some photos of the job and write up a story for DSN or web site. You should contact Progressive Suspension and hear the "whole story" about how the Panama Red spring was developed and tested. It is quiet a good story. Let me know how it goes.
