He also has the gas tanks, rear shocks and tires off of about 300 new Y2K KLRs. If you want the fenders and side covers to match what Mike has, they will have to come from Kawasaki. Mike said he doesn't have prices together on these yet. I am going to be selling Dual Star's products. I will have his center stands, etc. in stock this week. On a side note.... I was sent a Worm (virus) this morning. Luckily I didn't download it. It also had shim on top of bucket design. I got the tool at the local NAPA store under the Dodge Omni stuff as these cars used the VW/Audi 1600/1800 I-4 engine. This curved hook design was used by putting the tool so it rests on the outer edge of the bucket (so it does not cover the shim. Then you press down and use a special pliers to lift the shim out so you can see the # on the bottom. It worked great but I don't know if this type of tool will work on the KLR engine. They are hook shaped wedges with a handle that you put in between the head and cam to hold down the valve bucket. It would work on a couple of the buckets but not all of them. The head is designed I believe in such a way that there is not room enough for the tool. I saw the deal on the land closures and did what the harpers should be doing ....... sent email and letters to every political dude I could think of .. Have a question on USEABLE fuel in the KLR's tank.. Anyone ever check to see just how much of the 6.1 is usable? How much fuel milage the 16t sprocket adds? I put a 16 on the bike but don't have any figures to go on what kinda milage I was getting before..as I was still in the break in mode.. Have recieved and installed the Flat Modified Corbin.. Nice.. way better than the stock corbin like they sent me for my DR350.. Thanks Kurt.. for the information.. Also love the progressive springs I bought from Kurt.. knock out some of that nose dive.. heck .. ain't use to that after 65K miles on Tele lever Beemers ha ha ha.. The Happy Trails SU racks are TUFF.. Wow.. Traded in my old racks off the DR for them.. now waiting on the KLR bag setup coming from Texas.. Keep it up list...... neat to have all this information at hand and sharing experiences rather than trial and error methods of the last 40 years ha ha ha.. I punched the holes (4) and dragged it down to the local muffler shop. End of permanent tweet. Now it only tweets when cold. After about 5-10 minutes the tweet stops. An improvement, but not a solution. Also, I was able to make a PVC tool pack using 3" pipe. With a few holes drilled in it, it sits nicely behind the Happy Trails rack, mounted to the cannister mounts. It is about 6.5" long and holds a fair amount of tools. There are a few rattles inside, but nothing excessive. Sorry, no photos at the moment. P.S. If you live near the Cleveland NF/ Ortega Highway area, get up there ASAP. This question has surely been beaten to death here as it is on every other list, so here goes: Mobil 1. Yes? No? Absolutely not? I'm sorry. Had to ask. On the Guzzi and Brit bike lists that I belong to, it's more of a personal choice, although a lot of people won't use it in older engines with old seal technology because they claim it leaks past seals more easily. I want to know if there are any problems with using it in a bike like the KLR with a common tranny/engine case because I could see where there might be problems with synthetic oil with the clutch. We could trade, if someone thinks changing a perfect stock seat, when there are hundreds of torn ones that could be re-covered.
